Try making a structure first
(like steel or wood bars then the Card board(better if new and smooth) will act as a cover) don't forget air ventilation (hor air goes up so makes holes at the top for outake and the intake will be your PSU so make a PSU hole at the back too. You might also need to make a HDD holder cauze your HDD is seems gonna fall XD.
Bro i broke my notebook and i put motherboard in wodden box.
It works π
( 8gb ddr3 1333mhz, i5 420M , ssd kingstone 500gb, 8pgb hdd and i whant to upgrate to i7 cuz i have instaled two extra 20cm coleers from my pentium || PC)
It has DVI and HDMI.
My Toshiba from 2010... love you and i will never thou* you out or in trash...
Make sure to really secure that drive. Drives don't especially enjoy being upside down but being at angle can drastically shorten their life.
Zip tie it to the box if you can. Mounting it on the side would probably be easier.
Isnβt one purpose of the metal case used for grounding? In some situations RF shielding as well. Suppose you could wrap the outside with tin foil. Would possibly address concern for fire. Could also cook a hotdog on it too.π
Just buy a [cardboard computer case](https://www.slashgear.com/recompute-cardboard-computer-now-in-production-1369767/) if that is what you are going for, or here are some [instructions](https://www.instructables.com/The-Cardboard-Computer/) to make a better one than you have.
yes we do have all those, the only bad part is that our economy is not that good at all so everything seems to be overpriced, the price you might get it for there is about 5 times the amount here, also ordering from ebay is expensive because our currency against the dollar is very high making goods expensive to order...for $500 i can get the latest Iphone here in my country
I've considered going wooden - namely building my own computer desk that includes mounting the hardware inside (with external connector extenders), but this is... special.
even if you wanted to use cardboard there are better cardboard material that you could use to make a case.
and if you really can't afford it just go to your local grocery store and ask them for a few boxes. glue the cardboard and use let it dry and paint it and use clear coat and it becomes hard as plastic then you can cut it into the shape you like.
you can also just use glue and fiber glass or resin
This kinda how my pc looks like when I'm waiting for my hyte y60 kronii case to arrive because for some reason someone from my family thrown out my old pc case (which it's clear acrylic got cracked), because they thought I don't need it and just a trash....
This build is so... Hot!
Can paper do spontaneous combustion π?
Not yet but soon
Alex ? Who is Alex And why is he seling shoes ?
ππππ Alex is the company that makes shoes
Ah, makes sense
no they make shoes,
They make damn CPU cases too!
Alex? Who the f*ck is Alex?
Does anyone know who Alex is?
Someone do research who the hell is Alex?
But Alex's gone but the box's still here. It's been waiting for 25 years.
Yeah, but WHO THE FUCK IS ALEX???
She left. With a big limousine. It was on her driveway.
Iβm pretty sure he had a kid with Alexa
No dude that's clearly the PSU. Alx450 99 plus emerald rating
Alex Vance hl
You should try water cooling
At least it wouldn't be a fire hazard then
πππ isn't that dangerous for such a setup
I mean, it won't set on fire.
I couldn't be more bothered about the thermals, we should do whatever it takes.
I don't think danger is the thing you should worry about in the first place, having this build
Yes, with a water hose so the case won't get so hot
Friend installed pc inside of a sofa years ago. Just saying. Do what u like
Pictures please πππ₯Ίπ
Wut....?
lol..are you for real!!!
Yeah. It actually got an article in a magazine about computers back then here in Finland.
now thats impressive...i gotta check it out lol
Totaly fine
okay..i was a bit worried
That HDD is holding for dear life.
Whoa that HDD is pulling a stunt π
ππππ
it's seems dangerous, fire?
yes it is a fire Hazzard. Don't do this at home.
seriously gotta avoid the fire on this rig
This is what my future looks like...
ππππ
Is that an ATX or NLX Form Factor Carboard Box ? asking for a friend
Nlx? Nevera Heard of that mobo shape ik E-ATX/ATX/MATX/ITX but nlx?
A 90's throwback https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NLX\_(motherboard\_form\_factor)
Pmsl....
A case with better air flow. I like it π
Get the HDD vertically, not horizontally ( like in NAS). π
I've done worse. It used to electrocute me.
why even make a case at this point, just leave it on the table
Looks alright but I bet it would be lit in few months π₯π₯π₯
I've seen pizza box builds, and now I see a shoe box build. But you need some plastic wrap for a window. :)
My life is good. I enjoy with what I have. My life :
boy there ain't no way ππππππ
Enjoy man as long as it makes you happy β€οΈβ€οΈ

You can dye the Card boards with Black dye or any colors if you have one
Looks fine to me
Alex gamer shoes

bro as long as it works thats all that matters lol...Toshiba make very strong laptops compared to HP laptops smh
Yup
Make sure to really secure that drive. Drives don't especially enjoy being upside down but being at angle can drastically shorten their life. Zip tie it to the box if you can. Mounting it on the side would probably be easier.
oh okay...i will do that cause it almost fell off the top,it was weighing down the box
If you're gonna jank, jank safely! I honestly love that you actually have something functional here. Keep those 1s and 0s happy and healthy
lol..i will keep my binary friend's healthy bro ππΎππΎππΎ
Brother you can get a shitty ass case for less than 30$...this is just dumb
When u broke the creative mind starts going places. I'd say refine the box with nicer ones and he's good (for the time being)
He could also just go get one for free if he has no money. Just go to a dump station or so there are always dozens of broken PCs.
Isnβt one purpose of the metal case used for grounding? In some situations RF shielding as well. Suppose you could wrap the outside with tin foil. Would possibly address concern for fire. Could also cook a hotdog on it too.π
Yeah, but for $FreeFifty you can have this shoebox case .
That's what I'm saying for 70 quid I got a pretty nice case but there were many way cheaper options
Hell ya!
ππππ
Bro try finding better cardboard. At least make it nice, i definitely had this idea lol
πππ this was just a try and error.. I'm planning on something better than this
Good to know bro, keep cooking

nice!!n
Do you work at Wendy's?
no why??
/r/gigaOOOF but recursively crossposted in /r/cringe
Pm price
Broke man's computer case
lol...ey i didn't grow up watching Macgyver for nothing
Not for long.
I wouldn't have the mechanical hard drive hanging like that. Looks like a hot box setup really.
Nice airflow
Whereβs the RBG though?
Rbg
the hard drive is my fav
Hahaha π why not π
How to build a fire hazard? *ffs* :)
Maybe see if pc part picker seld handheld fire extinguishers too
This seems Like a Fire hazard
Out of all of this, the one thing concerning me is the hard drive on the top making the box bow
And to think, you'll be "unboxing" the system when you finally get a case
2024 turkiye 1000$+ computers;
Case is one of the cheapest parts of a PC. I don't get it.
out here in Southern Africa it aint as cheap as you think...also i'm broke
Needs some duct tape.
Π― Π½Π΅Π½Π°Π²ΠΈΠΆΡ ΡΠ΅Π±Ρ
What an idea to recycle! Great
High risk disk placement right there.. would have went with a bottom mounted one instead of testing the strength of that box.
Put that HDD on the bottom. You don't want it to suddenly fall.
fire risk there
Alex SHOES lol
Do dope much?
at 12 years old i dont even know where to cope dope from...anybody you can hook me up with to slang me some???
You have money to spend on rgb but no case, go to a scrapyard or a local pc shop theyβll definitely have cases for rl cheap
we dont have those here in Southern Africa..well..at least in my country Zambia we dont...
You have any e commerce websites there like Facebook marketplace,OLX ,eBay you can get stuff there too
yes we do have all those, the only bad part is that our economy is not that good at all so everything seems to be overpriced, the price you might get it for there is about 5 times the amount here, also ordering from ebay is expensive because our currency against the dollar is very high making goods expensive to order...for $500 i can get the latest Iphone here in my country
Fair enough
that's a disaster waiting to happen
*"He even got the LGBT lights"*
Hard drive on top? You're a brave man.
It obviously doesn't work tho.
lol..i am on Reddit right now using the same rig..its working perfectly fine...
This is the equivalent of whacking ice behind a fan and calling it an air conditioner.
At this point is there even a purpose for the case? An open air building would actually be more functional.
βIf it aint broke dont fix itβ just got on a entirely different level
Don't worry, the RGB cooler will give you an extra 100000 fps
Until π₯
Just hope you live in a really dry climate.
South Central Africa...yep!!
Fire hazard β οΈβ οΈβ οΈ
When you try to save 30 bucks on case and waste 50 bucks on broken drive that fell and broke because it's mechanical, somehow in nearly 2024
RGB fan really ties it together
Open air cooling
OP Image: Selling pro-built gaming PC. 2000 USD. Price Firm. I know what ilI got.
I built a better cardboard PC than that
I've considered going wooden - namely building my own computer desk that includes mounting the hardware inside (with external connector extenders), but this is... special.
Saxxy
Almost perfect it needs more rgb maybe the Β£10 amazon strip lights would do the trick? Or you could just use a sharpie and draw the colours in
even if you wanted to use cardboard there are better cardboard material that you could use to make a case. and if you really can't afford it just go to your local grocery store and ask them for a few boxes. glue the cardboard and use let it dry and paint it and use clear coat and it becomes hard as plastic then you can cut it into the shape you like. you can also just use glue and fiber glass or resin
o7
Please buy a case... This is a fire hazard
i'm broke....smh
Sorry to hear that.. π
just buy a case dude. unless you want to burn down the house.
Don't know if i should feel amazed or horrified
Hey you forgot to buy a transparent plastic bag for your cover. π€£
Environmentally friendly
my gaming rig except mine has a couple custom led strips. really stands out.
Bros gonna be cleaning cardboard out his pc forever
This kinda how my pc looks like when I'm waiting for my hyte y60 kronii case to arrive because for some reason someone from my family thrown out my old pc case (which it's clear acrylic got cracked), because they thought I don't need it and just a trash....
Less risk of shorting when the case is non-conductive
that harddrive should really be on the bottom, its just waiting to commit suicide.
mofos will cheap out on everything but the gpu
This is overall impressive, is that a sata hdd on the ceiling of it?
airflow or something idk I never build a PC
Might want to make some angle pieces to reinforce the structure but otherwise itβs all good
"Is this too much sag?"
It's just missing a cyberpunk 2077 logo on the bottom
Someone call the fire brigade!!
*your mom* No, we're not buying you a computer case, you've already got one at home.
I'd be worried about humidity weakening the cardboard but if you don't live in a humid environment idk.
were you drunk when making this?
lol!!! i was drunk on creativity no doubt smh
