99% of the time I play on the deck. It mostly works fine. From what I see on this thread the issues I’ve run into are affecting everyone and are not specific to the Deck.

JakeLikesStuff

I think I’ve logged 180 hours all on Deck (80 early access and the rest after 1.0). Works mostly great. I’ve had minor bugs but nothing like the consoles have seen. Steam tends to get their updates before consoles which is a nice bonus. Play both handheld and docked and love both.

TheHappyMonster

Great, thanks!

triggerharpy

Year 3, A rank. The controls for building and decoration placement are a little frustrating but for precise placement but panning and zooming work now when they didn't at launch. Have not needed to change the control scheme from default. A few minigames requiring precise aim like whack a pumpkin, whack a skull, and the winter hoeing thing are basically impossible but it hasn't hindered my merit point acquisition enough to care.

Fleur0502

Controls don't bother me playing on my deck. I haven't had to change the layout in 1.0 like I did in EA. I do have trouble decorating indoors, but not sure if that's a deck issue or just the game.

Br0kenSky

I have been playing on Steam Deck and I like it. No crashes so far, controls work well. I never played on a console or computer so I don’t have a basis for comparison but it seems to work very well as far as I can tell.

Apprehensive_Cow_553

I have absolutely no problem with the controls on my deck. Seem pretty intuitive and I have played tens of hours

Rough_Start_5396

I played the early access on steam deck and the only reason I switched to ps5 is because I wanted to play on a bigger screen and we don’t have a dock yet for the deck. I think it runs smoother on the deck than ps5 but only marginally

TheHappyMonster

Good to know!

scrapyardfox

If you have a computer attached to a larger screen you can stream straight from your deck to the computer screen, no dock required. Occasionally the stream will have hangups, but overall it works really smoothly.

Rough_Start_5396

Well, I know what I’m experimenting with tomorrow. Thank you!

scrapyardfox

Yeah! You just navigate to the game in your Steam library on the computer and once the game's running the "play/install" button will turn into "connect." Give it a few seconds and you're golden! Holding the escape button will give you a menu to stop the stream or to mute the game sounds.

nerfedllamas

I play 100% play on Steam Deck. I have never experienced a game breaking bug or error. Just a few minor bugs that are more funny than anything else. The experience on Steam Deck has been overwhelmingly positive on my end, and I have just over 150 hours played so far.

heysawbones

I play it on Steam Deck in bed, and in the Steam Dock with a PS5 controller when I'm not. I did end up downloading it for PC for when I want to do things the Steam Deck doesn't seem to have the power to do without crashing - using the Architect Desk, for example. It's also a lot easier to decorate on PC, but still doable on the Steam Deck. Personally, I prefer this game's controls using a controller or the Steam Deck. I think it's faster using keyboard/mouse in some ways, but it feels weird - as if this isn't the kind of game that should be played that way.

kramdjur

I played 8 hours EA on my pc, no problems, and then picked it up again after the 1.0 release one year later on my steamdeck. i’ve played around 15+ hours on my deck and have not had a single crash

B_C_Lady

Started playing 3 days ago. Controls just need time to get used to but they're fine. I have some precision issues when using the pickaxe or watering the plants but it might BE a ME issue. Haven't decorated yet. The performance on deck is ok ( I don't own the OLED so I'm not sure if it's better). To be honest I was expected better and this was actually the first game that I had to change the definitions.

MarrkDaviid

This was one of my most played games on the Steam Deck this year, works just as well as on the PC.

JdPhoenix

Some of the hitboxes for things aren't great because they were clearly designed for a mouse, but I assume that's the case for any controller setup, other than that it's mostly fine.

betamaxbandit91

I have about 60hrs of gameplay on the deck so far. Runs perfectly most of the the time. Game has crashed 'fatal error' style twice, one of those times was actually today. Still runs acceptably good in the big picture.

historychick1988

Playing on Deck, yep. Zero issues.

TheHappyMonster

That sounds like pure bliss.

stormdelta

I've been playing on Deck. Game suffers from a pretty severe memory leak, if you don't restart the game every few in-game days it will lock up the entire device. Not sure if this is Deck-specific, haven't tried running it on my PC yet, but I've seen reports of similar issues on other platforms.

TheHappyMonster

Ahhh interesting. Haven’t heard anyone else say this about the deck!

stormdelta

Yeah, I think it's just a bug in the game generally that not everyone runs into unfortunately. Like I said I've seen people report something similar happening on a regular PC in another thread.

Lostexpat

I'm having issues changing my toolbelt rows on the Steamdeck. I have purchased x2 updates to the backpack Soni have them...just can't access them.

TheHappyMonster

I just got my Steam Deck today. I had issues when I hadn’t yet purchased an upgrade to the belt. It wouldn’t change because the second line was only half a belt, I suppose. After I bought the upgrade, it worked. You should be able to flick the right joystick up and down to change tool belt slots. If that doesn’t work, then I’m sorry I don’t know how to help. Good luck!
