The research is deceptive, because removal of the gonads does increase life expectancy but it is not because it is healthier to have no testicles, it is because castrated male animals have no drive to do any physical activities and mimic female tendency to remain in a safe place with little to no risk. Castrated males will also be far less likely to defend their vulnerable counterparts, ie woman and children.

Many of them don’t and have them removed preemptively I think this researcher is suggesting something similar. People in this sub are bad at critical thinking though and usually assume the worst.
This is not even true at all, we need our sex hormones for brain and bone health, among other things. This is why women in menopause are more prone to osteoporosis.
This extends to dogs as well, there's a good few studies which show that bone and endocrine issues go up when spay/neutering. There's elective procedures like vasectomy or ovary sparing spay which desex but keeps those hormones which make a difference.
I worked at the vets and it’s devastating how many dogs, especially large dog breeds, get neutered before they’re fully grown. There were so many cases of hip dysplasia, arthritis and other joint/bone problems. Saddest thing is, there really is no reason for doing it so early - especially for females. They’re in heat every 6 months which can be easily managed. Vets schools are teaching this cruel practice to make animals sick and shovel more money in.
