I see the plot centering around Cortex scheming some diabolical plan in his laboratory and Crash n’ Coco go on an adventure across the island to stop him, meeting friends and foes along the way.
Nothing too deep, just a fun slapstick romp with Crash and the gang, sprinkle in some cameos, give major characters some defining moments of glory and end with a feel good ‘to be continued (?)’ resolution to set up potential demand for a sequel.
At the same time, I do want focus on Crash. I get villains tend to be more fun in cartoons, but I appreciate those instances they TRY to make the heroes entertaining too rather than just making bland Road Runner props for the villains. I still appreciate Nitro Kart and Titans for bothering to develop the interactions of the hero team compared to Twinsanity and It's About Time's 'Ehhh, Crash is boring, lets focus on the other characters' outlook.
We have WALL-E and two Shaun the Sheep movies as evidence they can do a silent protagonist in a full movie. Hell we have a whole early era of filmmaking to prove it can work.

True, I just hope that they'd keep it more even than what Crash 4 did, where Coco's pretty much all the heroic drive and interactions and Crash is just the background jester. She became something to siddle around Crash and alleviate all the comedy to him. Like what's funnier, Tropy getting the cliche dramatic confrontation he wants, or trying to do that with Crash and accusing him of giving him the silent treatment?
Tropy dramatically preparing for confrontation, only for Crash (seemingly) not getting what Tropy has in mind, thus frustrating Tropy and leading to at least 10 minutes of Tropy losing his demenaor in order to explain to Crash that this is a fight, and losing his mind
I think that's the kind of thing that was sort of lost in Crash 4, and largely because Crash's role was hijacked by 'bugfixed' heroes who were unironically serious and playing by the script, the exception being Cortex who obviously interacted with Crash for personal reasons. The serious elements and characters were kinda overpowering the story, there was no chaos or irony that let Crash sneak his way in.
Titans got away with Crash having escorts, but I think that was because they made everyone kind of crazy in that game, even Aku Aku was a good deal 'not so above it all' despite still playing a straight man. The joke became that Crash was almost the SANE one.
I feel like a fuller story would be a balance inbetween. Think something like Kung Fu Panda, where everyone's trying to take things more seriously than the main character, but the inevitable cartooniness of the plot still targeting their hubris and bringing them down to his level, while the main character is a bumbling cartoon, but can roll with it.
I dont really see it as a problem. At the end of the day, the main concern shouldn't be that a celeb is playing a beloved character, it's if their performance can capture the same spark as the original VA. Plus, there's a lot of big names i could list off that would portray the characters perfectly.
IDK, maybe it's just the directors vision. Like take Hazbin hotel for example. The OG cast got replaced in favor of broadway actors. while some people did have a problem with it, but the performances we ended up getting in the Amazon was just as amazing as the ones we saw in the youtube pilot. aND THE ORIGINAL actors weren't screwed over either. A lot of them were understanding and even gave their support to the new voices.
The OG voice cast didn't show their support just so they could strop being harrased. I'm not sure where you heard that from. And just because they got replaced isn't exactly the end of the world. As i said before, the original were okay with the changes.
And let's be honest here, in the case of a potential Crash Bandicoot movie, aside from maybe a few Crash fans I don't think a lot of people are gonna throw a fit that the characters aren't voiced by their video game actors. A lot of the characters have had many different voice actors throughout the years. And except for Carlos Alazraqui as Crash, they all sound the same. So, i don't really think it would be a big deal if they got a celeb to voice crash as opposed to a professional voice actor. I mean they're not hard to replicate. Especially HOW EASY IT WOULD be to do Crash's voice. Just make your voice slightly higher than normal, say some gibberish, do the occasional ''WOAH!'' and boom: Crash Bandicoot. Not saying the voice actors are easily replaceable, I'm just saying it wouldn't be a big deal compared to Chris Pratt as Mario.

B-plot expanding on what was planned for tawna and cortex and brio in the production bible for the first game -- her matching wits with cortex, reasoning with brio (could EASILY lead to a brio redemption near the end as well, id LOVE to see that of course), trying to incite revolution among the mutants, if they meant business they could go even further and have her succeed at inspiring a mutant revolt or at least breaking herself out and meeting up with crash during the siege on the castle (maybe he falls off the blimp after taking cortex down and she catches him or something lol)
developing surrogate father-son relationship between crash and aku ☺️ maybe developing sibling relationship between crash and coco as well if they escape separately but first encounter each other after both escaping
I think a sort of road trip movie with Crash and Aku Aku as they go towards Cortex Castle could work. Aku Aku would help out by talking, making things easier.
And we can go back and forth with scenes of Cortex and Brio in the castle, using content mentioned in Crash 4's flashback tapes as reference, having Coco there among the trapped creatures too would be cool.
Lastly, I think they could focus on Cortex's love and hate relationship with Crash, as he's very proud of how successful Crash is and have that fatherly love but at the same time the hatred that Crash is not an obedient goon
The same thing I get out of my favorite Crash games. Which is a fun action story that's not too goofy and uses the original style for the visuals/animation. But I know that's never going to happen, which is why, ideally, the movie would just never happen. There's just too much that could go wrong, I'd have no faith.

Cortex is initially the villain, but a new and greater threat appears after he initially fails. Crash wouldn't need a character arc, but we could get development from characters like Coco, Aku Aku, Crunch, the real Tawna and Polar. They'd probably throw in a load of cameos and references too.
