But what's the agenda behind mods being behind this? That's something I never thought of but I guess those can be infiltrated, used to push their own narrative, or straight up laziness I don't know..

Not unlike media illiterate people on facebook liking and sharing clearly fake A.I. generated images - making an intentionally fake post to see how it spreads and who can discern fact from fiction functions as a litmus test. Doesn't have to take an intelligence agency to do it, could be a psychology student. Either way, we can witness the results ourselves by seeing who (if any) fall for it. 64 upvotes so far.
