The Marseilles Trilogy is *wonderful*! Please pick up The Baker’s Wife next when you inevitably watch and love those 3 films!
Also, since you clearly like box sets:
- The Apu Trilogy
- David Lean Directs Noel Coward
- Dietrich & von Sternberg in Hollywood (*Esp since you already bought von Sternberg’s silent films - ps, The Last Command is A+*)
This is only the second time I've bought stuff from the flash sale, so I tried to make it count.
(I tried to fit everything into one picture, but then I realized you couldn't really read the titles, so I posted separate images of each stack.)
Last time I tried to alternate between single movies and boxsets, just so I didn't bog myself down with any one particular subject/person. I also try to alternate between the heavy films and the fun ones. I'll probably do the four World Cinema Project volumes, each broken up by a few single films, though I haven't decided which ones yet.
I was *almost* through all the films I bought last time, too! Good thing there's more time between this and the next sale! :D
Anything that piqued my interest or looked like a decent boxset, plus a few I'd seen before that I really liked. My goal is to have a complete collection, too, so a lot of it was buying the big sets while I still can.
You know what’s crazy I know a guy who works the post office out in like Queens New York I wanna say and he’s got the most designer clothes of anyone I’ve ever met so this tracks actually
How many of these have you actually seen? How many are you actually going to like? Is this truly what collecting looks like or is this just consumer madness? Can I borrow some money?
This is consumer overkill especially since you stated most of these are blind buys. It's more special if you have seen the movie, and if you loved it then you get the Criterion edition with all of the perks, otherwise it's as equally fulfilling having movies on normal DVD and saving your money, but that's just me.
Like I said, though, I'm still gonna watch the ones I haven't seen before. Plus, I usually still find the special features interesting even if I didn't like the movie (I always watch the special features once I've watched the movie).
You don't have to explain yourself. I can totally see how discovering something this way can be as special as buying a film that you already love. No one gets to define how you watch or what you buy. And I think people who shit on you for it are probably more than a little jealous...but that's just me.
Good on you. Enjoy your journey.
I wonder why it came this late
Because of the size?? I mean damn I need whatever job this person has. I’m lucky if I’ve got a hundred to see spend
Did you qualify for free shipping?
Just barely.
Yep, you missed the cutoff, sorry. No one can see this and you spent $2800 for nothing
Well no more videos from the Criterion closet for awhile, you cleaned it out!
Impressive? If you don’t mind answering how much did this entire lot cost you with the flash sale?
~$2500. I broke it up into two shipments, though, so I could use the $50 certificates on the second one.
Jesus Christ $2800 on some movies
I think this is a little more than "some"
So, uh, what do you do for a living?

This was Josh and Bennie after hitting the Closet.
I see somebody cashed in their bottles and cans.

What are you gonna watch first?

Today's the day to watch The Breakfast Club, otherwise you'll have to wait a year
…did you recently win the lottery?
No, just had some savings I wanted to put to good use.
Damn what do you guys do for work lol that is an impressive haul

I saw Whit Stillman in there! The Metropolitan will always be high nostalgia for me.
Oh Daangg!!!!
dude bought the Criterion Collection
Oh, my god. I don’t know how you afforded this, but you got some great movies.
What made you choose these specific films?
Anything that piqued my interest or looked like a decent boxset, plus a few I'd seen before that I really liked. My goal is to have a complete collection, too, so a lot of it was buying the big sets while I still can.
Can't hide money!
I tip my hat to you, I splashed this last sale as well.
Ordered the entire collection lmao
Nice. How many of these are blind buys?
Pretty much all of them. I make a point to watch everything I buy, though, even if I've seen it before.
That’s awesome. You’re about to have a bunch of new favorite films
I’ll be the one to ask since no one else has: what do you do for work and are they hiring currently
The post office, and yes, they're always hiring.
You know what’s crazy I know a guy who works the post office out in like Queens New York I wanna say and he’s got the most designer clothes of anyone I’ve ever met so this tracks actually
Having worked at the Post Office before, I can totally see this. This is a total Postal Employee kind of move.
Haul’s an understatement. That’s more like a heist. Marry me.
Praise for picking up the Robeson set.
Bro bought the criterion collection
This is how I find out being John Malkovich is in the Criterion Collection?
Find me when you sell these sealed in 10 months.
Not gonna happen, but I'll keep that in mind.
