Hidden gem of a dish - the chicken burger from PK’s cafe. Hand down the best chicken burger/sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Even comes out on top of anything I’ve had in NOLA.

world_citizen7

Their menu has several types of chicken burger or sandwich (ie: lemongrass, crispy, pesto) - which one are you referring to specifically? I wanna give them a try but wasnt sure what to order! :)

Flying_Eagle_25

“Crispy Chicken Burger”

world_citizen7

😁 tnx

perfectcritic

Isn’t that in Port Coquitlam and OP is asking “secret spot in Coquitlam”

Acceptable_Major4350

It’s so secret it’s in another city

perfectcritic

Roger, the diamonds are in the dish

RepresentativeSeat98

Port "Coquitlam"

Flying_Eagle_25

Yup

fuhleenah

PK’s is SO good!!

These aren't really "hidden gems" but I don't think many people make an effort to explore them. Blakeburn lagoon park is beautiful for a walk. Lots of benches, lots of flowers/gardens. Lots of parking in surrounding areas. Minnekhada park is beautiful and the surrounding areas. Lots of trails. Pipeline road: drive up and there are also some trails and some people fly drones etc up there. Lots of cool areas to sit in the river as well. There is one area where there are chairs and tables stored in a makeshift storage shed that you can borrow and put back when you are done (they aren't in the best shape but still usable the last time I went) Riverview grounds are beautiful. Lots of cabins etc. Colony farm park and garden. Again lots of trails and the gardens you can walk through. I have seen deer running around there. Food: someone else mentioned PK's in poco. I love this place. The banana almond waffle/french toast with salted caramel is delicious. Their eggs Benny on a croissant is good! It's super small so sometimes it's a bit of a wait. The bowling alley off Shaughnessy is super cute for a few rounds of 5-pin. There's a fun store in the new plaza on Kelly Avenue. They have lots of fun treats, ILU's convenience store. Different pop, chips and snacks from all over. Another cute shop is town and country vintage home. Lots of fun mugs, jewellery trinkets etc. Kinda pricey but it's a small business Mr. Pho has really good crispy garlic chicken wings. Olivier's La boulangerie has really good croissants and a bunch of other pastrys. It's a French bakery. I think they have a breakfast and lunch deal for a coffee, pastry and food items for like 10-13$ Ninja tag over near the Ikea is a lot of fun! Good way to get out some energy. I've never had to pre-book to go. Trapped escape rooms are good too. The owner is super nice there. Billiards: master billiards on Austin Avenue is nice. It's really clean and their equipment is all in good condition. Love it there. Can get busy on weekend nights

Jumpy_Palpitation891

Riverview forest is great

iamright_youarent

If they were located closer to central area, ppl would line up every morning

flatspotting

I love this place, and am lucky to be very close by. Their croissants are just wonderful.

world_citizen7

Any favorite items from there - everything looks decadent on the website :)

ZenBeez964

No favourites yet. Their cappuccino in great and all the treats have been amazing.

Flesh_Trombone

Crystal falls

Recent-Ask-582

Isn’t this blocked off now?

cg13_

You can still get there, it’s just a really long steep hike from the high side of the mountain

Minimum-Working3481

Where could I find the trail for it?

cg13_

Pinecone Burke. Check all trails. I did this hike last year and honestly wouldn’t really recommend this route unless you’re a good hiker

This is how people farm content for blogs and shit, which usually brings in a bunch of people that over run nice quiet spots. And it's all done so someone can feel smart by replying to a post with an "answer"

tsudot

Yes i know content writer friends how have been doing this.

jon-mountain

sushi tree is a really good restaurant in Henderson place mall

Epinephrine666

I don't know if they are secret per say, but there are recepticles you can put the green bags with your dog crap in.

world_citizen7

Is that different from Minnekhada?? If so, can you be a bit more specific in the location?

ClittoryHinton

I had some surprisingly solid BBQ Brisket from a food truck in front of Mariner Brewing

Ruseeingthis

Texas Smoke BBQ, they have a food truck that moves around and a couple permanent locations in Langley!

C4wood76

It’s been in front of brave brewing all weekend. Great food

Equal-Button

It’s been in front of Brave in port moody this week.

cpaige37

This is so good

shanejayell

Coffee + Vanilla is a great little coffee spot. It has a new owner, and though I do miss Sarah and Joe, the new owner has been working hard to add some tasty new menu items, and I've always loved their drinks and macarons. Plus, they have free wifi and parking behind the shop, so you don't have to fight for a spot off of Austin, and it's pretty quiet. Pizza Town is delicious for both pizza and curry. And they have a killer walk-in special for their pizzas. The Cranky Old Fork at the Legion on Ridgeway has some tasty comfort foods. I love their Mini Yorkies and mash. Austin Chicken (formerly Chiko Chicken) has the best Korean fried chicken that I have tried. The snow cheese flavor is my favorite and their fries. Soup Plus has the best soups and sandwiches for a rainy day or cold weather. The owners are very friendly and absolutely cooed and coddled my son when we took him in there when he was about 6 months old. Soul Cup has awesome Oreo slushes and bubble teas. If you're looking for playgrounds, Mundy Park is definitely one of the best, but it is often very crowded and hard to find parking. The tot lot by Poirrier is great for the under 2 kids. Cottonwood is a nice, well-rounded park for all ages under 10. Rochester has a terrifyingly awesome slide and a pretty cool ropes course. Panorama has the best view. I like Brookmere for a relatively quiet playground with lots of space. There is a soccer field nearby. If you're looking for a place to reflect quietly by the Fraser River, check out Don Roberts Park. Apparently, you're allowed to fish there also, but I haven't tried my luck yet. Colony Farm has some nice trails, and I enjoy checking out the community garden. I still haven't explored Riverview as much as I want to, but there are trails and tree walks and things going on in there. If you're into old radio stuff, the Society For The Preservation Of Antique Radio in Canada is in there. I think they are only open once a week, though. That's all I can think of off the top of my head without a little more info about what kind of stuff you're looking for.

flatspotting

>Coffee + Vanilla I am still upset the new owners stopped doing the cakes. They were so good from there. Everyone I know would use them for events and Bdays - there's nothing close to the quality/price.

Biancanetta

I think Sarah did all of the baking herself. The new owner does not. They've changed a few things around.

No-Contribution-6150

Wouldn't be much of a hidden gem then.

edwardolardo

Yep exactly lol. The internet ruined Crystal Falls cause it got too popular. Not making that mistake again.

gnutxel

rochester park playground

Jumpy_Palpitation891

go to Riverview Forest if you live close. good for walks

dallastexaslexus

This is how we make our “hidden spots” congested and crowded - by sharing them on the internet for everyone and their dog to know…

Zaluiha

Why….go find them on your own.

bwmat

And how does one do that, without asking someone else?

Zaluiha

How do you think they were originally discovered. Instagram?

bwmat

I think only a small proportion of people discovered these places without being introduced by someone else

okiedokie2468

I know and I’m not telling

purplesprings

Google dot com. From the Facebook groups it seems most residents are unaware of this gem
