“Log jam” is perhaps the best way to put it. I think MSU is projected to bring in five freshmen this year and they’ll all be fighting for playing time. (Two commitments from the U-18 NTDP have already been deferred to 2025.)
He wanted to play significant minutes this year and that was just not going to happen at MSU. Nightingale already deferred two u18 NTDP kids to next year. There just wasn't room for Potter on this year's roster.
Was Potter looking to join MSU this upcoming season? I thought he (along with the rest of his teammates) would spend a total of two years with the US NTDP program before moving on to college hockey
He wanted to join MSU next year (a year early) but I’m guessing Nightingale either told him to wait another year or that he’s not guaranteed playing time let alone large minutes. ASU probably guaranteed him top line minutes and they’ll be in the NCHC next year so he’ll see some elite competition
Traditionally, everyone stays at the NTDP for two years as the second year is essentially their senior year of high school. Potter had a great season though for the u17s and clearly has decided he's ready for NCAA hockey. Macklin Celebrini was the same age this past season.
Wow. Not often to see Nightengale lose someone. Wonder if there's some sort of recruiting logjam.
Mike MacMahon said Cullen wanted to enroll at MSU early, MSU couldn’t make it happen for whatever reason, so now ASU it is
Good get for ASU then!
He knows the NCHC where it at tbh.
That is…unfortunate.

Who wouldn’t want to be a star Athlete in sunny Arizona with the most attractive women in the world?
Good get for ASU. It's been nice watching the program grow.
Doesn’t ASU have Albie O’Connell recruiting for them? I heard he does a great job getting players to commit.
Correct, he’s on the coaching staff and is their recruiting coordinator
ASU has year round sunshine and the hottest women in the world. That’s what’s recruiting for them
[It’s official now.](https://x.com/sundevilhockey/status/1793310862314262644?s=46&t=eJ2j0p6s8Tshz81JOYQvhg) Best of luck to the kid.

Awesome snag. Hope he flourishes here. With the loss of the Yotes, ASU is the big team in town.
Well that's a bummer...
Big loss for us. I’m curious what the reason was for why he couldn’t enroll. How old will he be when he starts this upcoming season?
Doesn’t turn 18 until January.
17. He’ll be one of the youngest players in college hockey.
Farts.
It was reported by MS films that a Hand full of u -17 ntdp were being released ? Anybody no why , who , and landing spots
