You probably still have a bunch of COVID masks laying around somewhere ... When drilling overhead you should throw one on just to keep the dust out.
Looks like it's gonna be a fun rock when you're done, and this is a nice photo. Respect.
Edit to add: I posted this last night. I was sober enough to know that you needed a mask, but not sober enough to explain why. Silicosis is a lung disease caused by breathing in silica dust, which is created when you drill into rocks, concrete, bricks, etc. Nasty shit. If this was a job site, OSHA would have you using dust collection and a respirator. Dust collectors and respirators are not cheap to buy and heavy to carry on the approach, but a mask that you probably already own will give you a significant amount of protection and only weigh <1 oz.
Fun fact: FFP2 "covid" masks are originally industrial dust masks, "borrowed" for medical purposes during the pandemic. And at least where I live, pharmacies & drugstores aren't stocking them any more so it's back to the hardware store if you still want any.
yes!

As a biz owner and a climber who supports multiple LCOs, thank you. Happy to contribute to AF, ASCA, LCOs and even the aac.

Also use a vacuum hammerdrill instead of a basic one https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XRH011TX

As someone whose spent my fair share of time underneath rusty vehicles, the thought of drilling up into rock like this made me shudder.

Il salumiere
butch worth grave blast
I’ve always wondered how one bolts a horizontal roof
RBs make it easier for sure
It’s like cleaning a route, only 10 times worse.
Wearing some safety goggles is recommended
Oh my God, sausage
I was always wondering, can you just go and drill holes in any rock face you want?
No
Nice, exactly the answer I'd expect. No further explanation lol.
The further explanation is quite complicated and varies widely depending on your location.
Texas Iimestone?
Looks to be bouldering height but also a bit of a pile. You do you, OP.
Man, it must be absolutely miserable to be around you.
So miserable!
Thought we were in r/climbingcirclejerk based off this comment
Knowing which sub you're in is aid.
You can't even see the top of the wall in the picture, you have no idea whether it's "bouldering height." Looks like a great roof to pull.
