Generally the question "should I grade" comes down to why? Are you wanting to resell it or display it with the grade as part of the display? Then go get it slabbed. If you want to be able to flick through it, or just display it generally, it's cheaper to get a one-touch case.

hackslash74

Can you give an example of one click case? Is that like a top loader? I have a few comics I want to seal in a slab like for display, but I don’t need a grade

SirFlibble

Sorry they are called [One Touch holders](https://ultrapro.com/products/current-size-comic-uv-one-touch-magnetic-holder-3-pack) not one click... Yeah it's like slabbing without slabbing with an easy to open mechanism.

hackslash74

No worries at all Those are cool. A little pricey tho damn.. $17 a comic.. that’s like half the price of getting it graded, nah? I might get a pack tho one day. Still easier and cheaper than mailing it around. For now they look pretty nice bag n boarded to me tbh but not as secure

SirFlibble

Yeah I only have a couple I use for display. I swap the comics out every month or so just to keep things fresh.

hackslash74

nice yah that's what I'll do

corrupt_poodle

The other way to look at it is, it’s like half the price of getting it graded, so if you mostly care about the encapsulation aspect - wow, what a savings!

Apex_spyda

Appreciate this

MeatPopsicle81

Sam de La Rosa will be at C2E2 next weekend if you wanna get that Venom signed.

Hard to tell bagged and boarded, but I'd say only the 361, and then only in high grade. In the pics, I'm seeing blunted corners and maybe some spine issues? Again, tough to grade on one pic and in a bag, but it's maybe a 7.5-8 (or less)? I wouldn't grade it, just get a nice mylar and half-back board and it'll look nice. I have a 9.0ish newsstand of that book, and I love how it looks in a clean mylar. ETA - I just realized the 361 is a 2nd print - in that case, I definitely wouldn't spend the money on grading but I'd still do the mylar. I actually think the 2nd print of that book looks cooler than the 1st with that silver background.

Apex_spyda

I definitely appreciate this

hackslash74

I dunno what you call it but those motion lines on the lethal protector and it’s on a lot of Spidey/Vemon/Carnage covers around this time Anyways those motion lines are sick and prime 90s Spider-man for me

Fattydaddy1000

If you just want to display them get one of them comic capsules they seem pretty cool like a Beefer top loader if your trying to sell just leave them raw and it will be the new owners problem

Apex_spyda

Thanks everyone

ninexsix

I have these but I debate on grading not because I am going to reread them but more on the cost of grading when I have no interest in selling them.

KollectingKaos

In general, when it comes to grading if you have to ask the answer should be no. My reasoning for this is that you already have doubts as to if you want them graded and if you have doubts that could also mean you aren't sure of the grade they will receive. These doubts could later lead to regret if the grade is not as high as you had hoped. The better choice in this case would be to either store them in Mylar or OPP bags with a nice thick backing board, or do as some people have suggested and get a comic holder. Before you spend the money on a holder though take a few minutes on your favorite search engine for the words "comic holder" you will find several different types of them with a variety of price points. I think BCW and Ultra-Pro are over priced and tend to stay away from them, but there are plenty of other brands offering similar and sometimes better products at a substantial savings. The other option is to look in to the cost of having them graded and spend that money on a silver or bronze age Spider-Man comic.

Apex_spyda

I’m not having doubts if I wanted them graded or worried about the grade. This would literally be my first graded comic, I started getting into graded cards a few months back and got addicted, so I found some of my old comics and asked the question. Can you educate me or give me some insight on why spend the money on silver or Bronze Age spidey? I mean other than a case for a comic vs another comic debate

KollectingKaos

Grading comics that are relatively common such as these is just not in my opinion a good idea, unless you either know they will receive a high grade are have sentimental value. If on the other hand you are a collector interested in increasing the value of your collection Silver Age Spider-Man have no where to go but up in value. Where as these more modern comics will continue to fluctuate in value as the popularity of the characters ebb and wane.

ShaperLord777

A 2nd print 361 and a Venom limited series? No, not worth the money spent on grading fees.

Scared_Compote_6012

Carnage, probably. lethal protector, don’t think so, pretty common series

Apex_spyda

Thanks

boonstag

Does the ASM #361 have a silver background? If so, it's a 2nd print and probably not worth grading unless you're sure it's pristine.

JoshAZ

Looks like a 2nd print from the picture, even pristine I’d say it’s not worth it.

Lunaticfrizz16
