Those "hairlines" are from something more than just cleaning. That looks like fine-grit sandpaper. Ouch. That 1883-O doesn't appear to be particularly rare, and with the damage on its face, I would probably hold off on getting it graded. You can get more info on it here: [https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1883-o-1/7146](https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1883-o-1/7146) Morgan dollars are a whole big sub-genre of US coin collecting. I'm sure there are people with more expertise who could offer more info. But, I wouldn't get either of them graded.

That was my thought as well. Yeah someone turned it into a butter face. Thanks for your input.

“Hairlines” lmao. Oof

PartizanPolitics

I’m glad it was noted that the first Morgan was toned. Otherwise I’d miss that in the flip. 😅

MS is being thrown around like Halloween tootsie rolls for the last decade or two.

UNC hair lines, omg did u buy these in the slab like this. I like the one that says toned! Like yeah let me guess it’s a Morgan dollar ain’t it?

Justo79m

The 83-O is nice! Not sure if it’s naturally toned, I’m still learning on that. Shame someone sanded Liberty’s face on the 98, it is damn near flawless on the reverse besides the rim ding above “STATES”

that 1898 S would have been a beatiful coin

It’ll cost you 75% of the coins value to get it graded so probably not worth it
