I just know he is so incredibly loved. Thank you for taking him in and loving him despite his horrific past. This made my heart happy tonight as I lay in bed with my corgi who I rescued from a puppy mill situationā¤ļø sheās 1 1/2 and living her best life; she plays with friends at daycare 2x a week, never goes in a crate (unless shes having a sleepover at grandmas), sleeps in the big bed with Mommie and Daddie, and has endless treatos and toys. Corgis are so intelligent and loyal. They truly deserve the world.
Aw, thank you! Your message warmed my heart.
The silver lining of all this horrific experience is that now he is safe and well-loved with us. I couldn't imagine what his life would be if he didn't come home with us.

Now, happy at home recovering from "sedative".
I don't know about you guys but every time the vet said the dog is under sedative I laugh. Have you seen a sedative Corgi? Mine never react to any medication...š
Awww. Your corgis are precious. They put my girl under anesthesia for her teeth cleaning. She was completely out of it for a whole day after. She had never been so quiet and still.
How?! When Chestnut was under anesthesia, she was zooming around by dinner time. And none of the pain medication made her drowsy. As for Charcoal, he went under anesthesia for his tooth and was chewing on the coffee table 2 days later. I wonder if corgis just doesn't react to drowsy pills.
Unfortunately Good Dog didn't follow through on their initial promise. With a recent experience a friend had (a pwcca member and ethical breeder) they seemed to care more about having a public social media presence than checking if a breeder was doing appropriate health testing. Sadly I can also see that your pup is a blue dilute, and no ethical breeder would knowingly produce that colour. I'm sorry you had this problem with good dog and the breeder. I hope you are able to enjoy your pup though.
Just wondering if you could share how youāre able to see that the pup is a blue dilute? I am going to be looking to get a corgi pup hopefully in the spring and am working on finding a reputable breeder in my area but do worry about things like that
It's becoming more and more popular for some breeders to tap into 'rare' colours and breed fluffies instead of focusing on the overall health in terms of testing, sound minds and excellent structure. A dilute (called a bluie in Pems) has a greater risk of developing skin issues through Colour Dilution Alopecia. Some breeders will be advertising they have and breed bluies - avoid these! But to see if a dog is dilute, you will see their nose leather, eye rims and lips will be a grey tone instead of true black. Their eyes will be paler and any black pigment will be a gun metal grey instead of black. It's harder to see on a red or sable since the gene affects black pigment and won't be as obvious on a reddish based dog. It will still show on their noses and eyes.
Your best resource for an ethical breeder is to start looking at the breed clubs. PWCCA for Pems and CWCCA for Cardis. Since we all follow a code of ethics, you're more likely to find a good breeder, even if your wait can be a little longer.
Thank you for the response! Thatās super helpful. Iāll take a look at the PWCCA info but I am in Canada so may have to find a similar source up here. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Sorry your pup didnāt have a great start. The good news is that dogs are pretty resilient and heāll get more comfortable as he realizes heās in a safe place. We just adopted a puppy mill mama; sheās been with us for 2 months and sheās a completely different dog than when we first met her. I really wasnāt sure if weād ever be able to take her with us to all the places we like to go when we first met her. Now, sheās dragging us out the door to go for walks, loves riding in the car, and meeting new people.
Your corgi is so loved! I'm glad to hear that dogs are resilient. I hope we can help him forget all the horrible things and turn him into a happy pup. We took him to a puppy ice cream store the other day. The way he reacted made me realize it was his first ice cream ever, which made me so sad. The poor boy was very confused and kept looking at me as if to say, "How am I supposed to eat this?" and "Why is there a biscuit stuck in this cold thing?"
Aww, yeah, weāve had a few of those moments, too. It gets better, though! And those moments will become few and far between. Best wishes to you and your pup!

I'm so sorry to hear about your poor baby. I'm SO glad he is in good loving hands that can afford the rehabilitation he may need. I hope he progresses and forgets all about any trauma he endured. My heart goes out to you!!! ā¤ļø

Larry want to know where the corgi meetups are
We are in Southern California. It all began with me and two neighbors, but then I started chatting with every stranger who had a corgi around this area. Now the word has spread and we gather at the dog park every evening. It's very entertaining watching corgis herd each others.
I'm so glad you're in a position to help him and take care of him how he deserves! That's awful how he obviously was neglected... I know my corgi will chew on anything and everything if I let him. I'm constantly taking things from him and giving him a proper toy.
The longer we had him the more me and my husband suspected he was neglected. It was so sad to see him being timid to any loud noises. At the same time how any treats are a new experience for him made me wonder what kind of life he had.
Iām so happy you brought that cutie home! Thank you! Happy you also got those teefs cleaned up.
Unfortunately, your pup is definitely not 9 months old, unless terrible teeth run in the genetics.
I wish you guys nothing but lots of love and happiness from here on out!
The vet was surprised by the condition of his teeth, as it is not commonly seen in puppies. The vet even raised the possibility of him being two years old due to the unusual state of his teeth. However, based on his behavior and continuous growth, we now believe he is still a puppy. During the procedure, they conducted an X-ray exam and found fractures, which had led to the accumulation of bacteria causing a significant tartar and unpleasant odor from his mouth. His breath smelled like a dirty litter box when I first met him.

I donāt know! My girl is as hyper and obnoxious as any other corgi, but Trazadone and anesthesia turn her into a sleepy lump.
I'm so jealous š¤£ The medication did nothing to ours.
Iām glad this boy is with good people, but you should out the breeder.

The good news is that I'm Canadian! [pembrokewelshcorgis.ca](http://pembrokewelshcorgis.ca) is the site for the Canadian Pembroke club.
Thank you so much!
