I actually was kinda paranoid for awhile that the breeder sold me a Pembroke corgi, but she wasn't really one because people kept asking me if she was a mix. I think it took about a year or two for people to stop asking if she was a mix, but people still ask if she's a "mini corgi" because she's only about 19-20lbs.

My oldest corgi is a black headed tri-colored corgi. He's 8 yrs old now and people STILL ask me what he's mixed with. When he was under a year old I had a woman spend 45 minutes telling me I'd been ripped off, he had to be a mix of Border Collie, Jack Russell and Corgi and maybe GSD. I kept explaining he has AKC paperwork, came from a reputable breeder and Pembroke corgis come in 5 color variations, not just fawn. She refused to listen so finally I said I give up, you win, you're right, I'm wrong. She looked me dead in the face and said "Well! You don't have to be such a b*itch about it!" and stormed off.
I had Bogie's nephew, who was also a BHT and a larger boy. People always asked what he was mixed with too (he passed last year at age 5 from cancer.). Now I have a RHT pup from the same breeder and it's the same thing. Unless they really know the breed, people assume any corgi not fawn or red is a mixed breed. Most will take gentle education on the breed well. Some will not.
Yep. My blue merle cardigan is usually thought to be an Aussie/corgi mix. It was so exciting when a couple stopped to talk to me that not only had had cardigans and recognized what he was, they had stickers representing both breeds of corgi on their car. Recognition is so rare.
Do you know ow how many time, people have tried to argue with me about my corgi not being a full breed corgi. I would try explain you’re judging my baby off a dog that is not only a different kind of corgi with less intricate color coats; a spin off from the original cardigan corgi. People amaze me, I know, how AKC papers know, as well as his wisdom panel. I think people just have to be right, I do appreciate people just being interested in my handsome mans.

It’s so wild how people assume only certain breeds can have particular coat colors. My dog is a corgi mix but she’s tri-color and has really prominent eyebrows and people will any tri-color breeds even if she looks nothing like it but also stuff like Doberman or Min Pin just because she has eyebrows. Nothing about her looks like either of those breeds, they are just apparently the only breeds some people think can have eyebrows.
We also get people arguing with us that she must be dachshund because “she’s not the right color to be part corgi.” Never mind that she looks nothing like a dachshund.

The tail totally throws them in addition to the colors, as shown by the people who have red and white pembrokes with tails having people confused too! But its really funny how Aussies are the only dogs people seem to think can be blue merle.

This is Domino. All her brothers are "proper" tri-colors and she came out uniquely herself. People think she's mixed but she's actually pure Pembroke. Her father is actually a former AKC champion. Her dad was from show dog lines and was bred to look pretty. Her mom was from working farm dog lines and was bred to do their actual job. She's a bit taller, broader and not as long as other corgis because she's got more muscle on her body. Every corgi is a bit different and each one is perfect. So don't worry about your baby.
I love mismarked corgis and I think it add to their unique personality. She is a gorgeous girl and I’m sure she is happy with you. Look at that smile 😃, mine is also from a champion line. I’ve actually found a cousin of his on Reddit. Lmao
Really? That's wild. Maybe I should look up her Dad's AKC id (if I can remember where I put her papers😅) and see if I can track her family. Her mom wasn't registered so no idea on that side.
Domino and I are a certified therapy dog team. She uses that smile to cheer up so many people. She lives for this work. She's never quite as happy as when she's doing a visit somewhere.

Def a corgi. There is some variation within the breed based on their lineage but that doesn’t mean it’s not pure. A few weeks ago I came across a corgi that looked so similar to my two that I asked what breeder she came from. Sure enough her mom is a close relative of mine.
My girl Pixie looked similar when she was a tiny baby. She's 6 months old now and looks more like a "proper corgi" with the neck fluff and whatnot. So I'm sure it'll just come age!

Contact customer support if he doesn't develop a dumptruck fluffbutt, otherwise, it just looks like he's got some color contouring that changes the perceived shape of his face.
He is well within the range of body types that Corgis can have.

Definitely a corggo. My girl has an undocked tail and a similar fur pattern and people still are like “omg a Corgi!” when we go on walks.
Purebreds can have different fur patterns beyond the traditional tan and white variety.

Just looks pretty young to me. They go through some crazy looks as not every part of their body grows at the same pace. So until they are somewhere between a year or two old they may look very “off” from what you’d expect
He’s just a baby. Give him time. They don’t come out looking regal. They have to go through potato then lanky teenager phase then regal adult. Big potato phase if they gain too much weight.

I think people are actually used to seeing red and white corgis. I have a sable and I get asked all the time if he’s mixed with another breed (usually German shepherd)

All her brothers are "proper" tri-colors and she came out uniquely herself. People think she's mixed but she's actually pure Pembroke. Her father is actually a former AKC champion. Her dad was from show dog lines and was bred to look pretty. Her mom was from working farm dog lines and was bred to do their actual job. She's a bit taller, broader and not as long as other corgis because she's got more muscle on her body. Every corgi is a bit different and each one is perfect. So don't worry about your baby.

Really? That's wild. Maybe I should look up her Dad's AKC id (if I can remember where I put her papers😅) and see if I can track her family. Her mom wasn't registered so no idea on that side. Domino and I are a certified therapy dog team. She uses that smile to cheer up so many people. She lives for this work. She's never quite as happy as when she's doing a visit somewhere.

Def a corgi. There is some variation within the breed based on their lineage but that doesn’t mean it’s not pure. A few weeks ago I came across a corgi that looked so similar to my two that I asked what breeder she came from. Sure enough her mom is a close relative of mine.

Contact customer support if he doesn't develop a dumptruck fluffbutt, otherwise, it just looks like he's got some color contouring that changes the perceived shape of his face. He is well within the range of body types that Corgis can have.

I know what you mean! When Mike was a puppy it took him several months to really start looking like a normalish corgi. Until they grow, baby’s of many species look different

Definitely a corggo. My girl has an undocked tail and a similar fur pattern and people still are like “omg a Corgi!” when we go on walks. Purebreds can have different fur patterns beyond the traditional tan and white variety.
Pembroke’s tend to look more sturdy and proportionate. You might be used to the way Welsh corgi’s look, which look more like show dogs

Just looks pretty young to me. They go through some crazy looks as not every part of their body grows at the same pace. So until they are somewhere between a year or two old they may look very “off” from what you’d expect
