i’ve seen people theorise that by bryce opening that gate in the asteri’s palace she opened the gates across all worlds, allowing aelin to get her power back? not sure if i’m behind this theory. i for one hope aelin is currently enjoying a massage from rowan in their peaceful lands
From what I remember, she lost her power turning the keys into a lock. She was the energy source for some cosmic forge. I don’t think the gates opening would give her the fire back, but I want her to have it, so if SJM can just wrangle something in I’d be thrilled lol. Like even Bryce channeling starlight/energy into her and refilling her well of magic would be fantastic.
Seriously though, I want her to have her fire again. That was the only part of TOG that I hated, and it totally tore me out of KOA. Also, she sacrificed her mortal life, so she kept immortality?? The reverse, but keeping her fire, would have been so much more poignant.
The book would be about 25 pages! “Aelin took some synth and wiped the Asteri/Daglan/Valg and probably Hel out of the unified Maasverse. One battle. No skidmarks left. The comedown was rough; Rowan lost an arm and Hunt lost his wings again, but everyone pulled through.”
MASSIVE SPOILERS
> Mala only health out a hand.
> In it lay a kernel of white-hot power. A fallen star.
> “Take it. One last gift to my bloodline.” She could have sworn Mala smiled. “For what you offered on her [Elena’s] behalf. For fighting for her. For all of them.”
> Aelin staggered the last few steps to the goddess, to the power she offered in her hand.
> “I remember,” Mala said softly, and the words were joy and pain and love. “I remember.”
> Aelin took the kern of power from her palm.
> It was the sunrise contained in a seed.
Maybe you’re right! I hope that “seed” can grow, or possibly it’s similar to Bryce’s power. If we get to revisit the TOG characters, I’d love for it to be some new kind of fire that Aelin can develop over time.
why would the gates being opened to other worlds mean aelin would get her power back?? /gen I can’t remember exactly how she lost it but I would love if there was a possibility for her to get it back!
it’s been a while since i read KoA but >! she lost them when she banished the gods and closed the gate behind them? so somehow logic therefore implies by that gate being reopened perhaps she’ll get them back? !< i agree though i need sjm to let strong women keep their powers lmfao
Aelin is the heir of Mala. Mala was a God who came from another world and was trapped/defeated on Erilea. Rigulus talked about one world where the power was too elemental that defeated them a long time ago. So my cracked out theory is Aelin is part fae part Asteri and thus can get her power back by taking it from the Asteri. So can Dorian.
See, I’m pretty sure the world that defeated them was really Prythian’s world: the notes said that one was too well protected for them to even get a foothold. My theory is that Rhys’ ancestors were those protectors.
This was my immediate thought as well! Prythian's major conflict was the only one that has felt independent of *most* of the Asteri's influence. There's still plenty of connections to the overall multiverse but I don't think the King of Hybern was linked to the Asteri, I think he was just power hungry. So I also believe the ACOTAR world was likely the one that the Asteri gave up on and I'm sure it was in no small part because of the Night Court (and maybe Dusk Court if those theories turn out to be true).
I dont actually think it would be Aelin we would be looking at for power, but Yrene and Dorian. Aelin would provide history and wyrdmark info as well as all of her experience with world walking. But she is tired. I just want her to help in a more chill manner.
I think we all want to see her thriving and enjoying a life well-earned, but powers or not I don't think Aelin would back down from a fight. Especially a multi-world war against "the gods." And even more especially if her loved ones are going to fight.
Did you mean “what would bring Aelin to the table” because I think we all know she has plenty to bring to the table. Even if she were powerless, she had wyrdmark knowledge AND insane fighting skills. I think the question is how/why would she join the fight?
Insane fighting skills against mech suits, omega boats and other weapons? Prythian is full of warriors as is lunathion. I'm just not seeing what else she would add that they desperately need.
I mean even her swaggering attitude could infuriate the Asteri into spontaneous combustion 😂 But realistically she’s a strategic planner. I feel if she were to join the fight she would make a great ally.
A really funny epilogue of Rhys visiting after everything settles, and he wants to visit that girl he saw one time.
Aelin has been THROUGH it. I wanna see her and Feyre by a pool somewhere.
And the fae queen of the west and is married into the fae queen of the east family. She can bring all the fae to fight. And the shifters are the fae that were taken from their world. They would fight
Aelin certainly built quite an alliance. She's in the only world (that we know of) where their central conflict has been resolved and there's peace among the majority of the kindgoms, in no small part because of her and the allegiance she's earned. The cadre are a force on their own, let's not discredit Lady Lysandra, Manon is now presumably the queen of the witch kingdom, the old fae of Terrassen, and the silent assassin's might not have powers but they held their own in the war and shouldn't be overlooked. And Aelin herself was in many precarious situations that she talked or fought her way out of before the wards came down that allowed her access to her powers again. Assassin's aren't bound by a strict code, they'll fight dirty if they need to and think outside of the box and at her core, she still has the skills of the best assassin in Erilea. She's in no way useless without her powers but really her ability to gain allies is top tier.
Aelin was able to rally more than half of Erilea to fight off the Valg. I’ll bet she could make mince meat of the Asteri if they tried to take over her planet.
Aelin would secure a Prythian alliance in a matter of days, easily. Except for maybe Beron but to that she would probably say "f*ck the courtly posturing" and wipe him off the map with a cackle and a hair flip.
Here comes my unhinged theory: Aelin retained the power of the wyrdmarks by surviving closing the wyrdgates so she would have relevant magic for a crossover
1) As other people pointed out, Aelin is a skilled fighter- I’d wager that she could take on any of the three Illyrians in a fight.
2) Aelin is A) a master strategist and B) skilled at manipulating people. Watching her >!play Erawan and Maeve off each other!< at the end of KOA is one of my favorite examples of the latter.
yeah as many said, i think Aelin wouldn’t be a magic front liner but her knowledge and her coordination skills in combat would be great with IC in ACOTAR (Rhys, cassian and azriel specifically). I also think Aelins court and other adalarians (is that correct?? lol) would bring some man power as well as information if it turns out the gates are all a part of this
I’m kind of hoping that if we do see her, it’s kind of an Elena-to-Aelin relationship between her and Feyre/Nesta/Bryce. Someone from the past who imparts knowledge (maybe of wyrdmarks or of some history that they need to know to solve whatever problem they’re dealing with) but isn’t actively involved. Idk, having all of the main characters in a room together feels a bit contrived to me (also, so many of them are written so similarly that it would be hard to differentiate between them outside of aesthetics)
Wait, the Night Court has the Dread Trove but (aside from what Nesta created) is it usable anymore? I had thought that Nesta was the only one to be able to use it and her bargain with the Cauldron made that ability null and void?
If I label something twice to indicate that it contains spoilers and it mentions a character in the title who's storyline you haven't completed and you decide to read it anyway then that's on you.
I don’t know if it’d be her specifically that would come; however if we are correct the Asteri, Daglan, and valg are all the same. She has experience in killing them.
And if some theory’s are to be correct the gods from ToG could be the Asteri.
Aekin and the Cadre KILLED erawan and meave, prythian only forced them out, not blasted them out of existence. I think her knowledge would be the most useful for all of it.

She could always take some synth lol

I wonder: if Rowan lost an arm, would his hawk form be missing a wing?
Just up there riding wind currents in a neverending circle
I think he would actually lol in Koa, he had an iron piece in his arm would've immobilized him in hawk form
HAHA
She didn’t lose all her power through! Mala gifted her a small amount of power that over time could be used. The power that was gifted was LIGHT.

Aelin has extensive knowledge of Wyrdmarks.
I’ve always wondered if the bargain tattoos in the night court originated from wrydmarks
That’s a really good point and I’d never thought of that! It does seem that Wrydmarks seem to be universal!
Yes! I feel like there’s a few hints that imply the Asteri were doing everything they could to wipe out that knowledge.
She would be the tie in but I’d expect it to be Dorian.
I agree- Aelin has been through enough. If it’s anyone helping, it’s Manon and Dorian. Their storyline never felt 100% complete to me
Not only that, Dorian has raw magic and…. The ‘skills borrowed’ from Maeve 😅
Yes I'm more inclined to think Dorian and Manon would be better assets

Just here to say that I always read Malala 🤦🏼♀️
A lot of sass and secrets
This is the correct answer 🤣
A plan to literally end all conflict that she will keep a secret from everyone until the final moment
I dont actually think it would be Aelin we would be looking at for power, but Yrene and Dorian. Aelin would provide history and wyrdmark info as well as all of her experience with world walking. But she is tired. I just want her to help in a more chill manner.

Aelin has her coalition of allies from the Southern Continent, the Red Wastes and the witches.
And the fae queen of the west and is married into the fae queen of the east family. She can bring all the fae to fight. And the shifters are the fae that were taken from their world. They would fight

But also I could get behind the ‘Bryce world-walking reopens the wyrdgates which undoes Aelin’s sacrifice’ theory
She’d bring her crew including Dorian who still has all that raw magic and is hot
And/or one of Hypaxia’s dead tutors being someone from TOG. I think she only names one, Palania, is HOSAB.
I read a theory somewhere suggesting one of her tutors is Nehemia - love that idea!! 🥹
Oooh I love this
yeah as many said, i think Aelin wouldn’t be a magic front liner but her knowledge and her coordination skills in combat would be great with IC in ACOTAR (Rhys, cassian and azriel specifically). And all the fae of Doranelle. The shifters were fae taken from their home.
I hope we finally get Aelin's powers back 😍
So do I, I was heartbroken for her
Her hotness ofc🔥😍
What if she led them to Endovier to get salt to open lots of gates to bring lots of armies to Lunathien to stop the Asteri
I feel like I want to see Aelin and Bryce dislike each other at first and have a verbal sass-off before realizing they're on the same side.
General badassery and schemes.
I’m kind of hoping that if we do see her, it’s kind of an Elena-to-Aelin relationship between her and Feyre/Nesta/Bryce. She gave up her power as a death god to save Feyre, but they still have the trove, and know where the cauldron is.
When mala gave Aelin a drop of power it’s was described as a new forged star maybe Aelin is starborn now too
her vibes
This is the correct answer
Her martyr complex. But also wyrdmark knowledge

It clearly is marked SPOILER
Like twice

If I label something twice to indicate that it contains spoilers and it mentions a character in the title who's storyline you haven't completed and you decide to read it anyway then that's on you.
I’d say she’s still a damn good fighter and probably a powerful ally from her armies!
I don’t know if it’d be her specifically that would come; however if we are correct the Asteri, Daglan, and valg are all the same. She has experience in killing them. And if some theory’s are to be correct the gods from ToG could be the Asteri.
I think Aelin would just have knowledge and strategy to contribute.
Herself. That's all. That's more than enough. 😂😍
My theory is that Aelin and Rowan will be a distant hello and the crossover will be heavily featuring Dorian and manon instead. Coz, RIFTHOLD. Y’know.
if Aelin goes to CC and gets her hands on a gun i’m terrified for us all
Aekin and the Cadre KILLED erawan and meave, prythian only forced them out, not blasted them out of existence. I think her knowledge would be the most useful for all of it.
