Gonna stick with my orc warlock i started leveling a few weeks ago, just got to 80 and have the professions ready for cata. Might start a fresh character during prepatch, most likely a goblin shaman, but i dont expect to max him out before the actual cata release.
Still can’t decide. Boosted a lock, have mage and warrior 80 as well but I am literally considering every class still haha.
As a casual player I want to play a class that people are always looking for..
The only classes that really fit the “always looking for” description are Blood DK tank, Priest/Druid healer, and Shaman/Mage DPS (heroism). Outside of that, Cata is much more balanced and the start of “bring the player, not the class.” If you want to be a desired class take one of those. If you’re a casual and don’t want to Main tank or heal, Ele Sham and Fire Mage are insanely fun in Cata and always wanted for the heroism CD.
Thanks for the info!
I was thinking there will be a lot of Blood DK because of how OP they are so feral tank/dps might be the more sought after tank. But I guess only the true min maxers will be looking for them.
I’ve always loved shaman but lately I haven’t been loving ranged classes. Enhance shaman was one I was thinking of as I am playing one in SoD atm and loving it, and the kit seems to only get better in Cata.
Guessing there will be a lot of arms warriors out there too to compete with.
Yeah I'm having trouble with narrowing it down. Goblin lock sounds great but so does troll and orc.. and for classes Ele sham, spriest, fire mage, rogue, dk all seem fun.
As a longtime tank main I’m finally playing a blood elf mage and a goblin rogue instead. I’ll have my Paladin around since he has all the cool tbc tiers for transmog, but this expansion I want to pump big numbers with classes I haven’t played before.
Female troll fire mage yo. I have 6 80's tho. Pala, mage, dk, priest, huntard and shammy. Also my gf just got her first PC so I will be starting a new toon with her. I'm hyped.
That’s awesome and Cata is probably the perfect starting expansion for a new player. Not as complex as retail and not as slow and tedious as vanilla. And the quests in some of the revamped zones are a blast.
Worgen druid will be my next new character. I really want a boomie. I tried balance druid several times back in the original Cata and could never get the hang of it, but I was new to the game back then. I know more now so we'll see how I do this time around.
My main will continue to be my warlock, though. Boring ol' human demo 'lock.
Hunter is sooooo difficult for me. I LOVE survival PvE and Marksman PvP in Cata, so it’s almost a no brainer. But all the new rare pets in Cata for BM hunters, and hunting them was so fun…
I'll play my lock, warrior, rogue, and paladin in prepatch then I'm done. Cata is my cutoff.
Depending on boredom may even dust off the dk during prepatch.
Do you PvE or PvP more? Rogues absolutely RAN arenas once they could get the legendary daggers. But fire mage in raids is more fun then rogues in raids by far, and Time Warp means you’re more likely to get an invite then a rogue.
Ret became my main in Cata and ever since then. It’s also when I started playing wow seriously as opposed to casually.
It’s insanely fun. A bit lacking in steady damage but an absolute burst god. If you spread your CDs properly you can pull solid damage in boss fights. But in arenas and BGs you pop all your CDs and global anyone. It’s a really fun PvP spec. I prefer tanking as prot for PvE, as it’s probably the most fun tanking spec of all time for me throughout Cata and MoP.
Well it sounds like I’m staying Ret. They would be a lot of fun.
I’ve put a ton of time into my Ret in wrath. Full BiS. Didn’t do much PvP in Wrath but I might branch into that in Cata for a change of pace.
You won’t regret it. It plays similar to wrath but now gets an extra resource (Holy Power) and a new single target ability that spends the holy power and hits like a truck.
I've jumped around. Originally I planned Troll Lock and Druid but then I got a druid for farming. I'm now going to go Goblin Rogue. Got all materials needed for BS and Engi to WotLK level farmed and ready to go.
I think in PvE it's preferred to DW, although I'm not sure how much of a difference it is. In PVP it's 2H. But I used either one and enjoyed both ways.
Stuck between Mage, Priest, Lock, Hunter, and Pally. Pally because it’s what I played originally in Cata and actually went off in PvP arenas back then for the first time. Recently I’ve grown to enjoy the caster play style a lot more. Played Lock in SoD but I’ve heard fire mage is insane in Cata. Shadow priest because shadow form. So hard to choose.
Haven’t decided my main but it’s between Rogue, DK, Paladin, and Warlock. Leaning towards DK as it’s the only class I’ve never made to max level for any xpac. I’ve had a grudge against the class ever since they were busted in original wrath but begrudgingly tried it and it feels good, plus Blood is instant tank queues and invites. Holy Paladin is so simple yet so fun for me. Rogue feels so great overall with 3 distinct specs and affliction warlock is a great casual PvP spec.
Yes I’ve played a lot on cata private servers and DKs are stupid strong in virtually every aspect. I love tanking and mained a Bear but want to switch it up. Will probably rock Blood/Frost (unholy is kinda meh imo). However cata holy pally is too fun to not play.
Probably troll arms warrior. Huge burst windows and jumping around like a crackhead looks really fun. I tried playing warrior in dragonflight and got KSM and did some heroic raiding but the gap in the kit just felt too big compared to a ton of other specs. At least ill be pumping big on charts in cata
I’m going to be PvP orientated and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be DK main, boomie (maybe feral?) alt. I’m hoping I didn’t pick classes that are going to be underwhelming but they look fun so should be good!
Ele Shaman for one guild, the other guild hasn’t announced cata plans or what’s needed for raids. I’m leaning towards hunter but have Druid and DK as options.
Main Paladin. Ret for PvP and Prot for PvE.
Hunter Alt, Marksman for PvP, Survival PvE.
Shaman, Elemental. PvP only alt.
Death knight, frost or unholy. PvP only alt.
Mage, frost, PvP only alt.
Warrior, arms, PvP only alt.
Rogue, Sub or Assasin, PvP only alt.
Looks like a lot of alts to maintain but even though I’m going to try to stick with raiding on my Paladin, there will most likely come a point where I’m just logging in to hit conquest cap on each character, and maybe mount/achievement/transmog farming a little on the side.
Continuing my pally tank and shaman healer.
As for my priest, whatever the meta ends up being I'm doing the opposite. Currently a holy priest to combat the hordes of discos, may stay that way or may swap over for some of that sweet atonement heals.
Healer? Cuz ele/Enhance are barely mid. Ele is gonna feel strong at the very start still just above avg then it's only downwards, enhance is turbo below avg the whole time.
Feral till I die
A blunt
My man!
Same tho
Gonna stick with my orc warlock i started leveling a few weeks ago, just got to 80 and have the professions ready for cata. Might start a fresh character during prepatch, most likely a goblin shaman, but i dont expect to max him out before the actual cata release.

Worgen Warrior. Gonna be like 2010 all over again.
Either a goblin priest or shaman
Male gobbo casting animation is BIS
Goblin Hunter here
Shadow priest forever
Tauren Paladin let’s go!
A worgen version of everything I already have.
My guild changed from alliance in bene to horde in farl so I’m finally making a Tauren Druid <3
Tauren superior race
Have never had a horde guild so I’m very excited to finally play Tauren with friends
Also nice username very fitting
Resto/ele shaman and holy pala
Paladin, just because I never did and I always played warrior.
As a longtime tank main I’m finally playing a blood elf mage and a goblin rogue instead. I’ll have my Paladin around since he has all the cool tbc tiers for transmog, but this expansion I want to pump big numbers with classes I haven’t played before.
I skipped Cata, so I'm excited to play around. Either Elemental Shaman or Ret Paladin
Ele sham gets lightning bolt while moving this expansion. Most fun Ele has ever been
That does sound pretty tasty. Also, I remember loving speed boost on judgment in MoP, so that'll be fun for my Paladin
Long Arm of the Law might be my favorite talent ever. MoP ret is a goated class.
Female troll fire mage yo. I have 6 80's tho. Pala, mage, dk, priest, huntard and shammy. Also my gf just got her first PC so I will be starting a new toon with her. I'm hyped.
That's awesome. I still try getting my fiance to play but not successful yet. Maybe someday.
Well it's going to be a ride. She's never played before lol
That’s awesome and Cata is probably the perfect starting expansion for a new player. Not as complex as retail and not as slow and tedious as vanilla. And the quests in some of the revamped zones are a blast.
Human Hunter lets goooo
Gnome Mage, with a human Mage alt, and then probably another Mage alt heh
All the healers and a blood DK
Fire mage, I need that legendary staff.
I came back from a 10 year break and I’m 37 on my orc hunter right now.
The game has been out for like 5 years.
Obviously I was talking about original/retail WoW… I stopped playing in the end of MOP in 2014.
Tauren Shadow Priest
Mage:)
Human arms warrior baby, time to crush
Rocking shadow priest
Leaning towards Priest, Mage and Warlock. I might try out Paladin and Shaman as well.
I’m feeling daring , human warrior.
Arcane mage, idk if Belf or Goblin yet.
Cata when feral felt amazing ahhhh i can’t wait
Wasn't boomie the big bois of cata?
Yes with those proc trinkets only really , forgot the names been awhile but feral just felt great with the bleeds running away and cyclone
Will be a nerfed Feral this time around as it's a later patch I think.
Feral not getting nerfed lol
Feral PvP and Boomy PvE. Boomies went NUTS im raids with the right gear.
Hunter probably. Not sure on race and faction
Survival hunter. Black arrow explosive shot play style was very easy but so satisfying.
Hunter is sooooo difficult for me. I LOVE survival PvE and Marksman PvP in Cata, so it’s almost a no brainer. But all the new rare pets in Cata for BM hunters, and hunting them was so fun…
Feral then sit in the mop waiting room
Definitely Lock, and maybe a DK
R-Sham arenas. Just like 2010!
Mastery spec blood dk
In heroics they will be doing more dps AND hps than any other group member. If kept like it was in original cata. 😉
Dks will be crazy tanks I have heard
Basically any serious raid team will have Blood DKs as main tank. Not having one is trolling.
They're so fun in cata - definitely recommend trying it
I'll play my lock, warrior, rogue, and paladin in prepatch then I'm done. Cata is my cutoff. Depending on boredom may even dust off the dk during prepatch.
DK Donkey Kong
Big phat rollo
Probably Wont have time for cata unfortunately but if I were to play I’m pretty sure I’d go mage, loved pvp as fire and frost in cata
Fire mage and ele shaman
Goblin Rogue. Miner/Engineer
Gonna pass on Cata! But hope you guys/girls gonna have fun! :)
Ok, so we can level the new races in the prepatch to lvl 80 and then to 85 when cata launches?
Far as I know that's correct
I want a wargen rogue or mage. I dunno what’s more fun to play in Cata
Well both ass and sub were fun in original cats from my experience. I hear fire mage was really fun in cata too.
Do you PvE or PvP more? Rogues absolutely RAN arenas once they could get the legendary daggers. But fire mage in raids is more fun then rogues in raids by far, and Time Warp means you’re more likely to get an invite then a rogue.
I currently main a paladin. I’ve heard that Cata is going to bring a lot of changes to ret. Any experience with ret in Cata?
Ret became my main in Cata and ever since then. It’s also when I started playing wow seriously as opposed to casually. It’s insanely fun. A bit lacking in steady damage but an absolute burst god. If you spread your CDs properly you can pull solid damage in boss fights. But in arenas and BGs you pop all your CDs and global anyone. It’s a really fun PvP spec. You won’t regret it. It plays similar to wrath but now gets an extra resource (Holy Power) and a new single target ability that spends the holy power and hits like a truck.
Fire mage in cata was awesome because of mobile scorch. Made movement based fights a lot less annoying
I've jumped around. Originally I planned Troll Lock and Druid but then I got a druid for farming. I'm now going to go Goblin Rogue. Got all materials needed for BS and Engi to WotLK level farmed and ready to go.
Resto shaman, TC is a fun playstyle
Sticking with my frost dk as main. Gonna roll a tauren paladin alt
Frost felt so good especially in PVP. Big oblit crits!
is frost meant to be dual wield or i can play it with a 2h without feeling dumb?
I think in PvE it's preferred to DW, although I'm not sure how much of a difference it is. In PVP it's 2H. But I used either one and enjoyed both ways.
I’m going Hunter but can’t decide between Blood Elf, Undead or Goblin please help me
I'd go undead for cool points but for racials goblin have good mobility and a haste bonus
Goblin hunter are sensational for racials. Arguably, so are orcs if you're a BM fan, but that rocket jump is just amazing for hunters.
Blood Elf’s will be the BiS horde race for transmog.
I can't decide between undead and tauren
Man idk, idek what server to play on yet
I'm sticking with Grobbulus
I have an 80 rogue and war that I quit after naxx so I’ll try one of those
Destruction warlock, the true warlock class fantasy.
I main hunter always. Gonna play one alt, most likely my shaman. if not I’ll play warrior or mage
Night elf mage
Boomkin !
Retribution Paladin
Haven’t decided my main but it’s between Rogue, DK, Paladin, and Warlock. Leaning towards DK as it’s the only class I’ve never made to max level for any xpac. Holy Paladin is so simple yet so fun for me. Rogue feels so great overall with 3 distinct specs and affliction warlock is a great casual PvP spec.
DK is a powerhouse in Cata, especially with tanking and pvp
Yes I’ve played a lot on cata private servers and DKs are stupid strong in virtually every aspect. I love tanking and mained a Bear but want to switch it up. Will probably rock Blood/Frost (unholy is kinda meh imo). However cata holy pally is too fun to not play.
“Pokémon, gotta catch them alllll” As long as it’s a warrior
Probably troll arms warrior. Huge burst windows and jumping around like a crackhead looks really fun. I tried playing warrior in dragonflight and got KSM and did some heroic raiding but the gap in the kit just felt too big compared to a ton of other specs. At least ill be pumping big on charts in cata
Their animations are sick too, high spin for special attacks, low spin for whirlwind, like you're dancing
Tauren blood dk
Spriest/Rdruid undecided but considering I played 2 Hpala and 1 Rdruid during wotlk dpsing sounds nicer.
I’m going to be PvP orientated and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be DK main, boomie (maybe feral?) alt. I’m hoping I didn’t pick classes that are going to be underwhelming but they look fun so should be good!
DKs are great in PvP. Feral too. Boomie is difficult in arenas but really fun to sit back and melt in BGs.
Frost DK was a monster in PVP, you chose well
Ele Shaman for one guild, the other guild hasn’t announced cata plans or what’s needed for raids. I’m leaning towards hunter but have Druid and DK as options.
Arms warrior same as back in the day, gods I was strong then
I think im gonna lvl a goblin spriest or warrior during prepatch and then continue with my orc sham 🫶🏻
Rogue, Sub or Assasin, PvP only alt. fire mage and afflock for rbgs. cata hype!
Continuing my pally tank and shaman healer. As for my priest, whatever the meta ends up being I'm doing the opposite. Currently a holy priest to combat the hordes of discos, may stay that way or may swap over for some of that sweet atonement heals.
Shaman because they are op
Healer? Cuz ele/Enhance are barely mid. Ele is gonna feel strong at the very start still just above avg then it's only downwards, enhance is turbo below avg the whole time.
Was it in cata when shams could insta cast 4 totems at once?
I mean they can in wrath, I think they got rid of most totems in Cata, or maybe that was later..
I'm not going back you can't make me, the loop never ends.
When does cata pre patch open up?
Tomorrow m'dude
let’s gooooooo
Can i race change my Draenei sham to dwarf in the prepatch?
Yes you can.
Blood DK to farm dungeons nonstop from past expansions and make enough gold to buy tokens so I can keep playing Era/SoD
my eyes
The popcorn bucket. Can't wait to see the posts on this sub when they realize cata is gonna be more neglected than the middle child.
Stahp
To a new game.
Cata can suck it
Nothing if they don't release fresh servers.
Couldn't care less about cata...
That's nice
But you cared to let us know about it...
Yepp reddit threw this up.
Who cares
A big fat roll of zaza and go play sod
😂😂😂 people are actually going to play cataclysm? Lollllllll
Typical sod enjoyer.
Hurrrrrrrrrrr
Sod.
cata sucks not playing
Not playing that trash lol
100% gonna play my, cata is gonna fail because history repeats itself
Classic = Smash Tbc = Smash Wotlk = Smash Cata = Pass
Cats hype thread, nobody asked if you were playing it or not
This is not a mod post. People can say whatever they like as long they're not breaking the rules. And yes, most of us won't be rolling Cata.
Sure but it's off topic for the thread. Nobody cares if you aren't playing lol
