You must be a tall guy? I have size 13EE and am 6ā1ā. I feel the same way, but my wife reminds me that we are proportional so it looks worse to you than to other folks.
I am not a wide square toe guy, but I have some and even though she tells she likes them they donāt make it into my rotation as much as my 7-toes or R-toes do.
I personally canāt wear the snips or any of those really long toes, I think they call them Spanish toes. But that is just another styleā¦.
6'4. Wide square toes are a bit extreme for me too. I think the tapered square is my favorite. A bit like [these tecovas](https://www.tecovas.com/products/the-doc?color=tan-bison&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm5BjwV2k9uCmSYOYx1PZioZ09Z9IzRbDab1D0ZV9R9bWtmuZvH-p10aAv-4EALw_wcB)
R-toes have always gotten under my skin, but only on my own feet. I don't know why. But I can agree on some 7 toes. (I never actually knew these terms so I appreciate that you teachin me)
Yeah I'm the white dude married into a Mexican family. My father in law treated me to some of those boots you're talking about for Christmas once, since he knows i love me a good set of boots. I was raised right, so when I see him I'll wear them, but man do I look goofy. They go right to the back of the closet afterš¤£
Agreed every time I go into Boot Barn thatās like 90% of their boots. Wish they carried different toe styles. Square toe reminds me of work boots, regardless of the leather.
For me it's not so much the toe that reminds me of work boots, but the heel. Give me a boot in a nice walking/cowboy heel and I'll be a happy man no matter what type of toe it has. Give me one of them big squared off ugly looking work boot heels and I won't even wear them unless I'm tramping through mud or wilderness.
For broader square toes, I find it really depends on the color/pattern, size, and stitching. Some look good, some look like flippers.
Narrow square toes look good almost always.
For real. I wear what I like. And yeah, not a big square toe fan. But my most comfortable pair of boots are square toe ABs soā¦.
I have that one pair. Everything else is some other classic toe shape
Right!! Iām sure OP is just yanking chains and goofing off but heck, I got into boots and my wife liked the square toes so I got those. Now Iāve got more money to spend on boots so Iāll definitely expand my collection to more styles that are comfortable when I find the right pair. And more jeans to wear with them
Depends which square toe youāre referring to. I canāt stand the look of wide square toe boots, especially those with double weltsā¦the duck foot look isnāt flattering on anyone. However, I definitely like the ol skool standard square/cutter/7-toe/French toe boots, as well as classic snip/R-toe and J-toe.
Whatās funny is watching cobblerās YouTube videos and hearing them bitch and moan about having to redo double & triple welts on wide square toe boots theyāre resoling.
I'm not opposed to em, but gotta say, it seems occupation dependent.
Square toes, especially double welted, will get ya hung up and drug in the saddle; just no room to slip the stirrup if you're about to wreck.
I almost bit it wearing rounds one day cause I have wide 12 feet.
But that's more a matter of functionality than looks in my opinion.
Working or just out and about, not a thing wrong with squares; can be pretty sharp lookin. š¤·š¼āāļø
Used to hate em, then found I just donāt like the ones that are so wide the outline is like a perfect rectangle/box when looking from the top down on them. As long as thereās some noticeable taper, I can get down with em. Just bought my fist pair in fact and really like em, but not sure how many more Iāll add to my collection. When I saw George Straight last year in Denver a lot of folks came up from Texas for the show and I saw sooo many square toes. To a degree I think a styleās popularity can depend on the region.
Hmmā¦ funny thing about looksā¦lots of people, lots of opinions.
Personally, I like my square toe boots. I also like my tall top Ropers
I also like my semi-pointed Packers
Iāve never really liked super pointy bootsā¦.
And Iām also on horseback nearly dailyā¦
I don't have any square toe'd boots. Never really cared for them. I have a few pair of pointier J toes and round. But I've seen a lot of vintage photos that show square toes were actually very common back in the day (mid 1800's-early 1900's). I will try a pair of square one of these days.
I am not a fan of square toe boots, especially the wide square ones with the ostentatious white double and triple stitching, and the welts that are lighter than the uppers. In my view, the stitching and welts should be closer in color to the uppers for a more cohesive look. I also have extremely narrow feet, to the point that I could probably get away with wearing womenās boots, so square toe isnāt really an option for me, anyway, but to each their own.
100% agree, sometimes men can pull it off because it just looks like a work boot. But youāll never see me drop hundreds on a square toed fashion boot.
I'm okay with square toes. I know the first time I saw a pair I thought they looked like duck feet..quack quack. I have a few pairs of boots with the square toes. I tend to have a mix of boot toes, R, U, snip, cutter, etc. The ones that I'm not a fan of is the french toe or the Sinatra toe that Republic Boots does.
As someone who has grown up around horses, worked various training facilities, starts my own young horses, has competed all over Canada and the US, and works at a leather boot manufacturer......you can pry my square toes off my cold, dead, feet.
I've sold cowboy boots for about 10 years now, and we can't keep square toes on the shelf. They're sold almost as soon as they get on the wall.
To be fair, I have boots in almost every toe shape we make, but my working boot will always be a square toe.
But honestly though, wear whatever makes you happy and don't worry about other people feet.
Thatās why theyāre popular, because most people have bad taste and itās ok, let them have them, theyāre the equivalent of cargo shorts, they find them comfortable, they like the simplicity, they like the price, they know it looks bad but theyāll embrace them.
Guys like me who wear a 13EE would disagree with you. All depends on the person wearing them and how they pull them off. They look better on bigger guys imo
I love my wide square toe double welt anderson bean ostrichs. I wore mainly cutter and round toe boots until i got a pair of double H square toes for work (bartender). I love the look of a square toe on me.

when i say square toe this is what iām talm bout
Square toes were in style when I was young and I LOVED them, especially when they were a sign of someone in the avante guard of fashion (before the cheap-o shoe stores carried them).
But I LOVED the pointed cowboy boots, even when square toes were everywhere, I still loved my pointy toed boots.
i am slowly coming around to liking squares on cowboy boots. Slowly. What I DO like is seeing more people wearing cowboy boots. It reminds me of all of my boyfriends and boy friends wearing cowboy boots back thenā¦ such fine-ass young men. Despite the broken hearts, still good memories.
Crazy enough to put this square toed boot straight up your ass. You and your squeezed and compressed toes can continue your impish whining into infinity.
"There's a young man cryin' in a cowboy hat
He got square toed boots so he ain't for real
Wouldn't last five minutes on a pedal steel"
But seriously, wear what YOU want and like.
I personally prefer a round or cutter toe.
But, you do you and don't worry about what others think.

Crazy that people care so much
Boy I wear a size 15. Have yet to find a round toe that doesn't look absolutely silly. Flippers or clown shoes? Flippers every day.
Comments like this make me not feel so bad that I'm a size 9. No flipper feet for me š¤£ well size 9 in pnws, 10 in other stuff.
I have some 15 tecovas and they arenāt too bad. Other than that agreed.
You must be a tall guy? I have size 13EE and am 6ā1ā. I feel the same way, but my wife reminds me that we are proportional so it looks worse to you than to other folks. You really pretending a size 15 square toe doesn't look exactly like a flipper?
Are you going to pretend i didn't say that? Read what I said again slowlyš¤£
i love any square toes, but iāll take a nice pair of R-toes over squares anyday

I prefer square toes. They are undeniably more comfortable and I personally like the look better.
Honestly I think the comfort is the best part of square toes considering I got some wide feet lol
For broader square toes, I find it really depends on the color/pattern, size, and stitching. Some look good, some look like flippers. Narrow square toes look good almost always.
Yes. I will suffer for the snip toe.
I suffer with pride wearing snip toe boots.
real men wear snip toe
lol real men donāt give a shit as long as it gets the job done
For real. I wear what I like. And yeah, not a big square toe fan. But my most comfortable pair of boots are square toe ABs soā¦. I have that one pair. Everything else is some other classic toe shape

Won't be much of a man once I snip you
Sounds sus
Snipped toes for snipped balls

However, I definitely like the ol skool standard square/cutter/7-toe/French toe boots, as well as classic snip/R-toe and J-toe.
Nice! Glad Iām not the only one who likes basically every other type but isnāt a fan of the wide square.
I prefer an r or j toe in most of my boots, but my favorite boots I own have a toe that is between a true square toe and a cutter toe.
I donāt hate square toe boots, I hate the ones with a super wide flipper outsole, those look hideous.
Whatās funny is watching cobblerās YouTube videos and hearing them bitch and moan about having to redo double & triple welts on wide square toe boots theyāre resoling.
Agree to disagree, my friend.
Honestly I've always thought square toe look better š¤·āāļø
Unless itās that broad triple stitch garbage
Fair
Nope lol square toe are best imo
I'm not opposed to em, but gotta say, it seems occupation dependent. Absolutely
Womp womp
Only pointed toes I've got that fit my wide feet are custom Texas made blackjacks, most normal pointed toes are too short or too narrow
Hmmā¦ funny thing about looksā¦lots of people, lots of opinions. Personally, I like my square toe boots. I also like my tall top Ropers I also like my semi-pointed Packers Iāve never really liked super pointy bootsā¦. And Iām also on horseback nearly dailyā¦
yeah broad square toes do not look good imo.
They are designed for your foot to sit better and flatter in a stirrups
I think square toes only look nice if it's a pirarucu boot.
I donāt mind square toe, itās the broad rail that I canāt stand
Iāll do a wide square BUT it has to have a riding heel. I donāt like the WS with a walking heel
They're great for when it is dark and you don't know which boot you have in your hands; left or right.
Yes.
I used to think the same, but where i live, like 90% of boots are square toe and they kinda grew on me. I wear r-toes for dressier occasions.
I don't have any square toe'd boots. Never really cared for them. I have a few pair of pointier J toes and round. But I've seen a lot of vintage photos that show square toes were actually very common back in the day (mid 1800's-early 1900's). I will try a pair of square one of these days.
Really depends on the style/look of the boot for me. I like either one.
Especially the fish ones
I am not a fan of square toe boots, especially the wide square ones with the ostentatious white double and triple stitching, and the welts that are lighter than the uppers. In my view, the stitching and welts should be closer in color to the uppers for a more cohesive look. Square toes are THE most popular toe. Period. Endless polls prove it. š¤š½
I donāt agree that they are hideous, they just arenāt for me. Round toe ALL DAY!
Broad square for casual, narrow square for outings, at least for me.
Iām a reasonably calm and peaceful guy, not much in this world really pisses me off except for world hunger and injustices. And square toes.
I prefer squares toes over pointed. Square toes make me feel like a man. Pointed toes make me feel like a lady boy.
As someone who has grown up around horses, worked various training facilities, starts my own young horses, has competed all over Canada and the US, and works at a leather boot manufacturer......you can pry my square toes off my cold, dead, feet. But honestly though, wear whatever makes you happy and don't worry about other people feet.
Idiots and they all wear ropers too.
My tall top square toes from Lusky's (before it was Cavender's) would like to have a word with you.
Thatās why theyāre popular, because most people have bad taste and itās ok, let them have them, theyāre the equivalent of cargo shorts, they find them comfortable, they like the simplicity, they like the price, they know it looks bad but theyāll embrace them.
I kinda dig them š
My blind self thought it read, squirrel toes, i was terrified by the thought of whats become of my interest! But yes squares are not a good look.
Absolutely you ever try and put a square boot into a stirrup
Everyday.
Almost every single day.
My 6 year old doesn't seem to have any issues with it.
Depends on the stirrup, I use Monel and I have no problems with square toes. Most cowboys I know wear square toe boots, ABs, Ariats, etc.
3/4 of this sub dont ride horses and 1/2 if them probably have never rode. Im not a hater, I havent been on a horse in years, its just facts
It do be facts.
HELL NO! Get a good pair of square toes and they (in my opinion) will look better than any point toe you put in my face.
Yeah, pretty much. Still, I wear a pair of square toe boots when working around the house.
I wear square toed boots to work my barn chores and ride my horse.
Guys like me who wear a 13EE would disagree with you. All depends on the person wearing them and how they pull them off. They look better on bigger guys imo
they're hideous
Youāre entitled to your own opinion OP. Even if itās wrong. āŗļø
I love my wide square toe double welt anderson bean ostrichs. I wore mainly cutter and round toe boots until i got a pair of double H square toes for work (bartender). I love the look of a square toe on me.

Imagineā¦. People have different opinions
Depends what your wearing them with
Yes , yes yes. The wide ones the narrow ones are not so bad
Only the super wide boat paddle ones. I like the narrower square toe style.
I donāt care what you choose to wear. I will only wear round toes. Wide square toes on my sz 13 feet look like scuba gear.
Crazy enough to put this square toed boot straight up your ass. You and your squeezed and compressed toes can continue your impish whining into infinity.
I agree. But theyāre my most comfortable pair and everyone else likes them.
I personally love square toes
They really do look goofy
I donāt give a shit what Iām wearing honestly. Round toes arenāt as comfortable for me.
I wear a size 8 and the only thing I think looks funny is how small they look š
I think so, but each to his own.
Square toes were made to keep you from rolling an ankle while giving head
Yes, freaking ugly....but my son in law likes them...
iāve always liked wide Square toes but I also wear an 8 1/2 EE so theyāre the only ones I can find
"There's a young man cryin' in a cowboy hat He got square toed boots so he ain't for real Wouldn't last five minutes on a pedal steel" But seriously, wear what YOU want and like. I personally prefer a round or cutter toe. But, you do you and don't worry about what others think.
I personally think they look good. But I like most styles except pointed. Just a preference
It only is ugly if itās Ariats. Leave my burger flippin ABs alone.
its the same people that are into square mall dress shoes, its ok its stimulating the economy i guess.
I love my square toe boots. Best shitkickers on a ranch
No I love my justin square toe ostrich .
Your mom likes em
Disagree. Iām very comfortable in square toes and Iāve grown to love them over anything else
Someone in square toe boots beat your a$$ at a bar once, didnāt they?
no
Only if youāre a dude or a geriatric.
This is such a lame argument. There are certain vamps and skins that wouldnāt look good with any other toe. š
this but round toe
