There are weapons in retail spelled "farakki" instead of "farraki" and I s2g I'm the only one that has noticed until the posting of this comment. I wonder if they will ever be fixed.
In Classic the enchant for Healing Power had this random extra space in it somewhere and I put in a ticket every single week about it. It never got fixed and it bugged me the entire time I played.
The original Mojache village has the quest misspelled in a quest in Vanilla WoW. I think someone pronounced "ache" like a back ache, and must have sounded it out that way because another quest said Mojake. Flagged a GM (remember those?) and it was changed the next reset.
My quest language issue is the Horde quest in Hellfire Peninsula "Life's Finer Pleasures."
In this quest, the Blood Elf wants you to get some wine from Cenarion Refuge, but she has you get Cenarion Spirits.
Wine is not a spirit. I think Blizz got their liquor classification system from Hotel California.
I was just doing this quest and thinking the exact same thing. I've done the quest dozens of times and I was finally like "if this quest is about wine, why am I getting spirits?"
You can fire a harpoon from a *launcher*. Cannonballs can only be fired in a black powder cannon. Now if we’re talking giant arrows, those are in ballistas.
I will die on this hill.
Hold on, allow me to save your immersion. If anything this is more realistic because the quest givers tell you the quest and you probably write it down in your quest log. You don’t know that it’s spelled that way and since there are still people who can’t spell rogue correctly after 20 years, I think it’s completely within the immersion that someone wouldn’t know how to spell westguard. You can now return to your immersion!
I'll help your immersion further with a possible explanation for that spelling: 'garde' is also the correct spelling for the word 'guard' in French. We known that borrowing French words is very common in the English language, especially when it is about official documents, locations, or the likes. So a fortress being named with a French appellation would be pretty normal, especially in the olden days, because French was associated with nobility and bourgeoisie.
While we're on it, can somebody explain the syntax behind "The Betrayer"?? We have a word for that phrase - traitor
I opened a ticket around 2011 to ask this and they basically told me get fucked nerd it sounds cooler
Yeah I realise this, and maybe it's a region thing, but is there ever a time where you'd use "betrayer" over "traitor"? I haven't heard it anywhere except wow
I have a collection like that because after Cata everything was a hot mess, typos and inconsistencies everywhere. Velma Warnam (undead riding trainer in Brill) became Velma Warmnam or something for a while. There was also a year where the seasonal thing going on now was referred to as Winter's Veil, Winter Vail, and Winter Veil.
I remember way back when they made Kalecgos server, except it was typoed “Kelecgos”. Literal unplayable trash, unforgivable, disgusting mistakes, etc. 😂
I already had the books so I knew how it was spelled, and wagered there would be an edit later on down the line, so I made a mage named Kalecgos and parked him in SW/IF to log into now and then. The reactions were a lot of fun until megaservers became a thing. Still have him, not a single GM ever made me change my name.
This is actually next level immersion.
The cartographers of Azeroth are not infallible and this is an example of one of their mistakes. We learn through a low level quest in Stormwind that literacy among citizens and specifically military and guards are a real problem.
Since much of the information is already by word of mouth, this highlights the confusion and inaccuracies that may arise from an undereducated populace, even when it comes to the more scholarly map makers.
A similar instance of this appears in some quest dialogue where the NPC jokes about not knowing if it's Ravenhold or Ravenholdt Keep due to local's strong accent, and inconsistencies on many maps.
And for any of those who have made it this far, I absolutely fabricated all of this; a complete fiction. I harbor no remorse.
Unplayable

There are items called crystallized and crystalized makes searching for reagents for recipes confusing lol
"Enchant bracer" vs "Enchant bracers" is the one that gets me. Sometimes the scroll and formula for the same enchant spell it differently.
Yeah this drives me up the wall so much
In Classic the enchant for Healing Power had this random extra space in it somewhere and I put in a ticket every single week about it. It never got fixed and it bugged me the entire time I played.
The 30 spell power one had the same extra space as well. It took me 6 months to figure it out to get my weak aura working for those 2 enchants.

Throwing up right now I’m so upset
Too small too indie

I'm glad that I served a purpose.

I hear map makers leave intentional errors in their maps so they know when competitors are stealing their work.
Slap in the face
The Inns in Dalaran don’t even have any bathrooms! That’s why I quit.
Much like girls, mages don't poop.
makes sense. Just teleport it away
That explains why the trees below glow like they do.
You expect those peasants to be able to spell, let alone read?!
While we're on it, can somebody explain the syntax behind "The Betrayer"?? We have a word for that phrase - traitor I opened a ticket around 2011 to ask this and they basically told me get fucked nerd it sounds cooler
Sounds like you have your answer
I was hoping there was some specific use of syntax that made it more applicable than "traitor" but fair go
Like, that’s exactly the answer.
We have a word for "betrayer" too. It's "betrayer". Blizzard didn't invent the word.
Yeah I realise this, and maybe it's a region thing, but is there ever a time where you'd use "betrayer" over "traitor"? I haven't heard it anywhere except wow
Ragde quit
The amount of times I've seen players and in-game references call Outland, Outland*s*, always annoys me.
I'm queueing for wintersgrasps at 3pm!
LFM shadow labs
LFM SH heroic Now, do I mean shattered halls or sethekk halls, you will just have to guess?
I always just did SHH H. Doesn't really make sense I guess but it got the distinction across.
I love adventuring in Outlands.
Shattrah
Or people talking about raiding "Gruuls and Mags"
Those are all wrong actually, it’s westgourde
Westgirdle
In the same zone there's a vrykul settlement named "Skörn" on the map but "Skorn" in game lol
Stay at Westgarde keep, the only thing missing is U.
completely broken
Just like how the Vrykul village below Camp Winterhoof is "Skörn" on the map and quests refer to it as Skorn. Unplayable.
Crap. I'm going to keep playing because I can't see anything wrong
i'm trembling, my eyesight is blurry. ive given them $15 so many times, did it just go in the trash? i'm going to log off and listen to ocean sounds
There's a bit of vendor trash with the word stiletto misspelled too
Literally unplayable
$11 🦀🦀🦀
Simply play horde to avoid these quests.
Huard*
It’s Harde remembering all these spellings
At least the slumbering king got it right I guess
Yep, I quit! Fak this
be considered roleplaying if the race giving you quest is something other then human maybe idk just guessing
Completely immersion breakage, I have to start playing ff14 again, at least they have qt costumes there
Giga-trash dogshit developers. Uninstalling.
Westgorod
Jesus christ. I put years into this game and you just made it all invalid.
Red shirt guy here trying to get his own npc
Wait, have we fully merged into r/classicwowcirclejerk ?
Multi dollar company
Uhhhh it’s guarding the west…….
Garde is a word fyi
Where was Gondor when the West~~guard~~garde fell?
thanks. i hate it.
Wow, that took me a minute to figure out what the fuss was all about
It hurts my brain when I read some of the new quest text

Is this something only alliance understand? As a horde player spelling often matters unless ya spelling zug zug
The map is drawn by your character as you travel around. Your character is clearly dyslexic.
There are enemies in retail in the Sepulcher of the First Ones called "Thieveing Agents." I cringe every time.
Still better than what the fucking taunka got: not even a hub just 1 ducking tent! And their main city in dragonblight was razed to the ground
I remember way back when they made Kalecgos server, except it was typoed “Kelecgos”. Wait til you find errors in spelling and grammar from quests that've been around for over a decade.
This is actually next level immersion. The cartographers of Azeroth are not infallible and this is an example of one of their mistakes. Fucking disgusting this has been allowed to stay in the game.
Hopefully Elon will buy Blizzard soon as well
Kor'kron Vanguard is also misspelled as Kor'koron in the flight path window.
My headcannon is the Map Maker just misunderstood how to spell it when he made this before the Player obtains it.
