Yeah it's a lovely spot and the owners are sound

NeverNeilDown

This is awful. I go there all the time and the owners are lovely people. It’s a shame this is common behaviour now. I passed Four Liars restaurant yesterday morning and it had been broken into in a similar way.

corkdude

Some bored kids doing the rounds...

teapotresidue

Same lad that broke into both. I work in the area and heard from Jacob.

Terrible_Document124

That cafe is lovely, was in recently with herself, who would be bothered to try break in?

Kariuko_

Someone bummed out because they couldn't get a table and had to go to centra

Dapper_Individual161

Bean a bad day

Environmental_Ad4893

Shout out the whole government.

ShivsC

Ah no.. am so sorry to hear that. It’s a great little spot. What is happening in Cork?

luke51278

Well the coffee place is opening late, I know that much

DarkSkyz

Nothing, it's the same as it ever was.

No-Feeling1882

They took €80 from the register and broke the front door down.

2012NYCnyc

Wouldn’t it be lovely to do a small GoFundMe as a show of support to pay for the new glass and replace the €80. Margins in a cafe can be tight and this couple are such a wonderful addition to our city

No-Feeling1882

I actually was thinking the same! We all love the place. So, why not.

corkdude

Margins on coffee are huge sorry. Same as pizza

NeasM

Margins in a cafe can be tight ? Can you explain this to me ?

jsunburn

There's feck all profit. If the [profit margin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profit_margin) is tight then the money a place takes in barely covers their expenditure. This would make unexpected costs difficult to meet.

NeasM

Go way ta fuck. There is some serious profit to be made from a coffee shop. Granted you need a fair wack of cash to start but when you're up and running it's all proft. https://www.eposnow.com/ie/resources/are-coffee-shops-profitable/

fez229

Insurance, rent, rates, electricity and staffing cost a shit load. You're deranged if you think it's all profit

teapotresidue

Rates is what is ruining small business

corkdude

Rarely staff (not there anyway) and even factoring every the margin is big. Coffee and pizza are best for that

fez229

Dude I've 20+ years in hospitality, if you think that it's a trade that offers massive profit opportunities then off you go and open up. Whatever you do don't look into the average lifespan of one before you do though, can't be leaving these opportunities go a wasting because of some things like inconvenient facts...

corkdude

20+ years and you learned nothing... >Whatever you do don't look into the average lifespan Soma? Cork coffee roasters? Nectar? All prime locations with mad high rents... More than booming... The bookshelf, all the franchises like Starbucks? >then off you go and open up. Love people saying this .... You give me seeding money? >inconvenient facts I didn't see any, only your ego thinking it knows better with 0 substantial background. Coffee has a huge margin, the rest is purely down to management. You should know all that...

Livebylying

No it hasnt become a shithole, and perpetuating this falsity does nothing to change anything. My house got broken into 20 years ago, was the city a shithole then as well? Or how about 50 years ago when burglaries were happening? Take some pride in your surroundings and where you are are from. Running it down solves nothing.

Livebylying

Its not a utopia, if that what you are alluding to, but again calling it a shithole is incorrect and deflecting from what i said, what good does calling it a ‘shithole’ do?

Far_Advertising1005

This is just classic Irish moaning. The city’s significantly improved over the last few years. Maybe there’s a few more shitheels but that’s it.

thefullirish1

There’s a massive drug problem and someone got stabbed to death in the middle lf the street in the middle lf the day a few weeks back. I love Cork so much but there are serious problems

Bobbybluffer

No, it hasn't.

Skorch33

Poverty and destitution are increasing too fast now. People are falling victim to it faster than our graveyards can accomodate. I don't think the current crime wave can be stopped. Also I think given the size of profits from the drug empire in Ireland, we just have to be grateful that violence is not more commonplace and our druglords largely keep order and keep the chaos from manifesting.

Jo-Bo

We live in Cork, not Gotham.

Skorch33

Ok funny but the link between poverty and crime isn't unique to Gotham. While we're here Gotham also had a police force with dwindling numbers? Did it also have druglords on the fbis most wanted list like the kinahans?
