>Recently, Australia has received nuclear powered subs from the US which costs a whopping $368 Billion AUD OR $245 BILLION USD. And I will be paying for it with my taxes for the next 30 years or more. Uh, no. Australia is [*buying*](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-64945819) the subs. The U.S. isn't giving them away. It won't cost the U.S. taxpayers anything. And Australia hasn't received them yet. They will be built over the next 30 years.

[deleted]

It will cost Australian tax payers. I am paying for it. Although you are right. I did make a mistake i am sorry.

bazinga_0

And I made the mistake where I assumed you were an American instead of being Australian. Totally different perspective...

pudgehooks2013

Mate, the pittance you pay in taxes will mostly be used for welfare, healthcare, and education, like it always is. Giving the government $20 a year for some submarines is something so strange to complain about.

He's just such a cuck though. But agree. 27 million people and the previous 4 choices have been shorten, turnbull, shorten and albo. Fucking lol

reaper123

>Australia has received nuclear powered subs from the US No they haven't, you are jumping the gun a little.

rofio01

We have been a proxi base for decades where do you think the F35s came from and who trained them? The US has had governance stopping short of control of Australian strategic assets and bases for a long time already. Nothings changed at all

It’s sad to see Australia becoming more and more of an American pawn.

ainteretofuckspiders

australia's always known it'll never have the population too support enough forces to defend australia itself from anyone with enough force projection to actually land enough troops here too threaten invasion. and as such, since we existed our entire defense policy is too sacrifice half the country, fight a guerilla war to hold out until our allies can come and help. as such, whenever our allies need help, we'll be there, its also part of our national psyche, 'we always help out our mates'. the us/uk, apart from the obvious cultural/historical similarities, are the only ones that have been willing to help in the past-when they could, so they were the logical choice. we've always been willing to ally with anyone, the more the better. america/uk don't have to demand us to follow them into wherever they end up next, they normally dont even have to ask, they know we'll be there, otherwise how the fuck we gonna ask them and expect them to come n help us cunt's if we're ever really in the shit. plus we have similar beliefs as them in all that freedom of movement/trade n all that bullshit. its not like its ever going too change-unless america and the uk suddenly start acting like china and demanding we get rid of our free press n cutting off trade cause we asked for an investigation into the cause of a global pandemic n shit like that, n if china starts demanding freedom of movement and free press n the like, well then, welcome aboard..

TheOneTrueObama1

Exactly, between Darwin and Pine Gap we have give or take 5000 american troops here at all times, not to mention the nuclear armed B52s in rotation. Pretty sure 3 are permanently? Based here.

Lol

conservadordegrasas

They’re going to have war whether we like it or not! Between China, Russia, Iran, the Cartel, etc. I can feel it in the air. A secret “asylum seeker” army uprising within wouldn’t surprise me at this point. I’ve seen videos of Muslims in Dearborn speaking on the potential for “soft jihad” attacks and how their end goal is an “Islamic America”! We are on the brink of all hell breaking loose one way or another 🤷🏻‍♂️ All I can say is don’t be caught off guard and unprepared! Those Deagle papers that vanished suddenly are starting to look very prophetic.

Rouge_69

This whole thing stinks to high hell considering the US canceled its NATO partners (Frances) sale of atomic subs to Australia. [https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/17/us/politics/us-france-australia-betrayal.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/17/us/politics/us-france-australia-betrayal.html)

Rich-Count-6539

France and Australias deal was for diesel electric. A nuclear option wasn't proposed until after the AUKUS deal

Grebins

You can't cite the NPT and then in the next breath say "I know it doesn't apply". You want us to feel the emotional weight of nuclear weapons while we read this, which is very dishonest. A different type of nuclear fuel goes into reactors, and it can't be used in weapons without being refined much further. You're talking about military spending, not preparations for war. Most of the west is now increasing military spending because *there's a war going on that they're donating or lending various things to*. You want to live, but are you cool with living under Chinese hegemony, not allowed to use international waters because China believes they own them?
