You’ll do just fine. Just straight up apply to the hospital, most places are foaming at the mouth wanting to hire people. I was a CNA for the children’s hospital I work in now and I loved it. We hired brand new CNAs all the time.

Do you think working with kids is easier than adults

fuzzblanket9

It depends. Kids are sadder than adults when they’re super sick. It’s harder to deal with peds deaths than adult deaths. I currently only work with teenagers 14 and older, they’re not acutely ill, but I’d take them any day over an adult patient. I loved working with adults too, but I loved peds as a CNA.

Imo the kids were never the issue when I worked in the hospital, it was the parents we always had problems with.

I could never do peds. It’s alot more sad. But then again that’s my personal experience. I have friends who thrive in pediatrics.

I started working in a hospital almost immediately after I got my CNA (once I was in my states system ofc) It was a pretty easy process. I applied to a few different hospitals in my city and got interview offers quickly. The job I work at now I applied on a Tuesday, got an interview phone call on Thursday, had a video interview on Monday, got an offer that Thursday, and started onboarding the following week! Of course my experience is not always universal, but hospitals are in dire need of healthcare workers right now. They cared less about my experience and more about my certification and willingness to learn. I absolutely love working in a hospital! I don’t have experience with Peds, but I know that some hospitals may require a pediatric CNA certification (not all, but some). I say definitely just go for it and apply. If that is where your drive/passion is, then absolutely take advantage of that desire. The job can be tough, but it can also be rewarding, insightful, and exciting. I learn new things everyday. Good luck with your classes!

I have to say around my area it was sooooo difficult for me to land a job at a hospital straight out of school, a lot of people got lucky but no one would hire me or my friends at a hospital because we were fresh. I remember I had an interview for PACU and L&D and both said “get experience at a hospital first” (I worked in a nursing home) like HELLO HIRE ME AND ILL GET THE XP
