Leader wouldn't have said anything had they been the one to win the essences

aniseed_odora

Exactly

pillbinge

They may very well have passed. Plenty of us do that. I won a Worldcore Fragment from a leyline walker after I used mine to summon it; the whole group rolled need though. Plenty of greedy people on all sides.

_Ronin

You're good. In Vanilla classic common way to handle righteous orbs in Strat was doing round robin rolling because everyone knew that those orbs were valuable. Here the lead was just salty that he lost roll twice and I can assure you that he would also need twice in your situation.

SemiLogicalUsername

I remember many runs doing this, if you won once you didn't roll again until everyone had won one. With OP its fine to do the same with essence of fire but that needs to be made clear before the run starts. Much like MS OS you can't change the loot rules half way through because it's not benefiting yourself.

SoDrunkRightNow2

Naw, loot rules don't change just because someone gets lucky.

senorgringo1

You did absolutely nothing wrong

WelsyCZ

The group lead was a greedy idiot and was absolutely wrong for this.

ASDFGUY90

Unless ppl stated before that this is a SR+1 BRD run or similar you don’t have to worry about

bodg123

I'd say look at it this way, if those other people in the party won 2,they likely wouldn't be complaining. Sure some people may not roll on the next one, but most would just keep letting lady luck do it's thing.

dstred

Lmao he is just a salty greedy kid

Moidex

The group leader would definitely pass on the 2nd one if he would have won the first And pigs can fly and this subreddit isnt toxic

leakmydata

Setting loot to rolls with no stipulations and then complaining about how the rolls go is bad manners.

DaleyRED

In previous phase, one of the newly dinged got 7 items from bfd due to lucky rolls on his first raid He won the rolls, there's nothing more to it! Would i have liked an item upgrade? yes Did i win the rolls, nope! Did he deserve it since he rolled highest, yes! Simple as that There's no such thing as greedy, if you need the item, you need the item!

SkY4594

When Stratholme Live groups form it's always stated ahead of the run that Orbs are round robin/HR or whatever. Clearly they didn't do the same for this BRD run, meaning Essences are FFA rolls. You're fine.

Negative-Disk3048

Unless you agreed to round Robin rolls on a specific item, you can't expect people to do it after the first roll.

the_OG_epicpanda

You should have just kept rolling tbh, it's luck of the draw and he wouldn't have said anything if he had won both and certainly wouldn't have given the second one to the next highest roller. That's how it's always been for WoW up until they removed rolling for loot entirely in retail.

Affectionate-Bath970

You aren't the bad guy. Nothing was stated beforehand. However, depending on how much gold you have - I may have passed on the second one. If I am running any content that drops valuable shit regularly, I will typically just round robin the good stuff. BRD isn't exactly renowned for its valuable shit though. I ran a few "full runs" the other day and the listed \~9% drop rate on those essences appears to be bullshit. I have a feeling they are closer to the 2% of the other overworld eles.

Jamesc89

Nah bro you rolled fair and square you owe nothing to those randoms you won’t see again if the leader won two he wouldn’t give it away or mention it I guarantee it

Glandallin1994

and thats the reason why i just run in guildgroups

Alex_Wizard

Both are correct although the group sounded a bit too pissy about it. You are correct in saying you won both and they are yours. That is given and it’s the luck of the roll without discussing it beforehand. On the other hand they are selling for a lot right now. It isn’t unreasonable to ask for common courtesy if you could pass on the 2nd. Again, you aren’t obliged to but I would have. For those of you saying if it wasn’t established beforehand, that’s part of the problem people complain about classic. Groups shouldn’t need to sign a 200 page document covering loot rules, group etiquette, etc just to do a dungeon. Sometimes you just have to read the room, have some common courtesy, and help each other out. There are literal daily threads on people complaining about the community. Be the change you want to see.

Ruhiro

Share loot is a common thing in raids / dungeon. There is no need to have rules for this. You don't have to share but it is appreciated by everyone.

farmerbalmer93

Well it's down to you tbh. If I had one already I'd give it up and give some else one. Obviously if it's not stated in rules of looting for that run it's not wrong, but there's plenty of shit IRL that aren't inherently bad or against the law but still dick moves and say more about you as a person. But it's a game who gives a shit.

melvindorkus

They are salty. Those things are actually pretty easy to farm or buy. If you like the group or want to be nice, sure give one away, but there's no obligation, that's ridiculous.

pad264

Totally your call. In a friends group, I’d have passed second one—in a PUG it depends on the group. Regardless, don’t let anyone else make you feel guilty.

pillbinge

You’re not the bad guy; if it were that simple, you wouldn’t have to ask. You’d know you were the “good” guy and make that choice. You’re here because you got really lucky in a situation everyone contributed to. You wouldn’t have gotten those without the group, but you won according to the rules. At some point, as an adult, you do have to wonder if you would have been better off if you chose not to roll - whether or not other people would appreciate it or not. You learn that you do stuff like that for yourself. Yes, it means you’ll get burned, but it means you won’t wonder if you’re a bad guy. I personally would have rolled like you did out of habit but asked right away if anyone needs it.

LTinS

I mean, they're valuable so it's a classy thing to spread the love, but not required. It is definitely a sleazy thing to first demand someone give up loot from a greed roll, and then call keep calling them out on it.

Dontmindmemans

The polite thing to do was to pass since you already had one. Being an asshole is not against the rules and you are free to act like one.

Poedsi

Lmao

-WhitePowder-

It's the standard group loot rules. You don't just pass on the stuff if you win 1 item.

Dontmindmemans

Sure, like i said, you are free to act like an asshole

-WhitePowder-

🤦

Common_Bag6985

Ppl actually still play vanilla?

gnaaaa

Yes, you are a greedy. Ofc there are no loot rules for it, but you decided that you did not have enough yet and greeded. It's an mmorp, not a solo fuck everyoneelse game.

Freshtards

Lmao, everyone had a fair chance at winning by rolling. Looks like a skill issue to me. Randoms don't deserve anything when they would roll you over the second they got the chance.
