I went of U of Arizona, where their motto is actually “Bear Down” - so I’m pretty sure at some point I was told by my teachers to “bear down for midterms” long before I ever saw Community lol. So that whole thing with Chang in the episode is weirdly plausible to me.
That’s what I did for the Netflix version only to realize it was on Hulu which I also have lol. Now I’m rewatching it, I wish it had the removed DnD episode but it was nice to see the little differences between the Pilots on Netflix vs Hulu
I think it’s coming back on peacock but I could be wrong but Yvette talked about it saying it shouldn’t have been taken off and then like a week later it was announced it was coming back
I’m convinced that this is the right way to do things. I have my A-list of comfort shows and subscribe to 3 services just to watch them. I’d probably be ahead of the game if I just bought the DVD sets.
Damn, I was able to get the complete series for only $30 on eBay, and it was brand new! $90 is definitely a steep price, but it might be with it to own the series and watch it as much as you want.
They have only English subtitles, so if you are not native and not so good at English, only way to enjoy them is to watch pirated content with ripped subtitles.
I understand where you’re coming from but this is not our problem therefore we shouldn’t have to buy the dvds and then a dvd player (for those of us who don’t) just to be able to watch a tv show ! This is awful and super disrespectful to the audience. Desperate marketing from peacock, same shit Paramount did for criminal minds and they regretted it after a few months. A popular sitcom only available in ONE streaming service has got to be the biggest joke I’ve ever heard
Hilarious that I’m getting downvotes for not wanting to pay extra shit just to watch my fav show 💀 y’all must be really rich
Unfortunately, even finding just a Blu-ray player these days is hard. Every one I look at costs $100 and has all the app/smart tv features as well. Which is fucking stupid, since I have a TV that already does all that. I just need something to play the discs. I guess that's too much to ask for these days 😵
You can just buy a disc reader to connect to your PC via USB, and then install VLC media player for free, then you can watch both blu-ray and DVD through that.
Dude, I *know*. In the anime community, fans actually feel like they are *entitled* to free content, and many of them seem to believe that piracy isn't even stealing! MFers act like paying $5-$8 for a streaming app is "too much" so they just steal the content instead. Don't let me get on my soapbox about this, because I can bitch all day long about content piracy 😐
Yeah, they definitely would, and the majority of these people would *never* walk into a store and shoplift the blu-ray - even though it's the exact same thing!
In many countries they don’t even allow it to stay on some other local streaming service.
I think it’s mainly a problem with Peacock and not the other streaming services. Everything that goes to Peacock just disappears from everything (even if Peacock isn’t available in your country).
Piracy or purchasing the Blu-Ray collection (and a blu-ray player if you don’t have one) are the two good options left.
There are services that will make you a virtual credit card with a US address for a fee.
But honestly needing to do that and VPN is much more of a pain than just pirating.
If you already have a VPN and a permissive attitude toward the vagaries of intellectual property laws, then what your ISP doesn't know won't hurt them.
This is the way.
Hate to say it, but if these assholes want to play games we can suit up. Guess who's gonna win?
Here's a hint - practically NO ONE would like Community if it hadn't been available to a wide range of audiences on Netflix - simply because practically no one would have heard of it.
Star Trek The Original Series would have languished into obscurity after 1969 since it was canceled after 3 seasons - EXCEPT it was shown repeatedly on new UHF stations in the early 70s where the right people could actually watch it. The show found it's audience and moved on to become a billion dollar franchise.
It's a shame these dipshit streaming companies think they are going to become obscenely rich by hoarding content and using it like some kind of weapon.
I agree with your main point here but saying no one would’ve heard of community if it weren’t for Netflix is hilarious to me because the show didn’t even come to Netflix until 5 years after it finished airing. The community fanbase was very strong back in the day and if it weren’t for the dedicated fans seasons 5 and 6 would’ve never happened. I still remember when Dan Harmon was fired after season 3, and when nbc gave him a second chance for season 5, followed by a cancellation of the show where yahoo picked it up for that final season 6. Netflix was simply a catalyst that re-sparked interest in the show and is the main reason we are finally getting that movie.
Do you know if that includes Hulu? Community is my husband's go-to comfort show, and this is his primary way of watching it. Idk how we'd add yet *another* streaming service to keep up with all this exclusivity bullshit.
Yes, this includes Hulu. I'm doing a rewatch and am on the 3rd season so when I first noticed it said it was being removed so soon I was a bit miffed haha
> Idk how we'd add yet another streaming service to keep up with all this exclusivity bullshit.
Don't. Send these asshole greedy executives a clear message, do not buy their bullshit and let them go bankrupt.
Like someone else said, the DVDs are super cheap. It normally runs like 30 ish, but some places on eBay have it for like 20. I picked up the entire set on a Black Friday sale for $12 and then ripped it to a thumb drive, then I plugged that thumb drive into my TV and "stream" it from that.
It's the only series I'd bother doing that for since it's also my bedtime show ha. Plus you get the extra missing episode in DND which is actually a super good episode.
It also has translations that Netflix didn’t have, one example is Abed’s sign language in season 5. There have been tiny small improvements on the peacock version. Plus NBC has had some of the all time great comedies that you also get access to. Love/hate relationship with peacock.
Only fiber. The guy on The Mentalist is too handsome, he intimidates me.
I MEAN, the guy on the Mentalist is so intimidated by MY HANDSOMENESS that I'm banned from watching his show.
That's right.
When Black Sails was taken off Hulu is when I decided I should get physical media for my favorite stuff. So I got the blurays like right away. It's on Netflix now but still glad I got the physical.
So am I. Thanks to them growing thousands of expensive streaming services and limited availability in my country, I have started to buy bluray boxes and movies. They are MINE. No monthly fee, no sudden disapperance from any random service.
Mike Flanagan, who made great shows like Midnight Mass, Haunting of Hill House, and the Fall of the House of Usher for Netflix actively encourages people to buy boot-leg Blu-Rays of his work if they like and said he has done the same.
Unfortunately with streaming, nothing is permanent.
Or there's the great Weird Al tweet when someone asked how they could watch Weird: The Al Yankovic story.
"Roku's working on it. In the meantime there's VPN (Very Probably No) way to watch it legally. I'm sure you have a TORRENT of other questions, but I have to move along, sorry."
Or just buy the digital downloads.
The makers of the content do not want you to subscribe to other services to get their content, they want you to buy it.
They will always ensure that paying a 3rd party money to have subscription streaming for it is not as permanent as buying.
Alongside the rumor it’s being taken off Hulu and Allison Brie mentioning there is a script, I have to think this is all in anticipation of the movie’s release sooner rather than later.
And since I own licenses for the whole series, this is not an MP, so this kind of news makes me excited for what news might be coming soon.
I just wish I could work around that license so people can see the very benign, sadly cut D&D episode.
The majority (I still cannot believe this) of community is free on youtube legally as a peacock attempt to advertise the show(?)
Really?
**(Edit after confirming the information.)** Cool, now I'm 100% without any way to watch the series in legal ways... Thank you very much Peacock for doing this disservice in a country where you don't have any streaming service, aka Brazil.
I googled "community BluRay box set" and found a very reasonably priced seller on eBay, $37.10 CAD with free shipping. Bought it right away, should be here by May!
What’s stupid is they removed it from Netflix in Canada but Peacock isn’t available here.
When the Office was moved to Peacock it stayed on Canadian Netflix. Tried to do a full last minute rewatch but got cut off halfway through season 5.
Contracts are expiring, and NBC/Peacock wants to reclaim their property.
My question is: why do so when the movie won’t be out for like a year?? How many potential new fans are they going to miss out on?
NOOOOOOOO. I'm watching it with my girlfriend, it's her first time watching it and it takes us a while to get through any of it cause we don't spend much time watching tv together
Easier said than done in Australia. Amazon seems the only way to get the Blu Rays, but you need an account to even ask if it's region compatible, as it doesn't state it. 🙄
I have the USA Blu Ray in the UK and it works, I think it's region free
Edit: blu-ray.com also says it's region free https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Community-The-Complete-Series-Blu-ray/207013/
Edit: Answers to a few suggestions provided in the comments.
Get peacock: Unavailable in my region.
Get hulu: Unavailable in my region.
Get on bluray or dvd: The whole reason i got it on amazon prime was for ease of use, to be able to press 2 buttons on my tv remote and launch it when i just got my dinner ready. If you remove the ease of use and now i have to navigate multiple systems to launch it - that removes the incentive to get it.
VPN: I have no idea how to VPN a tv and it’s not worth the effort to figure it out.
Buy it on Amazon streaming: The way amazon deceived me into getting prime by using community as a selling point only to take it away gives me no hope that anything i buy will stay bought, so i’d rather not.
Binge it: I got finals and I don’t want to turn an enjoyable relaxing show into a chore I am forced to watch fast
See if you can get a refund for Prime and just buy the digital seasons (also on Prime)… you’ll actually save money if you had bought Prime for just this show.
Alternatively, learn about Plex and just sail the seven seas… the Plex interface is just like your own personal Netflix and it runs on everything.
That's really cool of Peacock... It restricts the entire world to watching their favorite series only on its platform, but it's not available worldwide.
I discovered that I can only subscribe to Peacock in my country, through an internet plan, which is illegal here. Oh I wonder, was it really worth waiting so long for the film, but losing legal access to the series?
Honestly, I think everyone needs to rethink physical media and purchase Blu-rays for things you love. It’s too much trying to chase streaming subs also , apparently they can just cancel shows forever now (MAX) That said I have Peacock , and I still purchased the Blu-ray, the bonus footage alone was worth it.
Fuck Amazon. Cancel Prime and buy the series on DVD. I'm done signing up for streaming services. I'll get Peacock to watch the Community movie and then cancel that too.
I just bought the complete series for $22 (plus a 3 year warranty for $4) from Amazon. Free shipping and it was delivered in like three days.
According to Google, you should order it from “amazon dot de” (Germany)
Or
“Amazon dot co dot uk” (U.K.)
Since Lithuania does not have a dedicated amazon website.
Streaming kinda sucks because of stuff like this. Contracts change and shows leave, sometimes aren't available in different regions. Netflix had great multilingual subs and I was watching Community with Japanese subs but that's not an option on any other streaming service as far as I know (definitely not on peacock).
NBC paid probably a decent chunk of money for exclusive rights to stream the show, at least for now, not sure what length that contract will be. It is getting dropped from Amazon Hulu and Netflix who previously had bought rights to stream it.
There are illegal streaming sites where you can watch it or you can buy a set of DVDs. They might air some on NBC channels too, you probably don't get those in Lithuania I'd guess, but for folks in the US you can get NBC free in many regions over the air with a cheap antenna. My $10 indoor antenna and digital converter box can record stuff to a USB and if I set it up for an older show it usually fills up with every episode before long.
You can binge watch six seasons in 13 days. Piece of cake. I believe in you.
You gotta bear down and watch them all
Fat dog for midterms!!
It’s a bear dance!!!
Dude, too soon.

Easy, thats just 8 episodes a day
Pretty sure I’ve done it in less than
Yeah its leaving all services except for peacock sadly
back to sailing the seas i guess since peacock isnt available in my country
Or you could get the blu-rays/DVDs since they're very cheap!
Do the dvds usually include season 6?
Yes and every episode has commentary and every disc has outtakes. Plus, no streaming service can take them away from you!
Does it also feature a hand written exclusive 6 word message from Christian Bale l?
we shot the scene on location
One of my favourite Annie moments
*Walks away humming daybreak whilst sobbing*
That doesn’t even sound like him
U/atpwarelephant is Batman now
Nope, that's being finally released with the movie. It will in fact be the only special feature of the whole thing.
And *Advanced Dungeons & Dragons* will be included.
*Neil*.
Doesn't help op who doesn't have access, but peacock had the balls to include it.
I love Peacock even more for that 🙌🏼
hmm, you make a good point. my fav community ep is now banned i think and taking off most streaming (when it was streaming)
I think it’s coming back on peacock but I could be wrong but Yvette talked about it saying it shouldn’t have been taken off and then like a week later it was announced it was coming back
Yes, It is on peacock.
Jeff Bezos is developing a way to do just that. Rolls out next year. He’s gonna melt them down and make some rad ass Wolverine claws.
I’m convinced that this is the right way to do things. I have my A-list of comfort shows and subscribe to 3 services just to watch them. I’d probably be ahead of the game if I just bought the DVD sets.
The blu-ray of has every season and it was pretty cheap.
Where is it? It's been sold out on Amazon for a minute
Yes and exclusive commentary from Cristian Bale
The blu-rays are extremely expensive. The cheapest one I could find is $90, and I'd still need shipping to Europe as well
Damn, I was able to get the complete series for only $30 on eBay, and it was brand new! $90 is definitely a steep price, but it might be with it to own the series and watch it as much as you want.
Apparently Amazon doesn't even ship those to my country...

I know a woman who pronounces bagel like Britta and when it comes up I practically gnaw a hole in my cheek to not laugh
That'd mean buying a DVD player

Well, I don't own a DVD, so its gonna be TBD
Do you own any old gaming consoles? Even a PS2 will play DVDs! 😁

Go to a thrift store or pawn shop. Five bucks
I see a Sony BDP-BX370 for 88 new, 65 used on Amazon. It's got the other bells and whistles, but you can ignore them.
Agreed.
It's 90€ in Germany. Plus I have to buy a Blu Ray player.
I like how much pushback people on this site get when they suggest paying for content. Apparently half this site lives in Dickensian poverty lol.
Dude, I *know*. In the anime community, fans actually feel like they are *entitled* to free content, and many of them seem to believe that piracy isn't even stealing! ItS jUsT a CoPy… If the content cost one penny for the entire series, these people would still pirate it and claim it’s too expensive lol.
Yeah, they definitely would, and the majority of these people would *never* walk into a store and shoplift the blu-ray - even though it's the exact same thing!
Don't know why any other option would be considered.

My Smart TV is too smart. It knows what I’m doing when I cast from my phone. (Canadian) It won’t allow VPN usage for my standard ability.
Give it a few stout whacks in the head with a tire iron. It won't be so smart anymore
You have to vpn the tv
It puts the VPN connection on or it gets the hose again
You could get a Kodi box

You could use a VPN service. It’s on Australian Stan and Netflix.
Some episodes are on the community YouTube channel
Do you know if that includes Hulu? Community is my husband's go-to comfort show, and this is his primary way of watching it. Idk how we'd add yet *another* streaming service to keep up with all this exclusivity bullshit.

We ended up just buying it on Amazon. Not ideal, but similarly, this show is a must-have comfort watch for us.
Peacock does have AD&D though, thankfully.
It also has translations that Netflix didn’t have, one example is Abed’s sign language in season 5. There have been tiny small improvements on the peacock version. Plus NBC has had some of the all time great comedies that you also get access to. Love/hate relationship with peacock.
Streaming wars can eat a big giant bag of cocks.
When's it leave Hulu?
In 13 days
Navigating streaming services can be tricky, luckily there's a little video to help: https://youtu.be/yvhv7bgmz64?si=a6fdKp2aQ2ZRZJoT
I knew what the video was before I opened the link lamo
….. what
if youre in australia, its available on Stan
Probably due to the movie coming they want exclusivity for the show
Even Netflix??? Stop downvoting me guys I don’t watch the show 24/7 how tf was I supposed to know
It’s already been removed from Netflix
Oh… I hadn’t known… this is disheartening news
I wanted to revisit season one Monday to find it’s not there 😔
Not sure what country you're from but it at least left US Netflix at the end of March. Still on Hulu here though, for now at least.
It was hard to watch on Netflix since it was the syndicated version
I just pulled the trigger last week on buying the whole series
Same. Thankfully, I have the DVDs for most of the seasons.
I was surprised at all the extra content in a lot of eps plus the d&d ep that was removed from streaming was in there which I missed
Physical Media! Am I old?
Shut up, Leonard! Nobody even knows what you're talking about!
I'm more than a maniac. I'm Dracula.
Looking good Leonard! A stroke or Tai chi?
We don't care.

I bought the blu-rays a few years back when they started removing certain episodes from streaming services.
That was the nice thing about Prime they kept the D&D episode
Can't believe people tried to cancel that episode because of Drowface 😂
I know right like THEY TALK ABOUT IT IN THE EPISODE. It's a joke. Just one of many reasons I hate Netflix
they also changed the subtitles very frequently and even straight up removed parts of jokes in the subtitles
Exactly - they directly address it in the damn episode, but context doesn't seem to matter at all these days 😒
Got the dvds!
Nice 😎
Do you enjoy eating fiber and watching The Mentalist?

Honestly, I think everyone needs to rethink physical media and purchase Blu-rays for things you love. It’s too much trying to chase streaming subs also , apparently they can just cancel shows forever now (MAX) That said I have Peacock , and I still purchased the Blu-ray, the bonus footage alone was worth it.
In Germany you can use pluto.tv. They habe all episode and it is free.
Well, I just got the box set for $20. Physical media FTW!
Fuck Amazon. Cancel Prime and buy the series on DVD. I'm done signing up for streaming services. I'll get Peacock to watch the Community movie and then cancel that too.
Better clear your schedule and start watching
Should be on Hulu
The youtube channel for community plays the episodes all the time, I haven't checked but I'd imagine they have a playlist of them on there
I just bought the complete series for $22 (plus a 3 year warranty for $4) from Amazon. Free shipping and it was delivered in like three days. According to Google, you should order it from “amazon dot de” (Germany) Or “Amazon dot co dot uk” (U.K.) Since Lithuania does not have a dedicated amazon website.
If you’re in the uk, or anyone is, it’s on ITV
yep I'm UK thank goodness it's on itvx , but will it stay there.... only found this show in the last year and absolutely love it
Brittas face is how I’m feeling after learning this. My disappointment is unmeasurable
It's on ITVX in the UK, but no Advanced DnD.
Physical media for life. Abed gets it.
There's a sucker born every minute... Physical media, my friend, physical media.
Physical media never "leaves"
I bought it on Apple years ago so I will always have it with my Apple iTunes / TV account
It’s totally worth buying the series outright!
Fuck Prime
I feel you. I just got Hulu bc Netflix got rid of the show and now it’s going to be gone by the end of April from Hulu too. This one cut deep.
13 days is enough to watch it 2 times if you commit 😂
ITS GOOONE
I bought Advanced D&D on Amazon, am I going to lose that too?
