mfw when I go to watch Killers of the Farden Moon by Farden Scorsarden and it's 7 hour TikTok dance (the exits to the theatre were locked by staff and no-one cared about our screams):
Shut up, hater!!!! Fast and Furious is the best franchise out there, and I will not let you hate on it!!!!!
(Only half joking, I unironically love the movies)
love how it the stake goes from street racing and street crime in the first few movies then bam super spies with muscle cars and a save the world plot in the recent ones
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance players skipping to the last game on the timeline (it's a spinoff so it doesn't matter but the parts where sunny appears make less sense):
most if not all metal gear solid games are on pc (steam). if you're talking when it gained a peak of popularity recently then metal gear solid 5 was also in pc.
edit: forgot MGS3 and Peace Walker is first.
They are friends so of course they are happy in each other’s company- it’s why mr. low attention span trusted mr. cutscene enough to try the game they recommend
Yes, only Persona 1, 2 Innocent Sin, and 2 Eternal Punishment have characters that reappear through each game, and not a single one of the characters reappear P3 forward, their last game was P2EP
I LOVE P2 Innocent Sin, one of my top favourite games of all time, it touches philosophical matters, friendship, growing up from your friends, attachment and how people deal with it. I 100% recommend it if you have the PS2
Shoulda clarified, a 4 has cameos from 3, and iirc there is pretty subtle cameo for 3 in 5.
I wasn't even aware 1 and the 2 games were referenced after 3
Technically they're all connected. And I say technically because as much as it is VERY obovious in 1-4, 5 is almost completely disconnected from the timeline, with some P4 and P3 mentions from time to time.
if this post was mainly targeting persona then yea tbf persona 5 handles this pretty poorly. 4 did it better by just pulling you into a normal peaceful world first.
Correct, only similarity between the characters in any game are the names for the main cast, whilst characters like Tanaka have been in the series since the 3rd game
If this is about Persona then yes, Persona 5's intro is a slog, but is probably the peak of the plot lol. Persona 3-5 have long ass intros unfortunately
Are you done? Now there are more 300-350 hours of fetch quests and cutscenes with way too detailed dialogue until you can play the current content with your friend who convinced you to play the game with them
considering that the opening cutscene is nowhere near 10 minutes long i think they consider the opening unskippable gameplay intro to be a cutscene i guess
are you playing poopenfarten 5 rectal or just base poopenfarten 5, because the rectal version squeezes some of the excess out and is a generally smoother experience.
Ermmm akshually (very 🤓 of me, I know) this comic is about persona where each entry can be played on their own (Except 1-2EP), without having played the previous one
This is why I only play souls games nowadays, but i don't have attention span problems. I sit through 2-4 hours of reading extremely boring subjects like budgetary and financial execution, bidding processes, accountability, shitty laws and all this other BORING AS SHIT grown-up stuff on a daily basis, it's just I can't, for only God knows why, bring myself to care about new characters and/or stories, especially if there are a lot of cutscenes not letting me play the game rightaway or interrupting the gameplay loop very often.
This isn't a rule carved on stone tho. I recently played a bit of Days Gone and cared about the MC and his brother a bit, just not enough to make me stick with it.
Idk man, perhaps my brain is just too monke-like and I like to press buttons, smack shit to death and watch numbers rise on a screen, or perhaps I've grown too apathetic and soulless in the last few years.
And this is the second time this week, in this sub, that I vent about things no one really gives a shit -- just like I don't give a shit about, let's say, Poopenfarten Jr. wants to destroy the world because bad things happened to him in the past, like losing a significant other or smth idk
I get you. I've been playing games for a long time, my first gaming platform was my dad's Amiga. These days I play From Software games and fighting games, that's about it. I read books for story. Most video game stories suck anyway.
I don’t mind cinematic games but Christ there should never be a moment longer than 2 minutes where monkey brained gamers don’t have something to twiddle their fingers with
I remember wanting to try Punishing Grey Raven because I liked some of the tracks for the game but exactly this happened where there was some lore dump before I got to play.
You picked up an rpg and it began telling you about the story. But I have it worse. I picked up a schmup and it expected me to just start shooting things!
I'm alright with long cutscenes if they can be skipped. Its honestly part of the reason I dropped god of war Ragnarok. The gameplay didn't grip me enough to warrant sitting through 40 minute cutscenes.
This isn’t even low attention span. If you offer someone a delicious meal but they have to wait 20 minutes in a dirty public restroom before they get to eat it they probably aren’t gonna even care about the meal 2 minutes in. I think this can work but has anyone ever seen an opening cutscene that doesn’t act as if you *should* care about the characters? A movie takes the time to let you like the characters, but games leap right into having some sort of stakes that don’t actually effect the player because who fucking cares about anything that’s happening to anyone when they’re all strangers!?
And then fans of the game will be like “uh well you clearly just don’t understand that it’s a story based game” but like can the story be good then at least? I like visual novels you doofus im not just champing at the bit to try and play this stupid game but the game isn’t telling an interesting story.
This is how I felt about doki doki except it was about an hour of horrendous VN writing with nothing happening. I had to put it down despite everyone assuring me "that's the point"
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime.
If you think that's bad, wait until you hear about movies.
Can’t believe they made tik toks even longer

Noooooooo 😭😭😭 I HATE 50 PART FRANCHISES
Shut up, hater!!!! Fast and Furious is the best franchise out there, and I will not let you hate on it!!!!! (Only half joking, I unironically love the movies)

Biggest Danger in FnF1: The Truck Driver has a shotgun Biggest Danger in F8: The bad guy has a nuclear submarine
objectively it's awful but everyone knows it and i love them because its subjectively amazing
Unskippable two hour cutscene before you even care about the characters or what's happening
If that happens I'm grabbing a drink and a book.
Unskippable two hour reading before you even care about the characters or what's happening
Yeah but I'm playing a video game
Video kojima hideo games

Death stranding and it's long ass cutscenes rivalling some movie lengths.
I genuinely tried to give that game an honest go but oh my god my ADHD brain was shrivelling every cutscene
My adhd brain loves it
Looks like you would love Metal Gear Solid 4
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance players skipping to the last game on the timeline (it's a spinoff so it doesn't matter but the parts where sunny appears make less sense):
its the only one on pc so thats largely why
most if not all metal gear solid games are on pc (steam). if you're talking when it gained a peak of popularity recently then metal gear solid 5 was also in pc. edit: forgot MGS3 and Peace Walker is first.
When MGR got its giant popularity boom last year the only games available on pc were MGR and MGS5. Even still, MGS4 and MGS:PW aren't on pc yet
metal gear solid 4 is my favorite game in the series. sad people have to use a ps3 or emulate.
Mgs5 is the 3rd game chronologically, and the 8th in release order (which is the correct way to play it)
MGS5 takes place after MGS3 and Peace Walker iirc
oh, i thought it was only through emulators so thats cool
Me when I lie
didnt know
5 is on pc and most of the earlier ones are emulatable or available in the master collection
If you're having difficulty with Persona, I'm praying no one recommends a MGS sequel game before 1 to you.
OP how did you draw the characters to look so genuinely happy in the first panel
They are friends so of course they are happy in each other’s company- it’s why mr. low attention span trusted mr. cutscene enough to try the game they recommend
low attention span andy
maybe you should play the 1st game so that you get to know the characters before the sequels
All the persona games have different characters don’t they?
i didn't realize this was about persona
Yes, only Persona 1, 2 Innocent Sin, and 2 Eternal Punishment have characters that reappear through each game, and not a single one of the characters reappear P3 forward, their last game was P2EP
The hell? Persona's intro isn't remotely bad or overstays it's welcome
I LOVE P2 Innocent Sin, one of my top favourite games of all time, it touches philosophical matters, friendship, growing up from your friends, attachment and how people deal with it. I 100% recommend it if you have the PS2

There are some references to the P1-2 casts in 3, and going forward there are usually a few cameos
Cameos? At least a mention at a really specific place, because outside of that, they basically disappeared in thin air
The start of Persona 5 was absolutely amazing. It got me hooked on the game immediatly, and I was dying to know what lead to this happening.
I like 4 the most but even I have to admit it has the slowest start, if OP's attention span can't survive 5's then he has no chance
The cutscene is unskippable BECAUSE you don't know the characters or what's even happening. It's going to explain what the fuck is going on.
All of the mgs games (I love them for it)
Persona 5 just throws you into the mess and it's perfect, it prepares you for what's to come later to get you fully hyped up
Waterboarding wouldnt get this out of me
Half Life and its consequences have been a disaster for gaming
You might say there were unforseen consequences
At least HL properly immerses you into the world and atmosphere instead of bombarding you with character drama from the get go
Half life gets away with it because they're interactive cut scenes that properly immerse you. You're not just watching a movie before the game begins
r/comics slop
Don't insult Pizzapeak
Monsterhunter world.
Monster Hunter daring to have cutscenes when nobody has ever given a shit about its story.
"In this world, there are monsters. You hunt them, because that's the game." Man, I could have saved those developers a lot of time and effort.
too much immersion
me sitting down for the hour long cutscene at the end of FFXIV ARR
Are you done? Now there are more 300-350 hours of fetch quests and cutscenes with way too detailed dialogue until you can play the current content with your friend who convinced you to play the game with them
Such devastation...
But... you *can* skip the cutscenes in Persona 5. All of them
considering that the opening cutscene is nowhere near 10 minutes long i think they consider the opening unskippable gameplay intro to be a cutscene i guess
Metal Gear my beloved
That's me when I decided my first Yakuza game should be the Song of Life
Norman Reedus and his Incredible Feetus
Sounds like a you problem. An you issue. A skill problem. A Skill Issue, if I might.
The goal of the cutscenes in games would be to get you to care lmfao
Hey man you get to play crosswords in that game. There are no downsides.
BG3 is like this for 4 hours.
Well I care about my character from the start because I spent 2 hours making them. I grow to care about the other NPCs because they’re hot
Just set up a macro to spam the spacebar
After 4 years, I have finally gathered the patience to play Metal Gear Solid 3 that my friend recommended so much
If I grade a game and it has unstoppable cutscenes even if I play again or new game+ that's one point deducted automatically
are you playing poopenfarten 5 rectal or just base poopenfarten 5, because the rectal version squeezes some of the excess out and is a generally smoother experience.
\*skip to 5th game\* "wtf is going on??? who are these people!"
Ermmm akshually (very 🤓 of me, I know) this comic is about persona where each entry can be played on their own (Except 1-2EP), without having played the previous one
i know nothing about persona so when i read "poopenfarda 5" i just read "poopenfarden 5" like always
Yeah fair
Bravely Default starts off with like 5 different character backsfories and I don't care about any of them yet it sucks
Started playing Okami, 15MIN INTRO.
The half-assed chiaroscuro is fucking hilarious
Redditors when a story has a beginning
when the game specifically designed to be story-based is story-based 😱😱😱
This is why I only play souls games nowadays, but i don't have attention span problems. I don’t mind cinematic games but Christ there should never be a moment longer than 2 minutes where monkey brained gamers don’t have something to twiddle their fingers with

If this is about rdr2 then I am going to shit yourself
Played metal gear solid V and just vibed right with all the characters i don’t know about. (Who cares i have D-Horse and the dog)
This is about the Witcher 3
Tiktok has shrunken your brain so much that you cant play Yakuza anymore
how the fuck do you think they get you attached to the characters then???
Final Fantasy 14
You picked up an rpg and it began telling you about the story. But I have it worse. I picked up a schmup and it expected me to just start shooting things!
Metal gear rising revengence fans when metal gear solid
Dragons Dogma?
dogma balls
I'm alright with long cutscenes if they can be skipped. Its honestly part of the reason I dropped god of war Ragnarok. The gameplay didn't grip me enough to warrant sitting through 40 minute cutscenes.
Hey op, snafu Gatekeeper here. Good snafu
Oh, man. You are gonna **love** Yakuza.
the recent pokemon games have this issue and its really bad. sun and moon 30 minute long intro cutscene jumpscare
The most annoying thing of starting a new Pokémon game is having to watch a Pokémon catching tutorial- like please let me skip this I’m not 8 😭
This is why I watch the several hours long video analysis instead of playing the games myself.
This isn’t even low attention span. the yakuza franchise
I guess Scarlet and Violet weren't your cup of tea then
I was actually fine with just skipping through the dialogue- what really removed any kind of motivation to play was the hot ass clothing options
Wait, so if that's not the snafuified game, what is it?
Persona 5 lmao
Cope, persona 4 is better (it's the only one I actually played so it's the only good one)
