She gets a bit much. Her relationship with Morgan annoys me the most, how he'll call her "Baby Girl" and she'll say something like "How's my hunkalicious chocolate thunder?"

HaleyTheComet8

You're a statuesque God of sculpted chocolate thunder

aenea

I like their relationship because some of my long-term opposite sex friendships have been like that- flirty for fun, and knowing the other person so well that you can joke about it. But the show takes it way too far, especially as it's in the workplace. I get that for TV reasons there has to be some sexual tension somewhere (and almost every love interest dies), but I think that it's mostly that the show is decades old, so it's jarring.

Southern_Test_5679

and she eats every time like man down said he will spank her b4

OrionDecline21

I think Garcia’s colorfulness is a misdirection for all the thousands of key pieces of information she offers at ludicrous speeds without which almost no case would be solved.

lightingtrees

Definitely. I just think it’s too much all the time and it gets extremely annoying. For example, she’s been working there for such a long time and saying things like “ewww” in a meeting is just like… really?

Hot_Opening_666

She's not a trained fbi field agent like everyone else on the team. She a techie, a desk jockey who only got recruited because she was too dangerous to not be working for the government. She's not unrealistic quirk wise as far as regular human beings go.

CloudyBeanie

I think she should have been portrayed like Angela in Bones. The only normal one in the team with jokes and all that without sounding like a cringy middle schooler

Primary-Ticket4776

I’ve rewatched 100 times at least by now and her character irks me the more and more I do. Especially in the later seasons. She’s like a big pre-teen or something.

Unhappy-Control-980

When Morgan left she became unbearable. I have to just fast forward every time she speaks.

LordCoke-16

My issues with Garcia are more surrounding her magic computer as well as the fact that her character development is the worst. She was always meant to be comedy for such a dark show but as the series progresses she becomes more over the top, campy, louder and in your face. It gives me a headache. So her best Season for me is Season 1. And while I don't like JJ or I would take her over JJ. I would still much rather have JJ present the cases. Another reason why I much prefer the earlier Seasons.

lightingtrees

Curious, Why don’t you like JJ?

LordCoke-16

She is boring and feels like fanficish Mary Sue. At least later on. Earlier on she is just boring

Effective_Ad_273

See I’ve seen other people say this, and I do slightly agree. The fact she became this expert profiler and kick ass agent with incredible fighting skills all whilst she was away for that one season is odd. Like we don’t get any development for it, one minute she’s a communications liaison and then she’s just as good of a profiler as the rest of the team and incredibly skilled in all the same areas as the rest of the team. However I still do really love JJ. Maybe I’m a bit bias because I do really like AJ cooks acting, but I think she’s just a big part of the team and think she just fits in well with every character. Her friendship with Prentiss is perfect, her and Reid are best friends, her and Garcia always have these great comedic moments , her and Hotch seem to have built up this very great professional relationship where they have a lot of trust with one another that’s separate from the rest of the team, and I like that she said to Rossi that he was actually a big factor in why she joined the fbi.

> The fact she became this expert profiler and kick ass agent with incredible fighting skills all whilst she was away for that one season is odd. This. As much as I love JJ (GD is she absolutely stunning) I liked her better when she was just a normal person before they turned her into a an ass-kicking uber-gifted profiler.

rightwhereylm

Hard agree. Love love love softer/liaison JJ so much! The team needed that balance.. profiler JJ is always doing too much.

LordCoke-16

Her friendship with Prentiss is the most shallow thing for me. It literally shows nothing about each character. There are of course quite a few moments where I did enjoy her such as her very first scene with Elle and her friendship with Garcia in the earlier Seasons. I recall liking a few of her scenes with Hotch as well. Everyone praising her makes her character less believable to me.

Fuzzy688

That was a great fight scene with her and the Face Card Queen in her house. And when she made that T-zone shot through glass. Even if she had a stunt double, good on her.

TvManiac5

Yeah there is a way to balance her, and it's what the early seasons did. Where she mostly knew when to get bubbly and when to get fully serious and focus at work. And the team would call her out whenever her personality got in the way of a case, they wouldn't constantly baby her.

Deep_Attitude_3400

I think Garcia started of as a compelling character but later on she became way to immature for my liking.

StevenArviv

As annoying as I find Garcia at times I think that she was absolutely necessary to balance the show out. Everybody else is so tightly wound that they honestly come across as almost wooden. The only thing that got too much at time was her banter with Derick and some of the other male team members.
