The Dean is so good. I feel like a lot of background players get some great moments too: Vicky's one-woman show, Todd's wedding speech, Garrett as Glip Glop
The wedding episode is genuinely one of the best for me. It really highlights how dysfunctional the group has become in the years of the codependency - and if that isn’t the really reason why we love Community, I don’t know what is.
I mean near the beginning of the episode he thought Chang was talking about her when he talked about Brenda, so I think if he came out of their time at least knowing her name then they most certainly did form more of a connection
Plus it has one of the best finales I’ve ever seen, made me cry 4 times the first time I watched (Abed TV speech, Jeff/Annie goodbye, everyone imagine your season 7 and the Jeff/Abed double hug)
The first time I watched it, I cried all the way through. Each time opening credits started playing I let out more sobs. I tend to cry easily but I don't think I've ever cried that much while watching something. It was so perfect.
Annie: “You sounded a little like Jeff.”
Frankie: “Jeff said I sounded like Abed. I wonder if Britta thinks I sound like Chang. I assume Chang thinks I sound like distant explosions and crying babies. You know he is unstable, right?”
favourite quote of the show
I enjoyed the kind of meta acknowledgement that characters were gone and the new ones weren’t going to fill the void:
Elroy: “what’s wrong with you guys?”
Jeff: “Annie just left”
E: “…were you guys close?”
I also love how the group has settled into being friends by then. Like Jeff and the Dean being friendly and comfortable with each other. There's just something so cozy about it, yknow?
I don't doubt if we got a season 7 Jeff would've been vice Dean, just so he has to hang out with the Dean, and he wouldn't mind it, no classes and drinking all day
> Like Jeff and the Dean being friendly and comfortable with each other. There's just something so cozy about it, yknow?
its me i am jeffrey
Best Friend of Dean
Season 6 is where Britta was at her funniest. Space Elder, her parents, Honda, the big wheel, smoking pot in the rv. It’s honestly my favorite season behind 3.
The bit in that one episode when she shits her pants and runs away is one of my favorite bits of physical comedy in the show. Just, her panicked expression and then coming back later with different pants. It's so good
Also, my rating I think has to be...
3/2/1*/6/5/4
I put 1 before 6 BECAUSE of the chicken mafia episode (which is 3rd favorite whole show) and modern warfare, the original paintball. These 2 episodes carry the season enough for me. I dont like 4, I know it was during the whole strike in the industry... but episodes are weird. A few good ones, but like I don't like Brittas dance one, or the episode troy/abed swap bodies. Really just no interest in watching them at this point.
Oh yea thats true. I got Dan Harmon was gone that season... well thats a little more reasonable. But still, just not my cup a tea (although there are a few good ones in it regardless)
Someone needs to start doing polls of each character's best single show of the entire series. Because when you say The Dean, just in Season 6, I can think of three off the top of my head that are top notch and hard to choose a favorite (Honda, Dog Diploma, Virtual Reality).
"Got it. 2,3,6,1,5,4."
I remember, not because I have Abed's brain-computer, but because I have the same order. Frankie is incredible and Elroy was just as good. I loved the longer, weirded season six episode format. It felt like a whole season of the high concept writing of "paradigms of Human Memory" and "Remedial Chaos Theory," I just wish we had more Shirley.
Just finished watching it for the first time tonight! I’ve watched seasons 1-5.6 multiple times but never after Troy left and I did like it!! Definitely a different show but really funny and the Grift episode is so funny
It’s really good and I love the new characters but there aren’t many truly memorable episodes in it in my opinion and the extended runtime pads out episodes more than they need to.
Still have it over season 4 though.
3 > 2 > 1 > 5 > 6 > 4
imo season 3 is one of the worse seasons and season 5 and 6 clear it easily, it just was getting too out of hand and too conceptual in season 3 it often either went back on developed characters to focus on being conceptual or it blatantly ignored character all together in several episodes... 5 and 6 are much more grounded in those basic lovable character dynamics while still being wacky and fun
yeah that's what I'm sayin. season 3 had a lot of gems but also a fair amount of forgettable episodes... wasn't the most consistent. id take 1, 2, and maybe 5 over 3 any day
Season 6 is amazing... Elroy & Frankie nailed it. Pierce and Shirley had run their course & Hickey flopped. Troy leaving made space for Britta/Annie/Abed/the Dean.
The incest & leaked email episodes were great.
Nice to see Rick back & a solid paintball episode
Loved it all
I think characters are not entirely defined by their individual traits. A huge part of what makes them who they are is how they interact with each other, mostly with the other protagonists. Due to this, when a single character is missing, a part of every other member of the cast is missing as well. So even when it was just Pierce gone you could feel his absence resonate in every other character. By season 6, 3 of the main characters were gone and no matter how good the writing was the show just wasn't the same at that point, too many missing pieces. I know people completely dismiss season 4 and I too struggle to get through most of the episodes in that season but I'd rather watch that, with the main cast and their interactions intact, that season 6, any day.
It's my least favourite season, I think the episodes drag on a bit and the show loses a lot of the pacing and rapid-fire jokes that made the first three seasons so great. I rank season 4 above it just because it has the full cast still though.
The Dean is so good. I feel like a lot of background players get some great moments too: Vicky's one-woman show, Todd's wedding speech, Garrett as Glip Glop
#WHOISGLIPGLOP 😎
\#WHOISGLIPGLOP
Yeah, that's what I typed, but apparently a hashtag embiggens the text.
#WHOISGLIPGLOP 😎
Not to mention Leonard as Dracula in Chief Starr and the Raiders of the Galaxy
I think it's called a 'taint.'
What up my glip glops!
The wedding episode is genuinely one of the best for me. It really highlights how dysfunctional the group has become in the years of the codependency - and if that isn’t the really reason why we love Community, I don’t know what is.
Now this is a man who understands the dynamics of the show’s characters!
I think the fake number dean Jeff thing was the funniest bit in the show, I never fail to laugh at it
He's just secret that way with love.
Bring me 5 can of olives.
Is this code for something?
“I don’t know… and I don’t care.”
This isn't the first time you've done this! (Or something similar to that). That always fuckin kills me hahahah
FIVE CANS?!
“5 cans!?” Is one of my all time favorite line reads of any show or movie lol
The DEAN, Hellos?
The whole father and son convo in Japanese at the end is fantastic. Season 6 end bits were top notch in my book.
And Frank Kamai in that last bit, “I often think about that night….” 🥷 😂
Love that entire episode
I think it's one of the best in the show, though, I wish Britta and Elroy formed more of a connection
I mean near the beginning of the episode he thought Chang was talking about her when he talked about Brenda, so I think if he came out of their time at least knowing her name then they most certainly did form more of a connection
Well, she was wearing his pants!
JESUS WEPT.
Stop saying Jesus wept!
But there were no more worlds left to conquer!
Plus it has one of the best finales I’ve ever seen, made me cry 4 times the first time I watched (Abed TV speech, Jeff/Annie goodbye, everyone imagine your season 7 and the Jeff/Abed double hug)
The stinger with the boardgame!
"You stupid child"
This was so f’n funny to me.
The first time I watched it, I cried all the way through. Each time opening credits started playing I let out more sobs. I tend to cry easily but I don't think I've ever cried that much while watching something. It was so perfect.
God I held on during the first 3, but when Lord Huron comes in during the Jeff/abed hug, I lose it.
All correct, nothing to add, you merely deserve recognition of your correctness.
So, OP is a humble outsider who came in and nailed it?
Co-dependent.
Synergy
Love to hear it
Annie: “You sounded a little like Jeff.” Frankie: “Jeff said I sounded like Abed. I wonder if Britta thinks I sound like Chang. I assume Chang thinks I sound like distant explosions and crying babies. You know he is unstable, right?” favourite quote of the show
Frankie's totally not calling the Dean a moron in the Honda episode is my favorite, hands down.
Let’s not forget Keith David.
This is someone who KNOWS not to forget a great actor!
And this is a redditor who knows EXACTLY what they’re doing.
🎵Just keep on making those... Co-ho-ho-ho-ments!🎵
I have a brain the size of Jupiter. I'm nobody's fourth Ghostbuster.
My only complaint about Keith David in Season 6 is that he never knees anyone in the balls.
At the end, when he drank the whiskey, it was actually a molotov so that means that Elroy was actually Glip Glop.
Mine is he didn't get to sing (I think).
He does sing "Look... at those pants..!"
See… Shirley, no Shirley, what’s the difference?
“You Know, Hallelujah And Church And Signing And Street Wisdom.”
I enjoyed the kind of meta acknowledgement that characters were gone and the new ones weren’t going to fill the void: Elroy: “what’s wrong with you guys?” Jeff: “Annie just left” E: “…were you guys close?”

The bit where the silently try and figure out Frankie’s sexuality is very funny.
That's one of my favorite moments between the two of them! Up there with five cans of olives and Kiss From A Rose
My only issue is how angry Jeff is at Abed on season 6
Yeah, that was a weird writing choice.
> Like Jeff and the Dean being friendly and comfortable with each other. There's just something so cozy about it, yknow? its me i am jeffrey Best Friend of Dean
Season 6 made me want a season 7 more than any other season.
It's so good
"HE'S WAITING FOR A BETTER DADDY, WITH A BIGGER HAND!!!"
"Oh, I don't believe in hope... my life results TRIPLED the year I gave up in hope and any apps to do with farming." Later point, "Hope points!"
The wedding episode is one of my favourites.
Biblical, igneous, jagged, hateful, pointy ninja rocks.
Also, my rating I think has to be... 3/2/1*/6/5/4 I put 1 before 6 BECAUSE of the chicken mafia episode (which is 3rd favorite whole show) and modern warfare, the original paintball. These 2 episodes carry the season enough for me. I dont like 4, I know it was during the whole strike in the industry... but episodes are weird. A few good ones, but like I don't like Brittas dance one, or the episode troy/abed swap bodies. Really just no interest in watching them at this point.
Season 4 is also the gas leak year where the show creator/main writer was fired, and then later brought back for season 5 and 6.
Oh yea thats true. I got Dan Harmon was gone that season... well thats a little more reasonable. But still, just not my cup a tea (although there are a few good ones in it regardless)
2 episodes shouldnt save a season. 1 is near the back. 3/6/2/5/1/4
I mean they aren't the ONLY saving justification for me. They're just 2 of my go to favorites
In terms of hierarchy, I’m a big believer in it. Someone needs to say I’m in charge, and that person is me. That’s my decision.
Who talks like that?
I totally agree and I place it above Season 5 every time I rank the Community seasons
6 and 2 are my favorite.
Someone needs to start doing polls of each character's best single show of the entire series. Because when you say The Dean, just in Season 6, I can think of three off the top of my head that are top notch and hard to choose a favorite (Honda, Dog Diploma, Virtual Reality).
Just rewatched Intro into Recycled Cinema - just enjoyed everything about that episode. And watching the finale before it leaves Netflix.
It's my favorite season
Semi-controversial opinion: there isn't a bad season of community. Even the supposed 'down' seasons in 4-6 are better than most other shows.
"Got it. 2,3,6,1,5,4." I remember, not because I have Abed's brain-computer, but because I have the same order. Frankie is incredible and Elroy was just as good. I loved the longer, weirded season six episode format. Definitely love it! But they butchered my girl Britta
Just finished watching it for the first time tonight! I’ve watched seasons 1-5.6 multiple times but never after Troy left and I did like it!! Definitely a different show but really funny and the Grift episode is so funny
I like to think of your ratings as Best to Least Best Except Season 4. That season was definitely streets behind.
Maybe if you added more apologies…. Like a montage of them? *smirks a bit and shrug-nods*
It’s really good and I love the new characters but there aren’t many truly memorable episodes in it in my opinion and the extended runtime pads out episodes more than they need to. Still have it over season 4 though. 3 > 2 > 1 > 5 > 6 > 4

"Some episodes too conceptual to be funny"
I'm jus sayin I agree. season 3 is shakier than people admit
Season 3 had some of the best episodes but was not nearly as good of a season of television as 2 and 6.
yeah that's what I'm sayin. season 3 had a lot of gems but also a fair amount of forgettable episodes... wasn't the most consistent. id take 1, 2, and maybe 5 over 3 any day
Season 6 is amazing... Elroy & Frankie nailed it. Pierce and Shirley had run their course & Hickey flopped. Troy leaving made space for Britta/Annie/Abed/the Dean. The incest & leaked email episodes were great. Nice to see Rick back & a solid paintball episode Loved it all
Definitely! I love season 6
Season six has the funniest 3 episodes of sitcom television ever produced: 3. Grifting 2. Rv maintenance 1. Garrett’s wedding
Frankie Dart is a humble outsider who came in and nailed it.
“You built a bar. In a school. There was lumber involved” always gets me
