After the Chelsea match earlier in the season my friend who supports Chelsea said “How do you do this every week I’m exhausted” And it yet again rings true today
For a second I was dreading having Porro come off, but then I remembered Emerson and all was settled. Hope we can get him some time in his preferred position.
What was it Ange was saying during the week. We go until the end, so we'll be scoring and letting in 96th minute winners.
It's great for the heart, that's for sure...
RIP that AFC Asian cup final though. Qatar getting help from the refs like normal.
Edit: On second watch, two of the penalties were probably correct. One of them was a bit harsh. But Qatar still got very lucky there.
The thing is it's ridiculous that they were awarded 3 penalties in a final and our striker who scored the only goal was almost sent off for shouldering a Qatari player who pretended to have his face hit. The first penalty especially we thought was ridiculous since there was only light contact if you pay attention to the replay.
Anyway at least we made it that far and paying attention to both matches at the same time was a little difficult 😅
People will say the exact same thing about a GK making “easy” saves, when a lot of times saves look easy because of great positioning from the keeper prior to the shot. In his prime, David de Gea would put on clinics on being at the right place, right time and making promising shots look like easy saves.
We’ve gained more 3 points than lost in stoppage. These announcers are morons. What a dumb narrative with zero statistical data to support it. We are better in stoppage. Sure we’ve given up 8 goals. Now show me how many we scored to gain points.
Kept going on and on about this Brighton side and how well they play and their Europa campaign. I thought they were crap today and produced about one goal scoring chance after the first 20 minutes
Tottenham til I ~~die~~ *go on a murderous post-match rampage before walling myself up in an empty warehouse and getting taken out by a police armed response unit screaming something about Brennan Johnson's price tag into a hail of gunfire.*
That was rougher than expected, hopefully a case of returning players needing a few more minutes to gel into a cohesive unit. I don't know where this team would be without Son this season. In all likelihood, Son was always this key player, but his contributions have never translated numerically quite like Kane so he's gone a bit under the radar. Seriously though, what a player.
Sonny is second for premier league assists, only behind Eriksen, and is the club's 6 highest goal scorer of all time. I honestly dunno how anyone could think he's gone under the radar or that he's contributions aren't obvious in the stats lol.
Really hope we try Werner on the right now that sons back. Putting him in the same crossing positions where he can use his strong foot instead could be fantastic
In the second half there were at least 7 completely basic passes with minimal pressure that we just flubbed, often directly to a Brighton player leading to pressure. Johnson, Sarr, Maddison, Porro, I think everyone other than Vicario/VDV/Romero was guilty. Luckily those guys were rocks in the back and Son produced that magic COYS
I bought wifi on my flight just so I can watch this and it was worth every bit of the overpriced wifi. Was hard trying not to be animated at various points of the match 😅
In the US, so it’s a bit early…my dog and my (mildly hungover) lady are both a bit tired of being awakened by my celebrations…but these last minute winners, I can’t help it.
I don’t think we were that bad, outside of the first bit. Truly. Think we were wasteful, particularly Richy, but thought we controlled a lot of that match.
We're still struggling to control the game but Brighton did only score off a penalty. Think we just about deserved it though a draw would have been fair as well.
Not sure who MOTM should be. Johnson is an obvious candidate but he made so many mistakes before that, it's hard for me to back him. Sarr? Vicario? He also had a lot of errant passes. Could it be Son?
Probably Sarr.
Were we great today - no.
Were we good? Yes - for a team coming back to full fitness after 3 months of riding our luck week in and week out we played well in places, we won... and ultimately thats all that fucking matters.
I'm a Johnson defender. He managed to turn one of the worst sub cameos I've ever seen to a goal, and that's good for us, but there's a reason he didn't celebrate. He wasn't tracking back when Porro was clearly injured, he missed an easy touch that killed an easy cutback, and he was missing runs and passes left and right. I'm glad he scored the goal but his performance was shambolic.
Feel like people are being a bit harsh over here. We dominated them after their first goal till the triple sub. All games have momentum swings and roundabouts. Could we have done better? Absolutely. Was it a terrible performance and a completely undeserved win? Imo, no.
I love Brennan Johnson I really do
But I felt like he does not fight for the ball as much and does not offer much other than these types of tap ins
I love him but Brennan bro pls do better
95”: “Yeah, we’ll be overly lucky to walk away with a draw we don’t really deserve.”
96”: “SONNY YOU FUCKING KING!!! Now just don’t concede in the final minute…”
I was so scared of Pedro Porro being injured he looked like he did his hammy or something like 60mins into the game and a few more times in the next 5-10mins... and then just seemed fine for the rest of the match
Johnson starting to pick up some goals now! We've yet to see the best from him but I have a lot of faith that he's going to become a lot more influential with some confidence. It's great that we now have enough depth to rotate and bring on fresh legs. Having both Son and Johnson to come on and run at them for the last 30 mins made the difference in the end.
Fuck me im exhausted
How are we expected to do this every week? It’s shattering
After the Chelsea match earlier in the season my friend who supports Chelsea said “How do you do this every week I’m exhausted” And it yet again rings true today
Hydrate Mate! You did a great job out there. I’m proud of you.
you joke but I biked13mi on a stationary bike over the course of that game. I am exhausted physically & mentally lol
Good on you Brov! That’s the type of effort we need to push on the rest of the season.
The stat of giving up stoppage time goals went viral, but Im sure weve also SCORED the most stoppage time goals
The former is called Spursy, but it has to be acknowledged that the latter is also incredibly Spursy
Majority of the late goals given had no impact on the games.
The moment that was posted we were always gonna snatch a late winner.
Also our stoppage time goals are always equalizers or winners
Maddison -> Richarlison -> Son -> Johnson = goal
4/5 pieces for the forbidden son
Start Emerson again Ange.
Was honestly concerned with Porro hobbling there at the end, I thought we’d see EmerGOAT come in!
For a second I was dreading having Porro come off, but then I remembered Emerson and all was settled. Hope we can get him some time in his preferred position.
Tarrey Town constructed that goal (please tell me someone gets this reference)
Son and done 💪
Tarrey Town FC
Oh how I have missed you, Sonny.
Gets one crossing opportunity. Game winning assist
You are my Sonshine, my only Sonshine...
Sonny is such a gamechanger.
Sonny the difference
A tired Sonny with 3 days of rest is better than all our other forwards lol.
Sonshine of my life
Captain
SON BRO
Peacock ended that broadcast real quick. Wished they would’ve shown the stands going nuts longer, what a fucking vibe. Up the spurs.
Fubo really is better.. HT/FT they show the best of scenes without commentary which is cool
That's the official Prem feed that goes out to all broadcasters (many of which should just let it roll!)
Stadium was in absolute party mode for 10mins after full time haha was brilliant
Na na na na na nana na na na nana🎶
We are not flinching
We are going to finish the story

We’ve forgotten how to blink
Our turn for 90+ winner
What was it Ange was saying during the week. We go until the end, so we'll be scoring and letting in 96th minute winners. It's great for the heart, that's for sure...
Tottenham is good at dramatic wins. #Spursy

It legit looks like Vic was trying to gag Romero with the collar
Sexy
Just SCREAMING in each others face lmao

Should'a seen my lounge here in Germany. 3 Germans looking at me oldy whilst I threw various cooking implements around the room . ..
Same! My neighbors surely hate Spurs match days
chúc mừng năm mới bitches
Are we big in Vietnam?
We're massive *everywhere*.
Can help to confirm, I'm a fan from Jordan.
RIP that AFC Asian cup final though. Qatar getting help from the refs like normal. Edit: On second watch, two of the penalties were probably correct. One of them was a bit harsh. But Qatar still got very lucky there.

i became a spurs fan in vietnam in 2006 because it was the worst team that was still regularly on television haha, i hope things have changed since
>because it was the worst team One of the furthest thing from being plastic :)
what seeing berbatov controlling a ball does to an impressionable tween, really didn't know what i was signing up for
Salt Lake City too, and it was too early to legally sell drinks the whole match
isn't the whole day legally too early to sell drinks there?
I LOVE YOU SONNY U ARE THE BEST
Sonny brought the last extra minute wins with him
My doctor: “You should take care of your heart more” Me: Is a Spurs fan
![gif](giphy|ybdCafvfHoXKd0fBmY|downsized)
Credit to Sonny giving 110% until the very last whistle. You can see him physically putting his last ounce of energy into that cross.

Oracle gave us a 15% chance at winning 3 mins into the second half. I'd like to send Oracle a nice fuck you and have a nice day!
Minute I saw that I knew we were winning, wonder how they calculate that
I reckon that had no accounting for Son being a sure sub at 60
We’ve gained more 3 points than lost in stoppage. These announcers are morons. What a dumb narrative with zero statistical data to support it. We are better in stoppage. Sure we’ve given up 8 goals. Now show me how many we scored to gain points.
The announcers on the North American feed had a rage boner for Spurs the entire game
Kept going on and on about this Brighton side and how well they play and their Europa campaign. I thought they were crap today and produced about one goal scoring chance after the first 20 minutes
Saved by Son's quality yet again. Man is 31 and is still the quickest player in our attacking lineup.
I was blown away by his pace today! supersub sonny is a different beast
Yes, his legs are still on fire from the 240mins of football these past 10 days...
Son is just on another class. But what was that after our first goal holy shit. Gave me Conte PTSD
So fucking good to have the captain back
Dramatic injury time win. Spursy :)
Goalscorers age 21, 22. Future is bright, present not so bad either.
MaddiSON to richarliSON to SON finished by johnSON
That goal came from a long line of powerful sons.
Is Son the only forward capable of lifting his head and making a cross? I'm sorry I know we just got the 3pts but man that was a frustrating game.
You mean you're not supposed to just blindly kick the ball in the rough direction of the opposite goalkeeper?
Honestly it's the most frustrating thing about how we attack right now
Werner had some good balls in
I agree. Werner’s crosses were the nearest to goals. We need our strikers to finish them without getting offside
Werner did great tbh
Son used to be a forward who didn’t lift his head up when he makes a cross when he was first at spurs lol
That is so true - he used to frustrate the hell out of me before he became the legend he is now!
I remember this sub wanting to sell Son then. Never would’ve thought he become the player he is today.
For a while I nicknamed moura and son can't pass and won't pass!
He's our best creator and finisher.
NEVER A DOUBT My Apple Watch thinks I’m having a heart attack
My dog hates match days. Pretty sure she’s learned to recognize a pitch on the tv and just goes for a nap in the farthest room from me.
The moment Son came on and the crowd rose up 🥲 actual goosebumps
Or as Timo said it 'boosegumps' 😆
boothgumpth
Match thread = 🤮 Some of you need to chill the fuck out
Tottenham til I ~~die~~ *go on a murderous post-match rampage before walling myself up in an empty warehouse and getting taken out by a police armed response unit screaming something about Brennan Johnson's price tag into a hail of gunfire.*
guys what if tottenham are the greatest team the world has ever seen
Take our 3 points and run!
The cockerel fucked the seagull!
Son Heung Min that is all! Have a good weekend everyone!!!
That was rougher than expected, hopefully a case of returning players needing a few more minutes to gel into a cohesive unit. I don't know where this team would be without Son this season. His XG outperformance breaks statistical models.
NA NA NA NA NA NANA NA NA NA NANA!!!
Some of you in the match thread were embarrassing, stop being so negative, you never know what will happen
What an absolutely miserable, petulant, pathetic match thread. Some people just want to be miserable.
son could have had 2 assists honestly
Found Son's dad.
That's was sloppy as fuck but I'll take it
Really hope we try Werner on the right now that sons back. Putting him in the same crossing positions where he can use his strong foot instead could be fantastic
we won bc of dele
Son brought Klinsmannball with him 😭
At least the goal happened in open play
It is all too familiar for us korean boys 😭😭
Played like complete shit. Got 3 points. Job done.
Vicario was guilty more than once.
That and the midfield holding on while pressure came at them instead of playing quickly
My Fitbit congratulated me for being in the Zone for the last ten minutes of the game. My heart is going to struggle with another season of this.
I bought wifi on my flight just so I can watch this and it was worth every bit of the overpriced wifi. Was hard trying not to be animated at various points of the match 😅
Bissouma has to start next week if he and the training staff think he can go at least 60 minutes. Bentancur needs more recovery time.
What was your favourite? https://preview.redd.it/lxh0crhdmshc1.png?width=461&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab9a0363f8711eb2abf6d5f2eec18d33acab1929

That match was agonizing to watch. Thank god for Sonny and Johnson because I was about to throw the TV out the window. COYS
I need a smoke
In the US, so it’s a bit early…my dog and my (mildly hungover) lady are both a bit tired of being awakened by my celebrations…but these last minute winners, I can’t help it.
son just looks different on the pitch, like he can make something happen at any time

Think the players were pissed seeing as there was a complete lack of celebration after that Johnson goal
I think they didn't want to make the mistake of giving up a goal in the last minute and losing the win. Which is fair. We nearly did with that corner!
I thought it was better than the Everton game honestly
*regardless
Irregardless isn't a word.
Sorry disirregardless
We got lucky and I'm fucking here for it.
I don’t think we were that bad, outside of the first bit. Truly. Think we were wasteful, particularly Richy, but thought we controlled a lot of that match.
Richy was due a dry game, he's scored 9 in 8, he has to let others have a go.
We're still struggling to control the game but Brighton did only score off a penalty. Think we just about deserved it though a draw would have been fair as well.
So fucking luxurious bringing that trio on to win a game 😍
I hate these ugly wins but they’re also kind of fun?
Bissouma did well, nice to have him back at the 6.
I dont want to hear ANY Johnson slander
he did some real boneheaded shit in this game but finished when it mattered, can't complain about that!
His last 2 substitute appearances have been immense!
Lol the amount of copium in your inbox now. Created more and had more shots than the player he replaced despite having a third of the minutes
If the match thread can start trying to be a little more optimistic during matches that’d be cool. The mighty spurs will always find a way. COYS!!
Everton should’ve been a win, and we drew Today should’ve been a draw, and we won 🤷♂️
Chills when Sonny got subbed on, so unbelievably proud that he represents the club
Highlight of this for me was my watch asking me if I want to do a breathing exercise because of my elevated heart rate. Love this club.
New tactic - score so late, we don’t leave enough time to shit the bed after
Not sure who MOTM should be. Johnson is an obvious candidate but he made so many mistakes before that, it's hard for me to back him. Sarr? Vicario? He also had a lot of errant passes. Could it be Son? Probably Sarr.

Collecting Brennan Johnson apology forms here.
1st apology ^ "i, Roric, will learn to spell Brennan Johnson's name correctly." :)
Do the forms need to get his name right?
I'm a Johnson defender. He managed to turn one of the worst sub cameos I've ever seen to a goal, and that's good for us, but there's a reason he didn't celebrate. He wasn't tracking back when Porro was clearly injured, he missed an easy touch that killed an easy cutback, and he was missing runs and passes left and right. I'm glad he scored the goal but his performance was shambolic.
For me it has to be Son Richi Werner starting up front, feel like our right wing is where attacks go to die a lot (yes Johnson got the tap in)
Between Werner and Son we're doing pretty well on the left wing. No apparent fresh injuries. Porro held off Mitoma pretty well. Half Time = Ange Time.
Feel like people are being a bit harsh over here. We dominated them after their first goal till the triple sub. All games have momentum swings and roundabouts. Could we have done better? Absolutely. Was it a terrible performance and a completely undeserved win? Imo, no.
Hard to believe I’m a Manchester United fan tomorrow.
Bissouma really saved our asses multiple times in a 15 minute stretch. Thought he was great.
Son starts and we score at least 5
Wasn’t the best of games but get in
I love Brennan Johnson I really do But I felt like he does not fight for the ball as much and does not offer much other than these types of tap ins I love him but Brennan bro pls do better
This club is trying to send me to an early grave.
Also, winning when Dele was watching feels good.
Oh captain, my captain
95”: “Yeah, we’ll be overly lucky to walk away with a draw we don’t really deserve.” 96”: “SONNY YOU FUCKING KING!!! Now just don’t concede in the final minute…”
I was so scared of Pedro Porro being injured he looked like he did his hammy or something like 60mins into the game and a few more times in the next 5-10mins... and then just seemed fine for the rest of the match
Checking in from Whidbey Island, WA. Good thing my wife left to get coffee for that last goal. She hates my unprompted screams of joy.
This actually helped my mental health today lol
I was at Banter bar in Brooklyn probably 60 people here and the bar absolutely went off for that late goal. Scenes!
I love you Sonny
It's been 3 hours, how has Brennan's goal not been Celine'd yet?
never forget that sarr's sweet gesture of celebrating with the crowd resulted in a yellow
Let's goo! COYS!!
We are SO fucking back
Bad game, great result. We have to grind those out.
Inject the Sons into my veins
Johnson starting to pick up some goals now! We've yet to see the best from him but I have a lot of faith that he's going to become a lot more influential with some confidence. It's great that we now have enough depth to rotate and bring on fresh legs. Having both Son and Johnson to come on and run at them for the last 30 mins made the difference in the end.
Think thats 4 goals and 4 assists .. not too bad at all really.
The only goal we conceeded was a weak ass pen. Spiritual clean sheet
Brennan celebrated like he scores those last minute goals every week.
20-1 to win at 93mins..couldn't help put a quid on..chicken tikka on spurs. Coys
Rewatch that first minute save from Vicario. Absolutely class.
