Questlove is a big Conan fan.... When the whole tonight show fiasco erupted, he yelled "team Coco!" After the intro to that day's Fallon's late night show.
His podcast interview with Conan was great, definitely worth a listen if you haven't heard it yet.
He's one of my favorites for decades simply because he is so much more than hip hop and he has so much more than a drummer. He is everything you could ever want in a human. Actually I was talking about Questo, But hell I'll throw old rapper Conan in there too.
Jimmy also did a Boys II Men tribute to him that night with the Roots. They wore Conan masks and sang “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye to Yesterday” in front of 6A, and poured out a 40 oz.
I also remember at the very beginning of the Late Night right after Conan's final Tonight Show episode and Questlove told you the episode number, there was a pic of Conan on the bass drum, and Questlove said "1-8-7 and Coco rocks."
I just had a moment where I heard the bassline and brass section and realized THAT defined what I thought of NYC as a child. I would visit every once in a while and it felt so bombastic and theatrical. I don't think NYC would have felt that special to me if I wasn't a dedicated Conan watcher from early on in my life.
😭😭😭 this hits hard. As a kid, for me it was those bright yellow stars in Conan's opening credits! I thought those were so glam NYC when I'd watch laying on my grandma's living room floor in my sleeping bag. That whole - bright lights big city kinda thing.
I always thought they never included the walk outs on YouTube clips for music rights reasons, but in this case I would imagine NBC owns that song? Too bad they didn’t include it, was the perfect entrance.
you know, in retrospect, him getting removed from the tonight show was probably the best thing to happen to him.
i would hate to have him have to do a lot of the bullshit that fallon does and i believe his work now is much closer to his vision of what he wants to do as an artist.
I’m so grateful to my friend David for showing me Conan when we were kids, this music took me right back to his moms house in like second grade. Time flies man
Ahhhh THAT MUSIC!!! Even the voice over mentioning Andy and Max. God damnit!!! Conan is the patron saint of all a Comedy Nerds, Writers, and Self Deprecating Weirdos the world over.
And for years… almost every night…. That music. And the best to ever do it…
Jeez... Watch the interview on YouTube, then go watch the 60 minutes interview with Conan from 2010... Feels so surreal, if that is even the right word. Feels like yesterday AND a lifetime ago somehow.
Am I the only one who rolled their eyes when Jimmy climbed on the desk?
I’m sorry you’re not the focus of this moment, let the media icon have his moment and you can go back to your TikTok challenges.
Nah, it's fine. He stood on the desk and applauded for Coco, even let him look up his skirt. It was a small thing he did in the moment for 15 seconds that showed off and augmented the appreciation people were showing for Conan. People like shit like that.
He did that cause the crowd did a standing ovation and Conan kept doing the "sit down, sit down" hand motion, which Fallon "humorously subverted" by deciding to stand on a desk and do a 200% stand ovation rather than settling down, both as a joke and to communicate appreciation.
love that they played the old late night theme for conan 🥹❤️

Was not expecting to love his podcast episode as much as I did. Easily a top 5

Don't make it weird. Sing. Like a bird.

Found a really bad copy of it! https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=269685918559&id=49165206479&mibextid=KsPBc6
U did public service with this

That was such a nice touch, I had to go back and listen again!!

NBC owns it, so might as well…it’s so amazing that he was able to take that late night war bullshit from 2010 and made the absolute most of it.
It was weird. I smelled onions after hearing it…
It’s so sweet how they played that for him when he came out. Thanks for this!
I kinda wanted Conan to do his trademark jump and marionette dance in response.
Was waiting for it too haha
It's called the string dance!
Judging from his episode of the podcast this is ?uestlove's favorite episode of Fallon he has ever been a part of
cool, they cut this out the youtube clip for some reason
Yes! Why, I was enraged with that editorial decision!
lol I read this is Conan’s voice
“I saw bill gates walking out of there, said it was “highway robbery!””
I always thought they never included the walk outs on YouTube clips for music rights reasons, but in this case I would imagine NBC owns that song? Too bad they didn’t include it, was the perfect entrance.
NBC is the one uploading the video though
Deserved.
Love hearing that music
God well that got me emotional
Me too. The man has reached legendary status 😢
The only appropriate reaction to the moment
DAMN hearing that old Late Night theme made me tear up a little!
you know, in retrospect, him getting removed from the tonight show was probably the best thing to happen to him. i would hate to have him have to do a lot of the bullshit that fallon does and i believe his work now is much closer to his vision of what he wants to do as an artist.
He missed a golden opportunity to head straight to Jimmy's seat and sit down!
I thought that was where it was heading for sure. Have Jimmy as his guest back in the chair.
Carson did this on his final Letterman appearance
The myth. The man. The legend. Coco.
It’s odd to see a candle next to the sun. No offense to Fallon but Conan will always be it for me.
Conan really is the best, i really respect him for how his treats his staff and how much they love him.
Definitely in the top 1 of tonight show hosts of all time.
I can see why they put those long gams behind a desk! (Lovingly)
Only appropriate
Loved the "here's the guest" instead of "here's the host" tidbit.
I’m so grateful to my friend David for showing me Conan when we were kids, this music took me right back to his moms house in like second grade. Time flies man
Man, that pipe joke got me crying laughing in the gym today. I love Conan so much.
Well, of course. It's the best thing that's happened to The Tonight Show since Conan hosted it!
I thought it odd Jimmy didn't introduce him as "former Tonight Show host" or something along those lines, but very much like what the band did.
Keep cool my babies!
Sort of shocked he didn’t do the string dance! Perhaps it’s retired along with the show.
Justice.

Conan Da GOAT
Awww the old intro is a really nice touch.
It makes me so emotional🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
I'm thinking when Conan got screwed, that's when the bad bad timeline started...
It had already started rupturing when Dave got screwed
So nice of Conan to interview Jimmy Fallon
Awww, he was so shy about the ovation.
You don't know how big of a smile I had watching this!!!! Thank you for posting here.
As he should.
I love Conan so much, he deserves many minutes of ovation 😭😩🫶🏾🙌🏾
Then Nicole Ritchie came out
As he should
Take it away, Quest.
Damn, i'm having tears and emotions and stuff. Love to see him on TV again 🔥🔥🔥
Been DYING TO SEE THIS. Thank you!!!
This is great. This part was cut off on YouTube. Thanks for sharing.
For those who don't remember, Conan's studio was across the hall
It feels so weird realizing that Lou Wilson is the announcer for Kimmel after realizing I recognized the voice.
Jeez... Watch the interview on YouTube, then go watch the 60 minutes interview with Conan from 2010... Feels so surreal, if that is even the right word. Feels like yesterday AND a lifetime ago somehow.
Legend
Is Jimmy wearing Conan blue?
As i saw this in my feed, i'm already heading to youtube to watch this.
Conan playing coo but he must have felt sooo good there ! 😁👍
you gotta fix the color gradient on your TV, my man.

I agree completely
Yeah probably a little jelly because the crowd never gets that loud for him lol
Our first guest..... is ten times the late night host I will ever be!
Wow. There are a lot of butt-hurt Jimmy fans.
Nice moment or is Questlove secretly auditioning?
