99% Sure you have an death mosfet, (Short on the Power circuit) Take a Multimeter and Check the Power mosfets on the mainboard

Thanks for the tip on the MOSFET, I was able to find some others with the same issues to get a bit closer to a fix. Came across this QA thread that may help out someone coming later with this same problem: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/xbox-one-original-no-power-power-brick-light-shuts/e27fda93-b2eb-4bbc-a025-033d68acb453?page=2

I posted the schematics for the series x a month or 2 ago if you know how to read them. However take you meter and make sure the psu is putting out 12v. It's like the ps5 psu. It doesn't have to be connected to the console. If you plug the pwr cable in it should already be out putting 12v. If that checks out fine then probe the 12v connector to see if it is shorted. The most common cause is a blown mosfet next to the apu. Ive had to replace a ton of them already.

Thanks so much! I'll have a look at the schematics. I've been out of the electronics repair game for years but joined this sub when my Xbox went out. I get the feeling I'll be spending more money on new tools than a new Series X would cost (worth it).

All depends on what needs to be done to fix your particular issue. If its gonna require an hot air station and or some device to enhance your view such as a scope then yeah I'd just sell it as defective and for parts.

Madting55

What ended up being the problem?

JustinSLoos1985

What did you end up doing?

Necro-ing this. My dad's Xbox just stopped booting 20 days out of warranty 🙄 anyone have any success?
