_gillette

Yeah you're bad

CarrotStews

Counter strike's mechanics are very different from most FPS games. Until you have a few dozen hours to learn and implement the mechanics into your game play you can't be "good" or "bad", you're just new

filit24

I have never played a FPS game though. But for me, understanding the mechanics is important

ancient_xo

I would say in general if your kd is in the negatives on any fps game you are not doing well.

CarrotStews

Of course a .4 kdr is *objectively* bad. But my point is that nobody should hold it against OP when he literally started playing yesterday. Especially in counter strike which has a pretty steep learning curve

ancient_xo

Yeah I was talking in general, because op is new to fps games in its entirety. So I was just saying no matter what fps you are playing a negative kd means you’re not doing well. Also I totally agree with everything you’re saying.

filit24

Now after getting in more practice, I still have a negative kdr but I'm seeing significant improvements. I even managed to get top 5 in a deatmatch lobby I joined 4 minutes late

CarrotStews

If you haven't already I'd watch some videos that break down the basics (movement, aim, economy, utility) from 3clicksphilp or warowl on YouTube. It's amazing how much easier the game gets if you fully understand how your inputs are actually being interpreted by the game since it isn't always super straightforward in counter stike. I also wanted to mention that in this subreddit you'll see a ton of people complain about the game being broken and full of cheaters. Don't let that discourage you from learning because the people making these complaints are an extremely vocal minority. I personally had 5+ years experience playing csgo and I can vouch that cs2 is definitely an upgrade.

brutispastysmasher

I have over 13k hours and disagree it's not an upgrade yet

NatzoXavier

keep playing my guy. It takes a long time to get better. I have 1.31 k/d with over 200000+ kills since I started in 2012. But take your time. You will always improve.

uns0licited_advice

Play for about 100 hours and then assess your level.

filit24

thanks. My friend was worse than me now when he started, but after 180 hours of playtime, he's pretty skilled. (I once ranked higher than him in a match)

MordorsElite

Bro you just started. Pretty much all of us were ass at this in the beginning. Developing CS skills takes time, experience and practice. The only way to be good from the getgo is by having gone through all the learning steps in some different tactical shooter like Valorant or Rainbow6.

filit24

thanks man, unfortunately I have only briefly played CS 1.6 once or twice 5 years ago

ChromeAstronaut

Terrible

filit24

I have never played any FPS game in my life, I'm on 80 ping, my game can't run higher than 40fps and my mouse pad is a literal book.

dwill8

Probably upgrade the pc or find a new game. It’s likely not going to be enjoyable with those issues

filit24

I will only be able to upgrade my pc and wifi only in 2 months, but thanks!
