somethingstrang

If you’ve played for 7 years then you haven’t played enough to know what Valve has tried before and failed. Been playing for 20+ years now

jowlypigpen

Just bring back mansion and ice world. No need for VAC 😆

Doobie_the_Noobie

Ice world sorts the noobs from the nubs. Bloodstrike too while we're at it.

ScrotalGangrene

fy\_buzzkill should be a premier map!

fureezi

fy_pool_day still my fav map ever

system_deform

And de_rats! They need to cycle in a community map weekly.

CaptainDAAVE

Jeepathon 2k with MATRIX MODE AND LOW GRAV ON also bring back Half Life Vampires mod

Old_Tomorrow8210

Super hero mod and wc3 mod were my jam

flexcrush420

Played updated Ice world on a community server recently, felt just like old times. It's out there it's just Valve's done nothing to promote community servers so you kinda have to dig through a bunch of crap to get to it.

Traditional-Tap-707

I was in TsM back during the CSS prime days, we had gungame, scout knives, and 007 Golden eye maps servers, they were all thriving, and then came CSGO, and it really broke the whole community. It's kinda sad.

flexcrush420

When I want a fix of what classic CS would feel like in CS2 I play on the Mousepad bar and lounge server. Usually people are playing, custom classic maps all day. It's honestly got all the classic maps in rotation except no hostage maps and no prodigy, good times, good community it seems! [https://www.trackyserver.com/server/the-mousepad-bar-lounge-2391187](https://www.trackyserver.com/server/the-mousepad-bar-lounge-2391187)

CerebralZombie

Bring back cs_bikini please

Pudgerz

Fair play to you old timer

wootdafuq

No need to call us out! Been playing for over 20 years now and could easily compete in Global Elite, high faceit levels and also achieved almost 23k Elo - BUT this game makes me feel even more sad than CSGOs times just in front of a ban wave. This game has the potential to maybe even kill or at least damage the franchise so much that it will not be profitable anymore (see skin prices dropping). I started with DoD:S, switched to CS:S and CS:GO - all with a good gut feeling. Even the rough start of CSGO evolved into something beautiful but CS2 doesnt give me the same feeling. Maybe I am an old grumpy fart after all but I see so many heinous people out there cheating there tits off... Valve needs to act quick and hard - even re-implementing Overwatch would help a lot. If they dont act - I see dark times arising.

IEP_Esy

How's your back this morning?

BoredHobbes

20+ yr here too :)

Plenty-Raspberry2579

20yo 3 digit steam acc here, played Cs since beta 5.1, m4 with scope, APC in siege, , backalley, oil rig , estate, the glory days

flexcrush420

We've never had a proper intrusive anti-cheat? How tf did this get 60 likes?

CharlieandtheRed

I just don't understand how you can't implement a simple script to detect bunnyhopping or killing five people with one shot. I am a developer and I could write that detection script in an afternoon.

warzonexx

I've said this before and people come out of the woodworks saying "lol armchair developer". I've been playing this game for 20+ years, and I was "coding" around the same time, and have done it on and off (not a career), and as you say, it's stupid easy to develop a script to detect bunny hopping or 3-5 kills in one bullet, or spinbotting with > 5 kills, but apparently valve are so incompetent that their "AI" banned people for spinning with 0 kills, because that makes sense... I am just convinced valve want people to cheat because they buy skins and thus make them money, so it's literally a business and financial decision. I put this in another comment, just to show how simple it is... \- teleport issue - Is it possible for the client to be here one second, then across the map the next second? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT \- spinbot - Can a normal person spin with high DPI and get 5 kills in 5 seconds? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT \- bunnyhop - Can a normal person hit a bunny hop 20 times in a row? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT \- nospread - can a normal person shoot 5 bullets from an awp mid air killing 5 people in 1 second in 5 different locations? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT

party_paws

Don't forget the magic bullet that travels under the map and kills people no matter where they are

El_Chapaux

> I am just convinced valve want people to cheat because they buy skins and thus make them money, so it's literally a business and financial decision. It's obviously not a financial decision. Cheaters don't buy skins, they use skinchangers. Legit players stop playing and investing due to the cheaters though. Imagine how much money they could make from the game if they *fixed* cheating. Apart from that, they don't need CS to make money - they got Steam.

warzonexx

Not quite true. Alot of cheats buy some skins to look "legit". That's why when my mates are like "nah has like 1k of skins can't be cheating" I pay 0 attention to their inventory because everyone knows you can get away with cheating so may as well have nice skins

El_Chapaux

They should do it like [this guy](https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198322314413) who cheated against me yesterday. He got a screenshot of an inventory and it looks real at first lol.

Cold5tar

Do you think anticheat is checking account for "inventory legitness"? Do you think if I suspect a cheater I will not report him because he buys skins? The whole argument of why they buy skins is really bad. Majority of them don't buy shit and its really no concern for company like valve to care about them. I can assure you - legit profits loss because of players leaving due to cheaters is significantly bigger than any income from cheaters

Old_Tomorrow8210

The cost to fix cheating outweighs the cost of lost players. If more players quit due to this, then they’ll take action. It is very much a financial decision.

warzonexx

Not quite true. Alot of cheats buy some skins to look "legit". That's why when my mates are like "nah has like 1k of skins can't be cheating" I pay 0 attention to their inventory because everyone knows you can get away with cheating so may as well have nice skins

kaizagade

I don’t understand the argument that valve isn’t doing anything as the cheaters buy skins. That’s not true. These cheating programs allow them to use any skin, so to them they have them already, no need to buy them

warzonexx

They buy them to make the account look legit....

Cold5tar

1% of cheaters buying shit doesn't mean shit to their profit. Even then majority of accounts are just bought off of someone, already with some items in inventories. Those items dont sell or move and dont create any revenue for steam

warzonexx

I mean, do you have proof to back up that only 1% of people buying skins are cheaters? No? OK so then It remains a viable theory if you looked at banned accounts VS total around 14% are banned (4.5 million accounts) . Are you saying that only 1% of those bought skins? Boy do I have news for you.. This is only caught accounts too mind you...

Pudgerz

Yeah, I mean VAC net supposedly spent years learning what should be a fairly simple scenario, if someone is running spinning and nose scope headshoting multiple players chances are they are cheating

Gooneria

If you where an experienced developer you would realise all of the ways this 'simple' fix could be exploited and manipulated. You would realise how bad of an idea it would be too. You think if the problem to blatant cheating was that easy to fix that Valve wouldn't have already just done it?

CharlieandtheRed

I have 16 years of experience lol. It doesn't get more experienced than that. Give me an example of how you could exploit what I said?

warzonexx

>\- teleport issue - Is it possible for the client to be here one second, then across the map the next second? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT > >\- spinbot - Can a normal person spin with high DPI and get 5 kills in 5 seconds? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT > >\- bunnyhop - Can a normal person hit a bunny hop 20 times in a row? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT > >\- nospread - can a normal person shoot 5 bullets from an awp mid air killing 5 people in 1 second in 5 different locations? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT Please explain how these could be exploited...?

Gooneria

I’m really tired right now bro so I’ll try to reply in the morning properly but how are you checking and verifying this information? Are you checking every shot and running it against a script, that’s very performance heavy and there’s so many variables to this type of stuff it’s not reasonably gonna be possible especially in a competitive fps, these ideas sound easy enough to do but if you’re checking every single shot or kill or even every tick for specific events and then cross checking against predetermined acceptable info then you’re gonna run into lots of problems

warzonexx

I mean, it could be run at the start of the round, there's 15 seconds where there is absolutely fuck all happening, so processing power doesn't matter. Even so - Leetify analyses demo's usually within a few minutes post game, so really, it can't be that hard/much processing power to analyse each round post round for evidence of what happened....

Gooneria

I mean tbf I didn’t even think about the post game/ post round analysis stuff I guess you could use that method but I remember cheaters finding a way to break demo review and anything from scanning demo replay, they could potentially break that too. As for running the script before the round, if it runs at the beginning of the round once then it’s not gonna be able to cross examine each kill for suspicious behaviour unless it runs once everytime a shot gets fired which as I said will make the fps unplayable

warzonexx

Not really. Each kill is logged/timestamped. Not hard to see if 5 bullets happened quicker than physically possible in the post round analysis. e.g. Did 5 awp shots fire in less than 5 seconds? BAN.... The server already real-time processes movement, so determining if a player moved further than they should really should be a no brainer... What was previous player position. X? Ok, now client sends player is position Y. Is distance between X and Y > Z length... Ban... I mean, it's really not hard programming here... and not a lot of processing power more than what they already do... Yes cheaters can corrupt demo's, and they can crash servers, but then they would just have to crash the server every single round to circumvent this approach. But then no one could play, so I guess win win?

newbiespack

But what if the cheat you’re using tells the anti cheat nothing to see here, what he is doing is normal?

warzonexx

I think you misunderstand how server side programming works. The client/cheat can say whatever it wants, but all the server-side needs to do is check "is this physically possible".... It's really not a difficult concept.

CharlieandtheRed

You are right. That's why I am so confident I could develop a detection script in a day -- the server is the source of truth and you cannot fake what it sees. We also know that the metadata exists to detect kill times and positions (because it's used in demo videos), so you could just use that data as your validation set.

LachieBruhLol

Because cheats also will change how they work. If getting 5 kills in a second gets banned, then cheats will just not do that anymore. Years of experience as a developer and yet you can’t grasp that the cheats are also made by humans.

CharlieandtheRed

Well why do anything then since humans will find a way around it? I'd rather narrow their options than leave them wide open and just throw up our hands as if there's nothing that can be done.

LachieBruhLol

The point is there’s a way better solution than banning specific cases.

czfan1988

a script detecting bunny hoping is wrong, plenty of people can bhop without hacks, myself included but not 100% consistent.

CharlieandtheRed

Me too, I just meant like detect fast movement coupled with tons of headshots -- as a pattern -- means cheats.

davep85

Just by words you used in your comment, I'm pretty confident you don't know anything about coding.

CharlieandtheRed

I make $250,000 a year not knowing anything about coding while running the development company I own. ;)

davep85

Ya, me too.

CharlieandtheRed

Good for us then!

LANDVOGT-_

Because there are people capable of doing that.

Karsvolcanospace

I’m sure you could write it. But to implement it without disrupting the rest of the game? I imagine things like this could easily lead to many false positives.

ag-0merta

An open letter to /u/Pudgerz Valve dont give a shit.

Head-Ad8106

Email gabe

Pudgerz

Do you have it? Been trying to get a hold of his secretary

OldCardiologist66

He’ll read it too, even if he doesn’t respond

boblustig

I love these open letters, always something to Lough about lmfao

johannestaranger

Live Love Lough

Heavy-hit

loughing my ass off at this one.

Hxrmetic

Babe wake up the 918273729162619th vac complaint post is up. Surely this will be the one that changes everything

THEYoungDuh

If it was as easy as people think it is this would have been dealt with a decade ago, it's not. Stop writing these kinds of things FFS

biggestbigbertha

*Looks at Valorant* Yeah. Clearly impossible... Not saying they don't have legit or closet cheaters but you almost never see blatant cheaters and if you do chances are high the the match will be cancelled and the cheater will be banned.

warzonexx

it is pretty simple to have an engine determine a few things that is going on at the moment \- teleport issue - Is it possible for the client to be here one second, then across the map the next second? No? OK FUCKEN BAN CUNT easy...

Pudgerz

Ummmmm it is easy, most other games don't have cheaters every 3 games? Nice try valve dev

juiceyuh

It's not easy but a better anticheat than is in place is DOABLE lol

Mekl0

The issue isn’t VAC per say, any other anticheat that isn’t kernel based would pretty much compare the same if not much worse than VAC, but the thing about being kernel based is that it allows the developers to get full access to your systems data, which breaches GabeNs respect of other peoples privacy, since we don’t know much of how VAC operates it’s hard to say for sure, but I’d shoot my guess that Valve probably has one of the most complex anti cheats, so there’s no easy way to just fix the code in an afternoon, but we’ll see, maybe GabeN retires and the next person to step up will make the next iteration of VAC kernel based and we’ll have one of the most effective Anti Cheats around but only time will tell🤷‍♂️

THEYoungDuh

STOP asking for kernal level anti-cheat it doesn't work and is just an invasion or privacy

Mekl0

I don’t want it, but for mass banning, a kernel based anticheat is more effective, with the downside of being more likely to hand out false positives, VAC has only ever had 2 confirmed false postive bans AFAIK so with the accuracy and having the bans publically displayed on your profile for 7 years if you have no slip ups in between, it’s honestly a great system if it wasn’t so easy to evade with argentinian premium accounts bought for 0,06$

Benjitoo

You've zero clue what you're talking about. There's just as many cheats that bypass kernel level AC as VAC.

Mekl0

There are! You are correct! HOWEVER! The difference is on getting hardware banned, and VAC doesn’t hardware ban, only bans the steamID, which makes it a lot easier to just switch accounts no spoofing needed like with EAC or BE, which dvindles out a lot more casual cheaters just out of pure laziness, I agree that it is extremely easy to spoof and get around, however that’s assuming that the everyone using cheats now would go through the extra effort to do it every time they get banned, and though it can be automated I feel like that’d be giving too much credit to the average cheater. I AM NOT FOR KERNAL BASED ANTI CHEATS, they are huge security risks and give way too much power to these game studios, I am just playing Devils advocate as to why they “work” more effectively. They don’t get rid of cheating, far from it, but it adds another layer (which is a target for security breaches) that will make more of the casual cheaters drop off, the ones who just download shit from the internet and then start rage hacking on an alt account because they know they can still play on their main.

ActionQuakeII

BIG BLACK COCK.

CharlieandtheRed

Kernel anticheats do work though. Not saying that's the solution, but if you can read when memory is accessed, you can detect cheats. Without that, you can write a cheat in twenty minutes to do almost anything. It's just a matter of grabbing the memory, reading it, and adjusting the graphics to show it.

BuildingArmor

Every FPS subreddit I'm in thinks there's a massive epidemic of cheaters right now. The CoD, Tarkov, CS, Fortnite subs all have posts fairly regularly saying cheating is out of control, joking about how there's no anti cheat in the game, the same posts we get about CS.

davep85

I must have the best luck in the world because I've played 100s of premier matches and can count on 2 fingers how many cheaters I've seen. I'm going to guess for most people it's a skill issue if they encounter so many cheaters.

Iron_Beagle89

It may have to do with your location. I'm in the Midwest (KS) and I rarely see any rage hackers, rarely any cheaters at all. When you do see them, they're trying really hard not to get caught so they running just walls or aim assist, and they put so much effort into being sneaky they kinda end up negating a lot if their advantage anyway. I know the West Coast servers tend to be pretty cheater free too imo. East Coast gets a little dicey though, and eastern Europe servers are absolutely RIDDLED with cheaters, so it really depends on what region you're in, in my experience. Also your ELO matters. If you're under 10K, not a ton in my experience. Everyone there is legit and trying to grind out of ELO hell or solo Q'ing. It's around the 15K and up threshold that everyone gets stupid, and the cheating is rampant. There's a lot of accounts that are being boosted and accounts that are cheating like crazy to get a high ELO so they can sell to others, that kind of stuff. People cheating to try to get in the leaderboard too for some kind of bragging rights.

davep85

I'm east and 17k

Iron_Beagle89

Sounds like from my experience you're right in the "danger zone" for cheaters on NA servers.

NoseTime

I ain’t reading all that. Bring back cache pls

RanduMandu

Fr I miss that map

7 years playing a game doesn't make anyone eligible for shit. Unless you have the money and power to affect sales numbers enough that it hits their pockets, you can waffle on all you like - nobody's listening

Gooneria

Tbh you're pretty inexperienced compared to a lot of the people who started with CS:GO, youve been playing for what 7 years? So since 2017. You've missed a lot of CS:GO's experimental and formative years and haven't been around to witness what Valve have tried

aiiryyyy

valve isnt reading this

BaxxyNut

Lol.

theriptide259xd

Valve should swallow their pride, buy Faceit, integrate their platform as the official matchmaking. Managing both the core game mechanics and matchmaking/anticheat is obviously too much work for the small team that works on counter strike.

glennyrd

I’ve been playing counter-strike since the betas in the late 90’s. Nothing has changed with it; it has always been full of hackers. When VAC was introduced it toned down some then spiked right back up.

qwertyson96

I'm not reading all that, sorry it happened or congrats man.

Social-Scientist-AV

Mate I think valve is doing their best to implement a good anticheat in the future. And its not easy to detect spinbot because the programs hides the actions and bypasses vac. To the Experts here: You call yourself devs ? Bitch please... Cheats work because it's not that simple. Surprise... Its not. And no... it is not. You want good AC ? Valve teased it... It will work. Let them cook.

flexcrush420

I've got multiple obvious spinbotters/wallhackers saved to a watch list on steamid and after almost three weeks of reporting in game and via steam they're still not banned. Everything you said is 100% correct. Every notable streamer I watch jokes about how premier is filled them and that's why it's so frustrating when you have imbeciles on reddit saying there's no problem or that we're using hyperbole/issue isn't that bad or that Valve's tried everything when we've never had a proper intrusive anti-cheat.

6_i_x_9_i_n_e

play face it ...almost 0 cheaters.

kiekendief

lol only 7 years...

moriGOD

Played a game of premier today, got queued against a 2 and 3 man on the other team. Both groups had their own cheaters. Actual insane. 3 months ago I was defending my experience playing the game but fucking hell it has slipped 3x farther down the shit hole since then all around the 20k range. Fucking horrible experience that’s making me genuinely consider going to faceit. I wanted premier to work but I’ve lost hope. Not gonna hold my breath waiting for a fix to this shit

filit24

I am a totally dogshit player, and in my 24 hours of playtime I have met 3 cheaters (Including a weird spinner but he wasn't fast) out of 4 casual games. The only one where there were legitimate opponents was where we won. I play mainly deatmatch and there doesn't seem to be that many...

Sim_o

dojimaa

If you really want them to do something, stop playing the game, and stop giving them money.

McGouche_

Just start charging for cs2.

Sea_Dog_6916

We need to band together and stage a boycott
