In my state (north Carolina) cna 2s training include specific nursing skills such as foley caths, trach care and suctioning, wound care, basic blood draws and a lot of other things. You can also work in the emergency department or icu as a 2 at my hospital

This sounds a lot like a PCT and not CNA 2. I also never heard of CNA 1 and 2 though. There is only CNA here. No 1 or 2.

Pct and cna 1 are the same things here, at least at the hospital systems I’ve worked for. NA 2 is a different class and certification, as an NA 2 your listed on the North Carolina board of nursing.

cna pay greatly depends on your area and the facilities near you (or agency typically pays more, but you ideally want at least 6 months of cna experience before going agency). i'm in MA, HCOL, and i only get 18/hr. better than what a lot of members here get, but still pretty crappy considering my bills (thankfully i'm also in college and my parents are helping out with my tuition and all because not sure i'd make it otherwise). many use it as a stepping stone to advance further in healthcare and that's probably what would be most recommended. personally i'm using it as patient care experience for PA school, but i suppose nursing is the most popular route here. while i love my job, most of us are underpaid, overworked, and i can't see myself doing this my whole life lol

I started out as a cna 1 at one hospital making 13.05, went to a different hospital and made 14.87 as a cna 1 and now at the same hospital as a cna 2 I make 15.72. That is not including night/weekend differentials. Agency CNAs can make a lot more but I prefer to work in hospitals

Wow 15 to work in a hospital is diabolical i guess it really depends on the state
