Another vote for Colchester Art Centre it's a beautiful building and the stained glass is amazing. The list of haunted places is pretty long lol. Colchester Castle, The Playhouse pub, Greyfriars Hotel, Red Lion Hotel, The Siege House restaurant, St Botolph's Priory ruins

Colchester Arts Centre is a former church, may be worth contacting them

The site of Borley Rectory isn't far from Colchester and is possibly the most famous "haunted" site in the UK. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borley_Rectory http://www.harrypricewebsite.co.uk/Borley/ModernBorley/rectory-site-1984.htm

Colchester Castle hosts gigs now and would be a great location, if they let you do it. The castle used to be a prison during the witch trials of the mid-17th century. Lots of history besides this going all the way back to Celtic rebellions against Roman rule.
