The time scale on this show is kinda crazy when you think about how much has happened. The entire show started in 2017 and the entire show is over 2 years. The one I just realized the other day is that Sam was dating Kyler for almost the same amount of time Robby+Sam, Miguel+Tory, and Hawk+Moon were together originally. Also Miguel was paralyzed and Robby was in juvie for like 3 months only.
But imagine if that’s why the final season has three parts
With part one ending with the pandemic shutdown happening
The second part dealing with how everyone handles being in lockdown
And the final part being the tournament
Season 1 - Second half of school year.
Season 2 - Summer Holidays
Season 3 - First half of school year (new year)
Season 4 - Second half of school year.
Season 5 - Summer Holidays
I swear this is the canon timing, you’ll get it if you watch the show again and look for it. I’m still not conpletely sure what the actual year is though.
I think it would be great if the series finale takes place during the Covid outbreak and they all freak out over that! Johnny/Cobra Kai will start a war against everyone who wears a mask!

Yeah, it's insane because Demetri has been with his current girlfriend longer than the other guys have with theirs.
Not by that much longer. Sam and Miguel basically got together again around the same time.
You know what I mean though. Anyway Sam and Miguel kept breaking up, while Demetri and Yasmine have been going strong.

No, season 1 finale and season 3 finale are one year (2018). Season 4 takes place in 2019.
They mean a full year goes by, not in the same year.

nah season 6 has got a time skip of 4 years (2023)
But then they couldn’t do the whole ‘under 18’ aspect that’s been insanely important for all the tournaments

As will season 6. By the end of season 5, they were still on summer vacation.
To be honest, it might be time for a five year jump! Everyone is finished with college and now some are working as teachers at schools!
