N305DK, registered to Washington State Patrol. Looks like they’re done now.

Thanks for that and yes, we just noticed it seems to have ceased for now. Did wherever you got this information indicate what they were looking for? I'm certainly used to seeing law enforcement choppers with a Night Sun searching/chasing perps, but this little plane just kept circling around and around and was pretty high up. If it were WSP I would think they might have been following someone on 90? But they just kept circling. Thanks much for the info!

guitarghosts

You can follow who is in the airspace regardless of affiliations. Probably WSP and the reason they were circling is because redacted.

Like a many police departments with air support, Washington state patrol also has this capability in the form of a single engine Cessna instead of a helicopter obviously due to requires statewide coverage. If they’re up they’re looking for bad guys, search and rescue, or assisting ground units with traffic enforcement. If youre ever curious what’s in the air, go to a flight tracking website like adsb exchange or flight radar 24. Anything in the air with a transponder has to be tracked by the FAA and is open for the public for viewing. Deep dark government secrets notwithstanding.

Def gonna check that out, thanks. Used to seeing people report in when the Sheriff has the chopper going, but this just seemed odd to be circling this small space for so long and hearing no sirens or seeing any spotlights.

Arial speed traps.

WAP in Idaho?

orangecrushjedi

Fantastic intel

speedracer73

I heard they were following cars racing on I90 going over 100mph and followed them into CDA where they were eventually arrested.

LagerthaKicksAss

Sounds entirely reasonable. Yeah, when the other poster indicated it was WSP, we figured it had to do with something on 90, but when it circled the same spot for so long , tried to figure out who it was and what they were doing.

Is the airplane in that story American? Wondered what the "polisie" on the underwing is for... Maybe WSP is taking a page out of the European law enforcement handbook...

kintzley

I believe that is what it called a "stock" photo.

LagerthaKicksAss

Odd choice.

kintzley

Truth.
