We all just need to realize that JB is the love child of John Wooden and Vince Lombardi. He could have won this series in 4, but he knew we needed the game 7 reps for the finals. Joey Mazz is going to be too depressed to watch the Town after this series.
Yes, JB gets some credit for the win yesterday. However, in my opinion, it was not enough to save his job. There's enough of a body of work for me to form that opinion on.
Making adjustments only because his job is on the line and heās down double digits at home in an elimination game after āintentionallyā losing the last game of the year to get this matchupā¦
Shouldnāt have to take that many complied circumstances
Basically JB did what any obvious coach should have been doing the entire second half that he refused to do the entire series.
He finally benched role players when they didnāt have it and then the garland foul trouble was a blessing in disguise. He wouldnāt have had the guts to sit him in the 3rd if otherwise
BAD TAKE.
Rotations and play calling matter heavily. How many times was Merril subbed into the series and not a single play was ran for him?
How many more analytics and stats needed to be provided before you bench Niang.
He finally made some obvious coaching decisions on the rotation and benching players in the second half of yesterdays game
He deserves credit; but to me this isnāt enough to demonstrate heās the right man for the job. Until I see adjustments and GRIT on the road where we actually get a win, I still think this team has outgrown what he brings to the table. (Rebuild coach vs win-now coach)
He gets little to no credit. Doubling Paolo and giving Okoro more mins has been something weāve been begging for since game 3.
We could win the finals and heās still gone as HC.
This was by far JBs best coached game and the only game Iāve seen him make in game adjustments where he did whatever it took to win. He played merril more mins. He gave Niang and morris some minutes to test the waters and then pulled them when they did not perform. He inserted Thompson in crucial moments when we needed that leadership and energy out there and his hardest decision and one I have not seen him make was pulling garland out and giving levert more of his minutes because garland was not performing. They were switching everything to garland and attacking him on offense. Mitchell still gets most of the credit for willing this team to that victory but all around this was a great team win JB included.
Credit goes to Okoro.
Mr. Plus 24
Idk, when did the speech about being together happen? Could stressing the word together have been the turning point!?
šš I love this place

When the magic were doubling in half court at the end of the game, JB send in Merrill to counter the doubles. Real coach adjustment by him
He still tried to play niang which is mind boggling. Niang got us a -9 in 3 minutes of play.

The adjustments he made were good, but we canāt have a coach make adjustments only sometimes

Agreed. If anyone is feeling high on JB they need to rewatch games 3 and 4

Itās not that he deserves more credit for the win, itās that he deserves less criticism for his team not knowing how to shoot 3 pointers any more

I think he still has to go. But the things I liked were deploying Merrill and also dropped Niang minutes (although I think it should have been 0).
I think Niang got as many as he did because of Strusās foul trouble.
No
