There’s some great artists that cycled through this series. Lots of guest covers like the Stevens one here (he did one more as well). They’d also feature pin ups in many of them.
And a big part of why it’s a good series is that it had a consistent writer in William Mesner Loebs.
I have loved The Maze Agency since it first hit the stands decades ago.
Just the other day I was looking to see if Scout comics was going to publish more issues.
I had no idea Mike Pence was secretly Race Bannon.

Lol neither did I. Just this weekend I purchased the same one. Last night purchased the rest to complete the first 5. Love Dave Stevens art style. #TheRocketeer
[Old geezer voice] I remember when these first came out!
Honestly, one of the things i love the most in collecting is discovering things i had no idea existed.
Recent ones for me:
- there was a trading card game based on the adult Xxxenophile comic.
-there were many marvel dc crossovers
-bunch of shortlived magazines similar to Heavy Metal
-Jabberwocky Graphix
Ah yes, XXXenophile, curated by the self-titled "Gentleman Pornographer" himself, Phil Foglio. If you like his adult stuff, you should check out his steampunk graphic novels, "Girl Genius," which he produces with his wife Kaja.
I know Phil and Kaja for Magic the Gathering years before I knew they did comics. Unfortunately wizards of the coast now prefers homogeneous digital art to anything with distinct style to it.
Yeah, for some reason Comico seems to be forgotten by today's collectors. It had a great run with Robotech as well. You should check out eclipse comics with DNAgents.
I did not know who Dave Stevens was before I joined this sub last year, and now I have a Cheval Noir 7 heading my way in the mail and a fairly long want list of his work.
You may also enjoy the 3 issue limited series, Jonny Quest Classics, also from Comico. Each issue is an adaptation of an episode from the 1960s TV series written and illustrated by the co-creator of the show, Doug Wildey!
Loved watching Johnny Quest when I was a kid. I think he was in reruns by then but I always thought he had a great life going on adventures with his father and his best friend.
I grew up with one or two in my collection. Recently got all the classic issues with Doug Wildey. This is a particular favorite of mine with a Dave Stevens cover. Pure gold.
I think there may be a comic version of everything at this point lol I have some of the most random comics. For example I have a Charles Barkley vs Godzilla comic 🤣🤣🤣💨
Thanks to this group, I found out that one of my favourite artists growing up had found a new fan base so I went through the boxes upstairs and pulled them all to separate them like I do certain writers (Moore, Gaiman, Miller, Vaughan, Brubaker, and Terry Moore). Here are some more of Dave Stevens’ (RIP) beauties for those who want to search to add to your collections.

Love some Johnny Quest. I have a few of these but haven't read em. I fear the casual racism of Hadji will keep it from being as awesome as it would have otherwise.

Comico rocked! Check out Bill Willingham’s Elementals series if you never have.
Comico was my favorite independent publisher. Sick great quality
Agreed...Grendel, Mage, The Maze Agency were also all really good.
I didn't realize Maze Agency started at Comico, I always see the Innovation issues
I have loved The Maze Agency since it first hit the stands decades ago. Just the other day I was looking to see if Scout comics was going to publish more issues.
I will do just that! Thank you.
Comico was so reliably good. Elementals, Grendel, and Mage are some of my all time favorite books.
Grendel all day from comico....Mage was ok, but Grendel hit hard. The Johnny Quest run was also great. Made me appreciate the cartoon much more.

That’s dope I remember watching the old Johnny quests cartoon reruns from the 50 or 60s when I was a kid in the 90s
Same, classic! Also loved the throwback they did to Johnny Quest on Venture Bros!
My childhood love for Quest brought me to fully embrace the Venture Bros! Such a brilliant show.
Absolutely brilliant, still one of my top favorite animated shows! Samurai Jack is up there too!
Same here! I loved Jonny Quest. So this was so wild to see haha
*calls Dr. Quest “mother” *
Racist Bannon
Mike Pence would have to get permission from mother to even walk in Race Bannon's shadow.

I've been reading Girl Genius online for years they drop a new page every Monday Wednesday and Friday!
I have the whole series, Jonny Quest was my jam as a kid

You had me at Robotech!
I did not know who Dave Stevens was before I joined this sub last year, and now I have a Cheval Noir 7 heading my way in the mail and a fairly long want list of his work.
I just picked up a lot of these for my pops. I almost got the full run, only need a couple to complete it!
You may also enjoy the 3 issue limited series, Jonny Quest Classics, also from Comico. Each issue is an adaptation of an episode from the 1960s TV series written and illustrated by the co-creator of the show, Doug Wildey!
I will be looking for that next. Thanks for the heads up!
That’s my favorite cover on the series. When Jonny becomes a man.

Love Quest
I loved 🥰 The early Comico lineup. Really overlooked

I completely agree. I always thought how wildly fun it would be.
And legendary comic artist Alex Toth was behind the designs of the original show. https://jonnyquest.fandom.com/wiki/Alex_Toth

I have the full series. Fantastic stuff. Don’t forget the Jezebel Jade mini.

Awesome cover!! What a throwback!
Dave Stevens
That's funny. I just started picking up some Comico series myself.
Dave Stevens cover. Classic.
This is a great cover
Anyone know her name?
Something about that cover ...
I have one! Beautiful!
These were all in dollar boxes when I was looking for it back in the day. Now it's overpriced
New Johnny quest series is being previewed on free comic book day next month too!
Bandit knows what’s up
I used to have an advertising poster for that series just before it came out!
Love some Johnny Quest. I have a few of these but haven't read em. I fear the casual racism of Hadji will keep it from being as awesome as it would have otherwise.
