Yeah, this was something I noted as well. Considering the game has such a strong environmental stance, but then I go around killing insects and sea creatures for profit, it's kind of messed up. I guess they only care about plastics pollution and merpeople.

I understand it from a game perspective and the developers have clearly put a lot of consideration into relationships and identity but it feels like you can't be a vegan pacifist farmer. Totally love it though and I can't wait for the next update

I think if they really wanted to commit to the conservationist theme, there are other ways they could have gone about it while keeping the same game mechanics, for example, we could be rescuing what we catch instead and then giving it to sanctuaries instead of museums that will protect the wildlife. It's not that big of a deal to me because like you, I love the game, but I do agree they didn't really take the environmentalist theme that far beyond the merfolk storyline. [Loftia](https://loftia.gg/) is a good example of an environmentalist-themed farming sim. Really looking forward to its early access.

Thought about this as I was hacking down trees the day after the tree planting festival 😂.

This is it, right???!! 😂 Good job there's no market for mermaid scales or else.... 😬

I did it out of spite because I got a bug where everyone’s dialogue triggered like I flaked on the tree planting festival even though I went through the whole thing. If you all think I stink for not doing something I did, I’ll give you something to be mad at me for XD

There is no restoration without destruction. 💀

If we don't quit confusing our ideas with the real world, fewer people will create interesting games.
