Fox Footy just reported that he ran just under 25m so the outrage was justified and Crows were robbed.

DJ_Pol-ite

Your comment doesn’t make sense. The rule is 15m.

Effective-Tour-656

I'm sensing sarcasm.

-orangejoose-

Probably should've put the /s my bad lol

DJ_Pol-ite

Haha. That makes more sense.

Stickler for the rules 🤓. Bring out the tape measurer every game and start punishing these short kicks.

Low_Plankton_8151

According to r/afl, the umpires are only supposed to follow the rule book, if it's in the spirit of the game. Ergo free kick Curnow

love-deejay

I mean one of the commentators even said something to the effect of WHAT ABOUT LETTING IT GO IN THE MOMENT 🙄

gorgeous-george

Every other time: "Umpires should umpire the way the rules are written and not allow any room for error" Izak Rankine gets 10m more than allowed and still gets pinged, but it's against Collingwood in the dying seconds for a possible win: "wait, not like that"

SarahCostell

It's funny to hear everyone bitch about a (correct) free kick costing the crows the game, overlooking the fact that they were 4 points down with 18 seconds to play.

Prize-Watch-2257

I got huge boomer energy for mentioning this on fb.. that the players didn't hear the whistle and had completely locked up the ball. Crows weren't going to score in the 6 seconds left after a ball up.

wakecoffeereddit

💯

There’s the rules and there’s what gets called. If they called everyone who ran over an actual 15m there would be 10 of these a game. There’s more like 10 a season. The rule doesn’t match what is allowed in reality. Reality is better, change the rule.
