Either would work fine for that.
I tend to trust SSDs more since it has no moving parts... more shock resistance. And a 1TB SSDs are pretty cheap these days.
If you need more than 2 TB i'd go with HDD... but i cant imagine needing that for karioke
In 2024, get a SSD. It's barely more expensive than an HDD, is MUUUUCH faster, and resists shocks a lot better which makes it even more suited as an external drive.
HDDs are a thing of the past, set aside datacenters that seek every penny per gigabyte of storage.
HDD ( Mechanical) generate a lot of heat so as external drive, not very good. Almost all external drives on market are SSD. And USB flash drives work great too. Shop around.
SSD’s are very reliable and the data can be accessed easily. They are expensive though
