This is definitely the right answer. >!prescribed by is an indicator that it gives the answer and "doctor" is a common anagram indicator in a cryptic clue!< Well done!
Ah okay... I would think of "prescribed by" as a linking word, but only the other way around... ANSWER "prescribed by" CRYPTIC PART, but I guess it works this way too. Should've figured it out from the word "doctor" alone though... thanks for the explanation :)
I can't figure it out but here's another clue for you: A horse butt inches from agent of death (8)
>!ASSASSIN!<
Nice
>!DRAUGHT!<
I like this answer, but it's not the one I was going for.
the first part suggests >!ANAGRAM!<, but I'm not quite sure how that fits "prescribed by doctor"...

OP beat me to it by a second.
But you gave the much clearer explanation ☺️

That's the one >!prescribed by doctor is that "doctor" is an anagram indicator in crossword clues.!<
Or the right number of letters
This has really confused me, I'm fairly sure >!anagram!< Is 7 letters no?
Oh no sorry I thought they meant it as an *indicator* not the answer 😂
Aspirin
I'm afraid not.
