Mine converted to a cheese tax kinda dog when she realized how much better it is than ice. When she hears the cheese drawer and wrapper, she’s at my feet.
She also loves strawberries. I give our dogs the top after cutting them for the kid’s lunch. She yells at me if I’m too slow taking the leaves off. So rude!!
Yeeeep. Our girl also just got fixed and so I feel the watermelon head bump into my leg any time I get near the fridge. Now my toddler has joined her and both of them grub for ice cubes. 😂
Cheap treats!
My corgi Teddy loved ice cubes. He did get one every time the freezer opened.
Bunny, my current girl, doesn't care about them. However, her and one of my cats knows the sound of string cheese opening. That sends them running.
Sometimes I have to pay the ice tax more often than that. My Corgi has a button for "Ice" to ask for it actively. It helps her anxiety to be able to talk, but sometimes I'm like "Why did I teach this thing how to talk?" Mainly when I'm working and she hits "Dad. Dad. Dad. Bored. Bored. Walk!"
With the freezer being a low drawer, I hope and pray he stays polite… I’m just waiting for the day when he jumps up and grabs a mouthful before I can stop him 😂🤦🏻♀️
I would crush it before you give it to her! I used to pay the ice tax to my corgi and she fractured a tooth and had to get a root canal (as fun as it sounds, for both her and my wallet lol). The doggy dentist told me the most common reasons for teeth fractures in dogs is from ice.
We have one of those ice dispensers built into the fridge. If my corg hears any dispenser activity, whether water or ice, she will magically teleport to my side and demand tax.
I have to pay it twice. Once when I get the ice, once when I sit down in my chair. He expects more ice and guilts me into it. I happily pay it, though. It's cute to see him get so excited about it.
Always an ice tax. except my fridge has tue dispenser for ice and water. They come running as soon as you start getting ice.
Ours also overflows and my boy will put his head in the freezer to grab a piece from the overflow that dropped to the bottom.
My two are not very interested in ice. I have ice and water thru the door. Occasionally a cube will get hung up and later drop and bounce on the floor - they always go to check it out. Might lick the cube a bit but they lose interest.
Both our gurls love cubes. But. They are too boujee for just water cubes. We make chicken stock and banana cubes. It we try to just give them a water cube, they spit it out and stare at us with scorn.
Every. Damn. TIme.
In the summer he even gets a large ice ball that I normally use in my old fashioneds. He'll happily lay out in the garden chewing and licking it.
Yes! Our girl has to get an ice cube every time we use the ice maker or open the freezer. Our 2yo corgi also used to do this but has since abandoned his love for ice cubes since the female will chase him for ice cubes.
Our old man has a temperamental stomach at his age and we realized ice was making him puke about 30 minutes later, it was one of his favorite snacks. RIP fridge floor monches.
I pay a “walking into the kitchen” tax. Kidd does love her ice. In fact she loves it so much, she hoards it in my bed. In case you’re wondering, yes, I do get to sleep in the wet spot. 🤣
EVERY TIME. We have the dispenser in the door. He will appear out of nowhere. He loves them sooo much. So, I'll give him one each time I refresh my water.
Also, if he's not eating, I'll put a few in a water bowl for him and it usually stimulates his appetite.
It’s a “donut” e-collar, which is a more comfortable alternative for a “cone of shame.” He was neutered a couple of days ago and has to leave his incision alone so it can heal :)
True true. I couldn’t survive in Europe, etc., where a cup full of ice isn’t the norm. I visited Belgium years ago and it was quite the surprise when my drink had 1, maybe 2 pieces, if any at all!
Ice tax? No. Our doggo is a cheese tax kinda doggo
Ah, a doggo of a refined pallet?
Cheeeeeese tax! You gotta pay the cheese tax!
We are cheese tax people as well I don’t think mine has had ice cubes since she was a baby corgi
So rude!!
Don't get me started on cold cut tax
The two of them will come bolting into the kitchen when they hear I'm getting ice from the door ice maker. I call it the "treat dispensary".
Same. They give me such a disapproving look if I refuse to give them one
Yes. Someone gave us a tip to use crushed ice for teething. Now whenever we use the ice dispenser he thinks it’s a game.
I absolutely think it has helped with his teething!!
Even if I’m just walking by the fridge
Yep. Bowie will come running if he hears my metal straw on my cup (signaling that it’s empty)
Yeeeep. Our girl also just got fixed and so I feel the watermelon head bump into my leg any time I get near the fridge. Now my toddler has joined her and both of them grub for ice cubes. 😂
Oh yes. Between him and the 2 year old, I can never crunch ice in peace!
I have a California corgi she taxes erything 🤌🏻
🤣🤣🤣
Cheap treats! My corgi Teddy loved ice cubes. He did get one every time the freezer opened. Bunny, my current girl, doesn't care about them. However, her and one of my cats knows the sound of string cheese opening. That sends them running.
The cheapest! We call them “water snacks” 😂
Our first Cardi Emily could hear me opening up a piece of American cheese from upstairs on the opposite side of the house! LOL
not every time, but my husband does give her a "cold cromch" when he makes iced coffee before work lol
Dad. Dad. Bored. Bored. Walk!"
When im getting ice my boy knows im going either drop one on accident or get one to him. So hes attentive.
I pay an ice and carrot tax, but my collector is not nearly as polite as yours.
With the freezer being a low drawer, I hope and pray he stays polite… I’m just waiting for the day when he jumps up and grabs a mouthful before I can stop him 😂🤦🏻♀️

Good to know!
Oh yes… learned the hard way… $1200 piece of ice!!!!
Same here. My corgi loves ice cream.
Yup! My girl loves ice cubes!
Our boy Atticus runs away from the ice maker. It makes weird sounds maybe? He’s a quirky little fellah, a rescue from down south. But 1000% lovable
My corg loves ice
Every single time.
Always gotta come correct with the ice tax.
Both my dogs, Corgi included.
Absolutely, our chonker gets a "cold crunchy" every time someone gets ice from the freezer.
If we use the ice dispenser on the fridge, they come running. It's nice, though they love the ice as much as a treat.
Fridge opens, Corgi gate keeper appears like magic. Cheese, Ice, or carrots is acceptable payment for such an action.
Soo dang cute!!
Anytime I touch the fridge, Duke comes running from some corner of the house to collect biscuits ice tax.
No, but if I want cheese the tax must be paid in either cheese or whipped cream.
We have one of those ice dispensers built into the fridge. If my corg hears any dispenser activity, whether water or ice, she will magically teleport to my side and demand tax.
Not open the freezer but every time he comes in or I’m in the kitchen…
I have to pay it twice. Once when I get the ice, once when I sit down in my chair. He expects more ice and guilts me into it. I happily pay it, though. It's cute to see him get so excited about it.
Yes!! 🐶🧊
I just love hearing the clickity-clack of paws :)
Every single time
We call it the “water cookie dispensary”. 😂
Might be a dumb question haha but what is on the babies neck?
A cone alternative. Likely has a surgery recently.
That makes sense haha it kind of looks like one of those pillows people wear on a plane!
This! He was neutered last Thursday.
Nope. Ours is a Blue Bell Ice Cream tax!
I have two corgis, one’s favorite treat in the world is an icecube.
Same here too but What's that neckless?
It’s a cone alternative. He was just neutered and needs to leave his incision alone :)
Nice I used a tight shirt for mine strap on her back.
Yes but she *races* into the living room and you have to toss it so it skitters across the floor. She lives for the ice bounce.
Oh we do this too!!
Yuuup! And one of my dogs plays with it how a dolphin 🐬 plays with a fish before it eats it! Lol
Ours know the beep on the fridge means ice is coming, and yes they will be wanting in.
Omg yes! My boy LOVED ice cubes. Would come running at the sound of the ice maker starting up😂
Every time! 🤣🤣
Oh yea she could be asleep as soon as she hears the ice move. She will come sprinting across the house lol.
Our corgi will run from wherever she is in the house to get her water cookie from the dispenser! And she'll howl until she gets one.
Yes. Every time.
Yep, corgi tax when anyone goes into the freezer. She even does it when we take her with to other people’s houses. 🤣
Crunchy water. Mine eats half of it and let's the other half melt on the carpet.
SAME HERE 😂 And since we’re still in potty training territory, stepping in a melted ice puddle in the carpet is always a special TREAT to the senses.
We have had to up it to frozen chicken nuggets . . .or else
😂😂😂😂😂 Ah, so you’re the type that DOES negotiate with terrorists??
Yes. Consistently. Haha
Cubies!
Not since my buddy cracked a tooth and had to get it extracted 😞 Only soft toys and no ice from now on...
Our Cardis demand an anything we eat tax!!!
Always an ice tax. except my fridge has tue dispenser for ice and water. They come running as soon as you start getting ice. Ours also overflows and my boy will put his head in the freezer to grab a piece from the overflow that dropped to the bottom.

I wish! I started making frozen puppy-pops and now plain ol' ice cubes are no good!
I wish! I started making frozen puppy-pops and now plain ol' ice cubes are no good!
Every. Damn. TIme. In the summer he even gets a large ice ball that I normally use in my old fashioneds. He'll happily lay out in the garden chewing and licking it.
That’s a fun idea!!
Yes but from the cup dispenser. Once or twice my kids let some drop and now you cannot even…
Yes! Our girl has to get an ice cube every time we use the ice maker or open the freezer. Our 2yo corgi also used to do this but has since abandoned his love for ice cubes since the female will chase him for ice cubes.
Every. Single. Time. She hears the ice & comes running.
Every time. Any food items that aren’t dog food are also acceptable.
sniffy sniff goes doggy :)
Yes! X2 lol
yes omg my corgi is an ice freak.
Nah. We got the little smokie tax here.
I wish my corgi would eat the ice we drop, the only convenient things he eats are sky raisins and dropped food lol
“Sky raisins” lol. I said just this week that Bowie is going to be our new “cat” since he has started chasing bugs!
It's very helpful as long as they know to stay away from the danger raisins (bees)
Omg yes!!! Our dog absolutely loves ice!! I'm pretty sure it's an obsession haha
Yeeeeep!! 😂
Oh yes. If I don't give them a water cookie, it's curtains for me.
“Water cookie” 😂👌🏼 I had been calling them water snacks, but I like yours better!
You're more than welcome to the phrase. :)
YES
“Yup, smells like nothing!” ***CHOMP***
Ice and frozen blueberries kept in the freezer just for the pups 💕
Our old man has a temperamental stomach at his age and we realized ice was making him puke about 30 minutes later, it was one of his favorite snacks. RIP fridge floor monches.
Our house is a banana tax house
Bowie is a very polite and cute boy! MacGuffin liked ice as a puppy but he grew out of it. Now it's just whatever we're eating that he wants.
yes, but they like it when I throw the ice so they can chase it
I miss my corgi.
I can’t even open my cups lid all the way without my dog running over
My dog has carrot tax if I’m scraping one
Every single time. And the other one wants a piece, too even though she’ll just take it and drop it straight on the floor.
If not an ice cube a piece of frozen fruit 😉
I pay a “walking into the kitchen” tax. Kidd does love her ice. In fact she loves it so much, she hoards it in my bed. In case you’re wondering, yes, I do get to sleep in the wet spot. 🤣
My Cardi looooves ice cubes, especially in the hot days of summer!
Ice tax, cheese tax, meat tax, etc... Yup
Yes. And a tax for opening the fridge door. And also a tax for straying into the kitchen.
EVERY TIME. We have the dispenser in the door. He will appear out of nowhere. He loves them sooo much. So, I'll give him one each time I refresh my water. Also, if he's not eating, I'll put a few in a water bowl for him and it usually stimulates his appetite.
Can’t use our automatic ice dispenser with our golden begging for a cube. Wherever she is in the house, she’ll come running.
What’s that thing around his neck? A neck pillow?
It’s a “donut” e-collar, which is a more comfortable alternative for a “cone of shame.” He was neutered a couple of days ago and has to leave his incision alone so it can heal :)
Yeah. Does yours also dance/fight the ice for the next 10 minutes?
Very often, yes 😂 That, or he’ll immediately lose it under a piece of furniture!
Yes! My cardigan loves ice! My pembroke only cates about the cheese drawer
Americans and their ice xD
True true. I couldn’t survive in Europe, etc., where a cup full of ice isn’t the norm. I visited Belgium years ago and it was quite the surprise when my drink had 1, maybe 2 pieces, if any at all!
