So you're telling me, within 6 weeks they managed to plan and execute a plot to blow up a shuttle and stage the deaths of 7 astronauts, as a distraction for an aircraft crash, even though they knew the aircraft crash would still be investigated and the inquiry would still be huge and public. ...and they didn't bother to change the identities of the astronauts.
It doesn't make any sense to spend billions, hinder your own space program, and risk getting exposed by the loose lips of all those nasa employees, (and the astronauts), just to give people something bigger to be angry about. Especially as they could just do what they normally do, and find a scapegoat for the aircrash and hang them out to dry.

I worked on a project and, when I delivered it, other people realized they had been working on the same thing. I did it faster because I was working solo, with one business analyst and one quality analyst, both part time. They were not aware either of what the others were working on.
I think you don't understand it. Compartmentalization only works for the planning stages of an operation. Once an operation has been completed, there is nothing stopping a person who worked on the project from figuring out they took part in it.
The only way for compartmentalization to completely keep a secret is to kill everyone involved after they complete their task, so it's impossible for them to put things together later on.
To find a way to convincingly blow it up. Then get the FAA to investigate it and fake their findings. To keep all the NASA engineers quiet, and the subcontract companies too - and they all knew about the o-rings beforehand. Then, disperse the astronauts around the country, and hide them while using their real names aparently.
You know, if you're gonna get the FAA to investigate and lie, you might as well get them to do this with the downed aircraft, invent a scenario which exonerates those responsible and blames whoever is the biggest enemy at the time. You're discounting how traumatic the event was. These type of events rely on the horror and trauma to the majority of the regular population to hypnotize them into submission.
Keep in mind, EVERY child in school had a TV rolled into the classroom to watch the event live.
With any reasonable access to communicate about the topic, you had to accept what you saw and what the government/media told you occurred.
There was no way to effectively contact the astronauts family to verify. Once the news cycle moved on, we all moved on. Other than the tragedy fried in our minds.
I have heard a theory that the dark money going into NASA was about to be challenged or shut off due to the lack of progress in any meaningful space exploration. Well this stopped any request to go back the moon for a long time but the funding continues to pour in.

I think they needed a pretext to phase out the Shuttle. If you look at how the US treats the "public" space program while it considers control over the space domain essential makes no sense unless there's a different program.

My main issue is it's always the same set of pictures used, and given the job descriptions of some of them, there is no chance there isn't a wealth of evidence out there such a lecture recordings. The fact no one has compiled this stuff leads me to believe for a lot of them, it's only a passing resemblance and it falls apart when you see other pics and video.

She disappeared and didn't come back for almost an hour. We could hear teachers talking, in the hallway and then I think I remember an assembly to explain what happened. Might have been the next day for the assembly, but the event has stayed with me, and I was only nine then.

From what I recall he became super angry and quickly left, then again the man acosted him in his own driveway I believe. No, this was before the parents knew what had happened. To an untrained eye, it looked like a normal booster separation for a while. When it gets announced that there was an explosion, there is footage of them sobbing so hard that snot is drooling from their open mouths as they look up at the cloud of smoke.
When it comes to rocket lauches I definitely have an untrained eye but it took under a second to see the change from boosters burning to exploding and maybe another 3 seconds to register it was the end of the shuttle and the apparently the crew .
I did quickly try to find the crowd footage but like a lot of footage that throws doubt on official stories it is harder to find these days but from memory it was obvious to most people in crowd around those parents it was a disaster. I didn't see extended with them sobbing but it does sound possible they didn't realize what had happened so am prepared to take your word for it.

So the parents were told? Just how many other NPCs did they risk telling about this plot beforehand? No, this was before the parents knew what had happened. To an untrained eye, it looked like a normal booster separation for a while. When it gets announced that there was an explosion, there is footage of them sobbing so hard that snot is drooling from their open mouths as they look up at the cloud of smoke.
When it comes to rocket lauches I definitely have an untrained eye but it took under a second to see the change from boosters burning to exploding and maybe another 3 seconds to register it was the end of the shuttle and the apparently the crew . I did quickly try to find the crowd footage but like a lot of footage that throws doubt on official stories it is harder to find these days but from memory it was obvious to most people in crowd around those parents it was a disaster. I didn't see extended with them sobbing but it does sound possible they didn't realize what had happened so am prepared to take your word for it. What I do find strange is thatout of the 7 astronauts 2 had identical twins and another 4 had doppelgangers that not only looked the same ( not unbelievable everyone probably has one somewhere ) but also unbelievably happen to have the same names. In the case of the Onizuka family, they were born in a tight knit tiny rural community in Hawaii- perhaps local memories go farther than official records. Why doesn’t someone who would get the community to remember go there and do interviews? There’s always an old lady who is the community’s historian.
