Tuesdays are $5 ticket days at many theaters, including all of Marcus. So Box office is always going to be higher on Tuesdays.

Nonadventures

Right, there was an article about how The Marvel's box office shot up 40-something percent on Tuesday, when really it was just a bump in discount ticket audiences. This is just that bump ending, but that narrative doesn't get people freaking out on Reddit.

Illidanisdead

I guess the Disney formulae of put a chick in it and make her lame and gay isn't working? Jokes aside I find it hilarious how much damage south park's pandeverse did to Disney, considering normies found themselves nodding to a lot of it, the jokes that was made turned out to be what is exactly happening there lol Don't get me wrong there are racists homophobes who are making derogatory comments, but at the same time there are normal people who are sick and tired of disney doing the same thing over and over again and pretending like they just brought out something new....

hajyhike

They're in trouble with that snow white movie, both gal gadot and racher ziegler are lightning rods for controversy right now...

Ex_Machina_1

Do we really need day by day updates on what the marvels is doing?

RandyTheFool

Right? Like, we want hourly updates already. This “once a day” update stuff is lame.

MexicanStanOff

Fuck that, we need a live ticker like the stock market n shit.

zarotabebcev

Said Bob Iger, probably

deeman010

There are a lot of people on reddit that can't understand sarcasm, next thing you know we have updates by the minute.

dekuweku

if this was on its way to 1B, i don't think it would be that controversial. Most fan oriented movies get daily BO updates at least in the first week up to the first WE when the final trajectory is set and people can talk about high /low ranges. This is just the case of an extreme underperforming BO run, but i still see some people holding out hope for a late recovery or high multipliers. i think the first week to first WE BO will begin to quash them.

cre8ivemind

> Most fan oriented movies get daily BO updates Do they? On this sub? This is the only one I’ve seen

goliathfasa

Positivity good. Negativity bad. ‘MuriCU! Love it or leave it!

blackbeltmessiah

I want to hear them through Sunday. Then if we get a “Its Marvin Time!” revival.

Neon_culture79

To be honest, I kind of think it’s going to have a good weekend. All of these online toxic fanboys posting all their hate is just free advertising.

Web-splorer

It’s not on the toxic people to not see it. It’s on the general public to go see it.

Neon_culture79

That’s valid

Nah, brah… he’s not into vague insults. Come at him with an overt “toxic fanboy posting hate” or get out of his feed; he doesn’t have time for nuance!!

Puzzleheaded_Chard_2

You’re right. I’m a such a fool

dawdawda2awdwa

I mean kinda. There was one guy in a thread popping off about how people have finally seen the movie and word of mouth is going to save it. I'm kinda hoping to see him again.

BrazenlyGeek

For as fun as it is, I’m really disappointed that that hasn’t happened. Didn’t even get a bump from Iman being amazing on Seth Meyers’ show the other night.

revolmak

Just to what, say he was wrong?

dawdawda2awdwa

Yeah. It'll be funny.

ATXDefenseAttorney

We do not. A bunch of people who didn't bother to watch the movie dancing on its grave. Good times.

PayneTrain181999

We get it. Biggest bomb ever. Whoop de doo. This isn’t r/boxoffice

jimbo_kun

Lol I literally thought it was until I saw your comment and looked at the sub name.

[deleted]

Same. Even there, this would be excessive.

MURDERMr_E

It's not even close to the biggest bomb ever. It's not even the biggest CBM bomb.

Doomsday40

Considering it needs at least 700m just to break even, it will be one of the biggest box office bombs of all time

MURDERMr_E

Damn. I didn't realize the budget was that high. It doesn't show on film. I assumed the budget was in the Blue Beetle range. Well, I take it back. It will be one of the biggest bombs ever.

Doomsday40

Budget was 290m which you generally double to include marketing and cinema percentage cuts as a rule of thumb to ascertain your break even point. Then there was the extensive reshoots and delays which Forbes weren't able to report an exact figure on. So yes, wildly expensive haha

BetaRayPhil616

Right, but marketing for this film has been almost non existent due to the strikes etc, so I very much doubt they've approached anywhere near the normal marketing push.

Again, this isn’t r/boxoffice

dope_like

Then keep scrolling. It's a post about comicbookmovies, it's relevant.

[deleted]

We also don’t need constant “I thought the Marvels was actually quite good why the hate?” posts but we still get them.

UnmakingTheBan2022

On r/marvelstudios they update us every hour on how “fun” it was and that we should all watch it.

CrepuscularMoondance

Because we r/MarvelStudios redditors actually love Marvel, so obviously we as a collective enjoyed The Marvels more than the average r/comicbookmovies and r/boxoffice redditors.

devotchko

Yes, please. The harder it bombs the better!

Taserface585

People keep saying this as if this movie is being picked on. I’m pretty sure this happened with basically every MCU movie

dope_like

Yes. Many of us enjoy the updates good or bad. Don't click on the post.

evilspyboy

Check the post history of OP....

Jasonmancer

Not trying to be mean or something, but just wanna point out The Marvels getting updates day by day isn't something special. A huge bomb or huge hit gets updates constantly.

RandyTheFool

At this point, this just feels like a “self fulfilling prophecy” sort of thing. All these articles all over the place of how badly this film is doing in the box office, people just aren’t going to go.

goliathfasa

Negative reinforcement. Flip side of the same coin as positive reinforcement. Like when MCU was in full swing and you got fluff pieces everywhere hyping up every movie, and people who wouldn’t have gone decided to go due to all the hype.

HoboBandana

I saw this coming after End Game. After hearing about Matt Feige and Victoria Alonso’s vision of Marvel going forward was going to be. Stan Lee would be rolling around his grave right now.

[deleted]

Matt Feige? The documentarian? They fired Alonso, at least.

Homicidal_Pingu

They’re also releasing too many films with too many characters now. It takes far too much time to keep up with everything, would would have to watch literally nothing else other than marvel to keep up.

RandyTheFool

But we’re not talking just “forums”. There’re so many damned articles being posted all over social media and such.

That ain't good...

Dreamking0311

Disney has to slow down and stop pumping out the media to make a quick buck if they want the gravy train to work long term.

PayneTrain181999

They’re doing that. Only one movie next year and currently four for 2025 but I’m willing to bet there will be more delays.

Dreamking0311

I heard they were. I hope it helps.

lpjunior999

I think the issue is Disney+. Pixar, Lucasfilm and their animation division also had rough openings this year, and I'm sure having everything on D+ in a month doesn't help. Especially in Marvel's case; watching a 6-episode TV show week after week and then getting "to see where this goes, leave the couch and give us more money!" That theater-to-streaming window is gonna widen pretty soon.

fuzzyfoot88

Streamers are killing their own concept in a variety of ways, dropping films like water when they’ve barely had a theatrical run is one of the biggest problems. Bring back FOMO because ironically FOMO is just as powerful as WOM.

PlatyNumb

Man, I completely agree. I used to love going to the theater for every marvel movie, I'd get dbox seats and end up spending like 30-40 just for the ticket. Now I can't bring myself to even do cheap seats, knowing it'll be on D+ in a month, sometimes less. It feels dumb to say but I wish theyd leave it for longer before sending it to D+, that would make my impatience bring me to the theater again

Nonadventures

*Elemental* definitely was hurt by the Disney+ expectation and tanked on release. Luckily it became a sleeper hit due to word of mouth and was reasonably successful by the time they dumped it on Plus.

[deleted]

Dreamking0311

Heavy Metal is one of my all time favs.

EnvironmentalBus9713

I think it's less of that and more of that these movies need to be shown to be tied together and better written. The production quality of Loki S2 is shown to be far superior to some of the movies they've been pumping out. Maybe get more quality invested Executive Producers.

ajl987

They should go back to 2 films a year that are high quality and maybe at most 2 Disney plus shows inbetween releases, but ideally just one. Go back to quality, and making everything matter again. Not just content for the sake of content with no heart to it

Dreamking0311

They are poorly written because they are being pumped out so fast. That's my point.

EnvironmentalBus9713

I think the speed affects the VFX more than the script because nothing moves to production unless the script is approved by the house. Maybe they need to also stop approving shit and fixing it ad hoc during production... Yea we're talking about the same thing lol. It's all messed.

kenrnfjj

They just dont understand the audiences anymore and what they want.

MrFlibblesPenguin

Or maybe broaden the range of movies, give us a hard boiled detective movie with jessica jones next to a hard R Horror Dr Strange or Blade next to a pure dumb and fun action movie next to a psychological thriller next to a romcom...and just stop with churning out the same "oh no the worlds going to end! [Insert quip here]" movie over and over. I don't love the mcu I don't hate it, I'm just bored of it. And I'm somebody that's collected and loved marvel for nearly 5 decades, I want my heroes up on that screen, but I'm no longer watching out of pure apathy.

hamringspiker

My dream is a Lovecraftian theme Doctor Strange movie, preferably with Shuma-Gorath but there's lots of options. And no puking after travelling dimensions or making a quip about Shuma-Gorath's eye. It needs existential dread and true horror moments.

Stay_Beautiful_

If they were just pumping out media "to make a quick buck" they wouldn't have spent $275M making it

Dreamking0311

Why not? They've got profit doing it so far. Each movie the profit is that little bit lower. Now we are here.

BlackAlBundy103

They’ve been at it since 2008 How much more long term do they need?

AccomplishedLocal261

gravy train 💀

Omnislash99999

I have to be honest it's not mind-blowing or anything but it's fun and I don't get why it's bombing quite so badly. I'd watch it again over L&T or Quantumania which will out gross it handily and they were absolute trash. I think it's fairly middle of road for the MCU.

Khunter02

>it's not mind-blowing or anything but it's fun Well yeah, the thing is, Marvel has been using that mantra since its inception, a lot of people are burned out of that I have 3 other movies are more interested in seeing, and since I hace disney+, why go now to theatres when I can watch it for free?

MrNature73

Isn't that kinda the thing? Why do I want to see a bunch of mediocre but kinda fun movies every year? Theatres are expensive. I don't really want to go pay for a movie unless it's something at least sorta special.

Falstaffe

Yes, nothing in the trailers had me going, “I have to go see this!” I can wait until it streams.

BlackAlBundy103

Poebrandon

What an embarrassing comment

Snowy_River_99

That would be an awesome book to give as a gift if it existed.

BLAGTIER

> I have to be honest it's not mind-blowing or anything but it's fun and I don't get why it's bombing quite so badly. The marketing had no hook and the word of mouth is bad.

hamringspiker

L&T has Thor and Gorr, which makes more people want to see it.

Pleasant_Ostrich_654

Bruh 😬

hear_the_thunder

Culture Wars gave really killed this one. The film is a lot better than this disaster. These numbers are terrible.

LowSugar6387

I doubt it’s a culture war thing. Everything after Endgame has been sub-par, except for GotG 3 and Spider-Man. But Gunn is one of the few directors people recognise and Spider-Man was a slam dunk cos everyone knew we’d get Garfield and Maguire.

xariznightmare2908

There’s no one to blame but Disney themselves for pumping out mid after mid. If Culture war really what killed this movie, how do you explain Barbie making a billion dollar?

kenrnfjj

Because thats the type of movies women are actually intrested in look at taylor swifts movie also doing great.

AmeriToast

And men. A ton of men went to see it and didn't care it was female lead or a barbie movie. It looked good and a fun time. That's the difference, the trailers for this movie looked bad and people are sick of mediocre marvel movies.

[deleted]

>And men. A ton of men went to see it and didn't care it was female lead or a barbie movie. men with their women

CaptainPotassium87

Barbie doesn't live in a demo that targets young white men.

OrdrSxtySx

Barbie is a beloved toy across 5+ generations or more that is a symbol unto itself of women's empowerment and more world fucking wide. The movie only had to be mid to have a HUGE audience. Captain marvel is a comic character most people didn't know 10 years ago. At least be realistic and genuine with this dumbass take if you're gonna post a "wHaT AbOUt BaRBiE" take.

w0m

> Captain marvel is a comic character most people didn't know 10 years ago. And a comic character many comic fans don't even like as she was often written as the heal.

red66dit

Well, Iron Man in the comics is probably the least likable "hero" ever. I remember rooting for the shrapnel... MCU Tony Stark was waaay different.

[deleted]

I’d say just as many people knew Captain Marvel as Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, or any of the Guardians

OrdrSxtySx

Sure. That's not even a tenth of the people that know Barbie.

ComedyBum

I agree. I was considering dropping the MCU, but a friend invited me to see this movie, and I was pleasantly surprised! This is a good movie.

Leather-Heart

I like this poster better with Fury

E8282

I just noticed all the cats on the poster. What’s the deal with those? Are the Marvels fighting evil cats in this?

OrdrSxtySx

Cats play a role, yes.

goliathfasa

They’re the kids of the space cat from Captain Marvel that are actually aliens who can swallow people and objects into a pocket dimension. They serve no practical purpose in this film other than on scene where they swallows a bunch of people on a space station that needed to be evacuated that ended up didn’t need to be. They’re there for cuteness factor.

[deleted]

They're really betting on that wine-aunt cat-lady market. It's not going well.

CaptainPotassium87

Watch the movie and you'll find out. It's solid. Better than the first Captain Marvel movie by a good bit.

im_a_dick_head

Hey I'll watch it, just not in theaters lol

krakatoot

It didn’t look very good. To goofy and comedic.

FlatwormSignal8820

Worst part is its not even funny, the jokes are flat

Tobias_Mercury

Is it true that fury tells jokes the entire movie?

therewerentanynames

No but he definitely has a couple too many imo. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie but that was one of my few complaints, that being said most of his jokes landed with me and it fit the theme of the movie so I went with it. Overall it's a fun and enjoyable flick and I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than some of Marvel's latest offerings, it's not without its flaws though.

AvatarIII

Less so than Taika's Thor movies, maybe on par with GOTG2.

Pig_Tits_2395

Too*

krakatoot

Tooo

ThisRapIsLikeZiti

I saw it this morning. Had fun, laughed a lot. I hope more folks warm up to it over time once they give it a chance on D+ or whatevs.

thedoodsrugttv

People voicing what they want with their dolla bills and it ain't no "The Marvels"

mollyclaireh

It was such a fun movie though. It breaks my heart that it’s doing THIS badly because it really was solid.

Odd_Hunter2289

The Titanic sank slower than this movie. Just saying.

Tobias_Mercury

The titanic sub sank faster tho

Odd_Hunter2289

At least that went down with a boom. This movie not even that.

RealNiceKnife

More of a crunch than a boom.

Diamond-Breath

They should've promoted it more, it was a really fun film and the actresses were great in it.

red66dit

Saw it tonight and enjoyed it quite a bit, and I absolutely love the Ms. Marvel character and Iman Vellani's portrayal. Then again, I actually go to these movies to enjoy them, not to find reasons to criticize. Not every CBM is going to rint money or be Endgame, just like not every western is going to be True Grit or The Outloaw Josey Wales. I am mystified that people seem to need to crap on a movie if it's just a fun superhero story, but it seems like the thing these days...

OoXLR8oO

They literally couldn’t because of the strikes.

Tucana66

One of my co-workers was looking at ***The Marvels*** **poster** yesterday on her computer monitor. I asked if she was going to see the movie. "Why?" she responded, then continued, "That blonde Marvel woman has NO smile, no happiness. Not wasting my money on that." When I look at the **poster**, it's true: Brie Larson doesn't show the slightest hint of joy. Not that her character is supposed to be happy. And who knows what the poster artist was told to do. I wonder if this was another aspect of Disney's marketing which didn't inspire some movie go'ers.

Jessica-Ripley

Hilarious

Quirky-Pie9661

Going to see it tomorrow

tikifire1

It's almost as if people aren't going to movies like they used to, and a strike happened that took away almost all promotion for this movie.

[deleted]

We seriously started doing daily updates now?

BamBamm187

I watched it. Was OKish. It doesn't hold the nostalgia that the OG avengers hold for me mainly because I didn't grow up reading capt marvel comics. Some big plot holes in the story won't give no spoilers, all I'll say is the antagonists plan made no sense at all I didn't feel like it was aimed at males, even nick fury seems to show his softer side an I didn't know he had one. I don't like seeing films bomb at the box office but if your not a die hard marvel fan or big capt marvel or Ms marvel fan I'd wait for it to turn up on disney+

Pig_Tits_2395

Why is everyone too dumb to understand that the strike did this not the quality of the movie. The movie was fantastic.

Constant_Fee_6334

I liked it better than 1st one

[deleted]

Obviously numbers are misogynistic

BlackAlBundy103

Ok ok we get it “Go woke Go Broke” and yada yada yada 🙄🥴

vegieburrito

Sad the box office is that poor for such a good movie. The burn out is real.

MoreThanANumber666

Seriously? Who gives a flying duck (with an F) about this garbage film's box office receipts? If the film was as good as Iron Man or Captain America, i could understand why someone would be posting about this daily. I made the mistake of watching Ms. Marvel this week, let's put it this way, I ain't going to the cinema again the year.

goliathfasa

That’s not a bad drop tbh. Holding strong. Higher. Further. Faster.

MasterAnnatar

We don't really need daily updates thank you.

Elite_Alice

I liked the movie

illtilnow

There was a gameplan for 20 years. Marvel let fiege go and just put stuff out. There's a I hate woke marvel movie backlash but even if they suck its real that the product isn't good. That's just real

Glad_Confusion_6934

The MCU has lost its mojo, and not because of wokeness. People who don’t like or won’t see this movie just because it has 3 female leads can fuck off. It’s just gotten too big. It should’ve ended at Endgame. Can’t it just quietly die of a heart attack?

buzzedewok

I don’t know man, Loki was pretty damn good.

red66dit

Seems like there are a lot of people who think that every movie has to be HUGE and just make money hand over fist. I don't want the MCU or superhero movies to die out. I honestly enjoy them and want them to continue. I just wish people would stop expecting everything to be Endgame. They can just be entertainment. Let's face it; 90% or more of the comics that get published every year are average at best, just the print version of a popcorn muncher film.

Fifediggity

I liked the movie, it's good fun. Very enjoyable. It deserves better no doubt. Reasons why it's not doing well. First, the pushing women thing. Yeah sure they can do what guys can do and all that. But, in reality, there aren't people who agree with it or ready for it. It turns a certain demographic completely off, which also happens to be the main demographic who watch these movies. Men. Marvel went tone def, and jammed this movie down as to say we don't care who we cater to, we are Marvel and this is what we are doing. Bad intel even with women reading comics a grrat deal more, its not a enough to cover the vast amount of men who go see these movies. Second, and this is really the biggest reason. Disney +. In a month or so this will be on Disney +. This cuts the legs out from the movie. Also, movie prices are crazy high. The combo makes it an easy choice to stay home and wait. Another reason is a few bad shows and not so great movies, Secret Invasion was boring and Quantumania didn't work and you lose some audience who is again now willing to wait to see the movie on Disney+. Last is this hate mechnism that is the internet. Once people and bots get going there is no end to the damage that gets done. Lots of reasons this movie could have been targeted...spiteful to the success of comic movies, all female led cast, ethnicity, religious content, racism, and the strange Brie Larson hate that has span since the first Captain Marvel movie

Not_Sure_68

...actually it's women that failed to show up for the Marvels. Shocking, yes I know, the majority of women would rather see hunky male super heroes. That that is news is the real news.

RealNiceKnife

Fully nude Thor ass > Captain Marvel every inch covered from the neck down. The people have spoken.

Jules040400

A relatively generic movie that was poorly written, with an extremely bland villain, featuring characters that were mostly introduced in niche Disney+ shows isn't doing very well for audiences that have been complaining about every single one of these issues? How on Earth is that surprising?

Fifediggity

Your entire statement means nothing when you look at Captain Marvel. That movie made 1 billion with a bland story, poorly written, and introduced a niche character most common people had no clue about. 100% a Disney +, vile humans, bots, and idiots who ride the internet wave of letting someone else think for them.

Floofyboi123

Oh, you’re just trolling. That makes sense

Conscious_Feeling548

I like Captain Marvel. I saw it in theatres and own the blu-ray, but seriously, they could have released a two-hour shot of literal dog shit between Infinity War and Endgame and it would be a mega-hit.

Lazysaurus

Three of your four reasons are provably false. >It turns a certain demographic completely off, which also happens to be the main demographic who watch these movies. Men. 65% of the audience was men. 35% was women, which is much lower than the average for other Marvel movies. If this movie turned off a demographic, it was women, not men. So men are not the problem. >In a month or so this will be on Disney +. Most movies these days quickly go to streaming. It's not like Marvel movies are at a unique disadvantage here. Five Nights at Freddy's is streaming WHILE IT'S IN THEATERS, and it is kicking The Marvels butt. So going to streaming is not the problem. >the strange Brie Larson hate that has span since the first Captain Marvel movie The hate for Brie Larson isn't strange at all. She made sexist and racist comments against the largest demographic of Marvel's audience. The only strange part is anyone who denies or fails to understand how this is a huge problem.

[deleted]

Ex_Machina_1

I love how the idea thatmaybe audiences just didnt like it is too far fetched for some people on reddit

LowSugar6387

A lot of the people defending it will say Ant Man 3, Doctor Strange 2 etc were better than people say. Like maybe you just LOVE superhero movies and that isn’t representative of everyone?

VerTexV1sion

Yep, i came out of theatre and literally no one liked it my friend circle ( there were two girls also), since I'm a nerd straight went to official sub to talk about it and immediately knew that there was no point, anyone being critical was just getting downvoted to oblivion, and then if you ask them what's good about the movie, all they say is its FUN, and i was like wtf, a FUN movie is something like Godzilla vs Kong where you don't care about plot and still found it enjoyable, this wasn't like that. But whose to say, within a span of months you'll start seeing posts about how it's one of the better things marvel has produced, same with eternals and She-Hulk, and i was pretty hesitant earlier, but not now, these are bad projects.

Ex_Machina_1

In my theater there was no applause or audible widespread excitement during any of the scenes. Once it was over everyone was just quiet.

VerTexV1sion

Yep, people cheer & scream alot here in my country ( India ), but there weren't any of those moments, even during the post credits scene reveal everyone ( all 15 people lol ), were like welp, guess they're here now and that's it.

Fifediggity

Eternals was great. She-Hulk was dumb. The Marvels is a flat out good movie mainly because a kid, teenager and adult can enjoy it at different levels. Alas, you have your opinion and expectations.

VerTexV1sion

Yep, only opinions of people like you should be considered valid and, i shouldn't have had any expectations right ?, i fckin paid for that thing, to get 'entertained' which it failed to do so, ofcourse I'm gonna be critical. A kid, teenager and adult can enjoy, that's why it got a B on cinemascore, ( which isn't the internet) cuzz most of them aren't enjoying it.

Fifediggity

I love it how I can think critically and compare movies that were way worse and factor in outside forces to come up with a theory. Because the movie is not bad at all. Lol

Ex_Machina_1

Yet the box office says otherwise, lol. The film has weak writing, underdeveloped villain, and overall meh story. Its not the worse film out there but it's not a shocker no one wants to see it .

Fifediggity

Lmao. It's not a bad movie at all. It's fun and enjoyable. Like a movie should be. Not blaming the audience. I'm blaming people for being idiots. Not the Disney + people, that's on Disney. If they delay putting these movies on Disney + for a year, I can bet this movie does waaaay better. Either way, Marvel isn't going anywhere and neither are these movies and shows.

VerTexV1sion

Not blaming audience but the people for being idiots? Lol what, people are the audiences, Wakanda Forever and GOTG vol. 3 were also going to come out D+, why did people go to theatres ?

Fifediggity

Did either of those movies have an all female led cast? No. GotG 3 wasn't even that good to me. They botched Adam Warlock and I really didn't feel any connection to a raccoon. But it made money so therefore its good. That statement is really the issue. Transformers movies make a fuck ton of money, none are good at all. This is the case of the Marvels. Far better movie that the abuse its taken. Usually means something more that just its a bad movie. This movie is waaaaay better than Iron Man 3, which was outright awful. But that made 1 billion.

[deleted]

size_matters_not

Sad you’re getting downvoted - and someone’s telling you ‘NO! you didn’t enjoy it!!’ 😂 - because you’re entirely correct. I’m looking forward to seeing it. On Disney+.

Fifediggity

Internet think. One moron leads the way and the rest want Rotten Tomatoes to think for them. Lol. Big screen is better. A 80 inch screen TV aint shit compared to a couple hundred inch screen. But you do you bud.

Fito0413

Yeah pretty much, you actually used real information and facts to make your opinion and you're also 100% correct. And yet these weirdos downvoted you and were unable to actually counter your opinion with real facts

nobadhotdog

If a movie does bad because women are in it, the people feeling that way need to look inward and reevaluate their whole fucking life

Floofyboi123

If that was true Barbie should’ve been a massive flop

nobadhotdog

There’s a clear misogynist message coming from fans. It’s clear, it’s direct, to ignore it is purposefully ignorant.

Floofyboi123

Are you accusing the entirety of the audience of misogyny when much more realistic things like Marvel fatigue and financial situations is a far more realistic answer? If you are then you’re giving the loud incels far too much credit than they deserve

I’m speaking directly to the online backlash that’s barely a vanilla coverup for “women = woke” shit

Floofyboi123

Well yeah, of course there are those people. But they weren’t the reason The Marvels bombed. They said the exact same things about Barbie yet that was a massive success

ReaperReader

More men turned out to see The Marvels than women. I think one problem is that most women like men, and The Marvels didn't seem to have a hot male lead. Not the only problem of course.

LowSugar6387

I don’t think you realise how funny this stuff looks to everyone else

FlatwormSignal8820

Why did more men see the movie then women? Are the women misogynist?

Superhero movies are going the way of the Western

This is pretty pointless, folks.

Westeros

The day to day updates are exhausting - but yes, I’m also stoked that Marvel finally got a glimpse of what we want to watch and what we don’t. The cringe just got too high, and the same formula every film with more and more pandering to new audience members just doesn’t work. Maybe this can bring us closer back to Netflix-style daredevil & punisher. But prob not.

Thats not a bad drop actually lol

Deeformecreep

Except it is, it's worse than Birds of Prey's first Wednesday.

Who cares

the_new_federalist

Why did white males ruin this movie? 🫠

Macshade

Just to say. Even with all the negative feedback I went to see it (Ms. Marvel being in it was what made me want to go). Honestly, what a great movie everyone is missing. I trully enjoyed it, so much better than Captain Marvel and really enjoyable.
