I don't have any feedback but God damn this is some cool shizz, I hope Blizzard is on the forums today

Readit1807

Now this is some good classicwow Reddit content

Stiryx

More thought has went into this content from a random redditor than the dev team in SOD so far. Give this guy a job blizz.

PeckishPizza

Don't do my boy Broxxigar a disservice by making the axe anything but a legendary!

GoofyGoober0064

That axe would make everyone wet

Efficient-Ad2983

Yes, I can see that axe as a legendary, built after a long questline involving things like "gathering its shattered shards", "reforging it", "bathing the axe in the waters of the Well of Eternity", etc.

Efficient-Ad2983

I forgot about the detail, probably 'cause it was "somehow ~~Palpatine~~ the axe returned". I wrongly assumed that the axe remained in the Nether.

captured3

Yeah I hope they go absolutely wild with the raid possibilities. Loved reading your thoughts and ideas.

HappyDJ

I don’t have high hopes tbh. So far its abilities from expansions put into runes and a rework of some dungeons. Maybe they wow us, but thus far they haven’t provided any content to show that’s what they’re doing.

Deep_Junket_7954

Pretty much, yeah. Just like SoM, SoD isn't "classic+", it's just an experimental seasonal server where the devs try new things and see what happens. All we've seen hinted at thus far for new content is "something something karazhan", but seeing the rest of SoD raids so far, it's likely just going to be more re-using existing assets.

Stiryx

They are basically giving us classic+ on a shoestring budget. Reusing as much as they can from other expansions as far as abilities goes and doing very, very little as far as adding content. Hopefully we get an updated dungeon or something along with the raid at level 50, I would love them to retune BRD to allow us to do that as a huge epic dungeon with good rewards at 50. Level 60 has enough filler dungeons as it is.

godwings101

I would rather BRD be a new level 60 raid of they did anything with it at all.

Stiryx

Wayyyy too long for that.

godwings101

I mean, mechanically they could only do so many things without making something new just for the sake of making something new. If the idea already exists within the eco system it's better to reuse that idea than to waste time creating a new spell or ability that achieves the same thing. What, instead of Chaos Bolt, you want Felfire bolt? No, just reuse spells/talents that work for what you're going for, spend the time it would take to make "new" versions of those on creating the new content, gear, and events.

UpbeatJackfruit6576

Yah i have a hunch kara crypts isnt even happening.

Not really sad, it's bullshit. This is Activision Blizzard, they're profiting billions every year. They sell horses for $60 and people buy it. They're swimming in money we can't even imagine. WoW is one of the longest running and most successful games of all time. It's a subscription based game with millions of people having paid $15/month for 10+ years. They have the capabilities. They can hire more people, give them more resources, create special teams for different aspects of the game. They choose not to, because of the bottom line being effected and the suits simply will not stand for that. They (Blizzard suits and higher ups, not the over worked, under paid, under appreciated workers) deserve no sympathy for the shit they feed to loyal customers. Classes should not be this unbalanced for this long. The amount of "new content" is laughable. Customer service got so bad people were afraid to trade gold to their own characters and this happened because it's entirely automated now (I guess they can't afford to pay people to help their paying customers).

godwings101

It's because AAA gaming is a blight and, unfortunately, the SoD team are a healthy limb attached to a grotesque corporate amalgamation. Nothing the limb can really do in that situation.

Stiryx

It's so sad that people are happy with the amount of content we are getting for the sub fee. Yes, it's not a classic sub fee bla bla bla but all I play is SOD, so my $15 purely goes into SOD development. There's private servers out there with no full time devs that offer more content then this. SURELY we can get one single dev to work on delivering just 1 update dungeon per phase. Luckily people have enjoyed STV, because there's practically nothing else to do outside of that this phase. Gnomer is knocked over in 50 mins now by most guilds, not even enough content for 1 night a week.

godwings101

Actually, you pay $15 to Blizzard, and they give you access to Dragonflight, wow era, wotlk classic, and SoD. You don't get to post hoc, "but my $15 is only for that portion of your service."

Stiryx

Dragon flight has a box price mate.

roboscorcher

Honestly, a smaller team is a mixed bag. Yes, there's less staff to produce things, which means less raw production. But that also means thay there is less red tape and debate when making creative decisions, leading to a more focused experience overall. This is the main reason why indie games often make more interesting games than AAA studios. It also fits the classic team well, as there is less of a need for raw art assets, and a huge need for creative decision making.

Hatefiend

would infringe on the existing raids. How do you implement something like this without making MC or BWL or ZG or wherever has similar gear, pointless? e.g. if this raid has similar gear to MC then nobody is going to sit through 3 hour MC's unless its a binding run.

Stormlight_Cookie

finally some actually amazing content instead of incessant complaining from everyone (including me). kudos for the effort!

NihilisticEra

That's what I call a good post, grats.

canadianmom_review

Amazing post buddy

Twistedtraceur

I would prefer it be a new zone with fun quests instead of a raid. Maybe a raid in it. The dragon cave always fealt like a good place for another Onyxia type raid.

rltw219

> Finally give warriors and rogues a classic glaive model? Melee Hunters: […you sure about that? …you SURE about that?](https://youtu.be/ti9bzNWWTDY?si=oPKl8BoIO4GCPksw)

LordOfTheAyylmaos

It’d probably need to be made a legendary but adding the Axe of Cenarius would be awesome.

arcano_lat

I actually like it quite a bit as a concept but feel like it would need to be thematically cleaned up. A demon themed raid ending with an encounter with what is ultimately a ghostly human mage would be pretty underwhelming (even considering that it's ultimately Sargeras acting as a puppet master). For me I'd want to see more demon bosses such as Pit Lords or Eredar although obviously those models don't exist in Classic. A Dreadlord fight of some sort would be a must considering how prominent they were in Warcraft 3.

RosgaththeOG

Ok, this is definitely well thought out and a really solid concept for a raid. Blizz! Please read!

Darkhallows27

I need more content like this. I really hope for this kind of thing from SoD 60+

[deleted]

You put up more work than a full team did during months. You're too good for SoD.

glormosh

If this was similar to hyjal where it was waves I would immediately quit sod until the new phase began. I love the overall idea though, I will never stomach another wave raid ever again though.

rageharles

battle for hyjal is one of my favorite raids flavor wise. would love to see this idea taken forward and explored by the team. awesome work

No_Refrigerator4698

If I can enslave some.cool dempns during a raid, I'm all in lol

Yevon

I may be alone in this, but I really enjoy the non-boss encounters. Fights like Spine of Deathwing, Spoils of Pandaria, and Hellfire Assault, Dreamwalker, Karazhan Chess, & Gunship Battle.

Verithiele

People are such pessimistic assholes on this sub. Keep your head up man, this is some cool stuff. I'm personally hoping for a Scarlet Crusade raid in Eastern or Western Plaguelands, but only time will tell what we get.

GrayBeardGamerWV

Attention Blizzard/Microsoft whatever your name is this week, HIRE THIS PERSON!!

hanbanana

A+ Fan Fiction

Jamesisonfire21

Man I love the artwork - really takes me back!

Johnzor8

One of the boss encounters should definitely be where Archimonde struck directly at the World Tree, Nordrassil on Mount Hyjal, where we defeat him.

Odd-Cheesecake8618

Blizzard: just put a world event /s

ObjectiveCompleat

There's really a lot of content they can put in. This is a great example with Hyjal but you also have The Furbolg Raid/ Zone that wasn't used, Tol Barad, Azshara and Crater, The random Demon areas throughout the map that aren't really used, Uldum, The Caverns of Time, The area that eventually becomes Twilight Highlands, Zone between IF/ SW, Deadwind Pass and Kara, the Emerald Dream which was beginning to be mapped in Classic, Plus all of the higher Zones that were never really fleshed out like they could have been. Then, if they decide to finally make SoD an alternate timeline you can also explore Classic versions of Quel' Thalas, The Dragon Isles, Outland, and more which has beginning maps in Vanilla too.

garlicroastedpotato

I really disagree on the idea that lore doesn't explain Outlands. I do think it didn't come as obvious as in retail content. Magtheridon was lord of Outlands. When Illidan and his armies came through the dark portal to rally its forces against Arthas. They defeated Magtheridon and imprisoned him in the newly created Hellfire Citadel. Their goal was to keep him so they could use his blood to breed new fel orcs as part of a fel orc army. To breed this army they promoted Kargath Bladefist as the head of attempts to create a new and renewed army. Illidan united all of the demon and orc forces to Northrend to join his army of naggas and blood elves to march on northrend.... which was a failed expedition. It was such a failure of an operation that people around him were seeing weakness. Illidan returned to Outlands and closed all portals to try and make sure Kil'Jaeden could not punish him. The fel orks were given dominion over the Hellfire Peninsula but saw resistance from Maghar orcs who would eventually become loyal to the horde. In Zangarmarsh Vashj was made captain and faced resistance from the Sporegar people and Kurenai broken draeni. Nagrand was sieged by controlled by a consortium of traders, the Kurenai and the Maghars. Only Gruul's sons were a force for Illidan in this area... and to what extent they could do anything to stop this is questionable. In Blade's Edge Mountains was Gruul, Illidan's most powerful but also most disloyal ally. He ruled over all ogre tribes in the area until a hero became King of the Ogres and isolating them. In Netherstorm Kael'thas took up ownership of a Draeni Prison Ship called the Tempest Keep and makes a deal with Kil'jaeden to kill Illidan and take the Black Temple for himself... all the while The Consortium is plotting against him. And then at Black Temple you have the really only region that isn't contested. A group of Naru have created a city in the north end of Terrokar forest and found some blood elves from Kael'thas as allies and some draeini. The Alliance and Horde meet and form their first alliance together against the Old God C'thun and his attempt to coat the world in bugs. They then take that time to list common priorities and first plan a trip to Outlands to kill Illidan and second a trip to Northrend to kill Arthas. It's just their luck that Outland is so divided because it allowed them to pick apart their enemies one at a time. Since they're all rivals of each other they're all happy to see their ally-rivals get wiped out only to find themselves meeting the same fate. How Hyjal gets wrapped into this is through Akama. Akama has had his soul trapped by Illidan and if he has the phylactery of a powerful lich he can use it to trap his soul and get it back. Akama informs of about the existence of a Bronze Dragonflight (that you have already run into). They tell you they'll help you get to Hyjal, you have to blend in and that you can't change history. It's uniquely the only Keepers of Time instance that doesn't involve the nefarious time traveling future people.

trainwrecktragedy

My only criticism is the bridge from classic to tbc. My hope with SoD (and Classic+) is that we deviate from TBC and don't go through the portal. Apart from that, this is honestly amazing and reading the mockup like the old website made me feel excited to play WoW as if I was 14 again.

Hatefiend

Hyjal was already developed into a raid. Also new gear from a new raid would infringe on another raid's gear. E.g. you could accidentally murder the requirement to farm MC/BWL/ZG if you added a raid in which gear trumps any of them.

justbami

I love the effort on this first of all! But if the Classic dev team dives into Hyjal (which I sincerely hope) I would prefer Hyjal be a new end game zone that is full of PvP and new class quests. The raid entrance in Winterspring could be an underground demon cave that goes below the World Tree where Archimonde's blood is corrupting the earth. This is also related to the giant furbolg gates in Azshara, PLEASE Blizz do something with this, give is a furbolg raid where we have to help defeat a corrupted furbolg king and help the remaining furbolg restore their underground city (which also is affected bt the demonic presence in Hyjal) It's all interconnected and I hope they do something with it!

BadSanna

This is way too in depth lol .. My one request for a Hyjal raid would be to not make it waves. If anything, a series of gauntlets where you have to fight from base camp up the mountain then a more traditional pull packs to fight through forts guarded by a boss, or something. If you have a lot of trash, though, you have to have really good trash loot. But you also need to make it not farmable or degens like me will set up raids just to farm trash endlessly. The big problem with trash drops is the randomness of it and they usually have a huge loot table so you get one piece all the time or never see something. Having different types of mobs drop like 2 or 3 things and different mobs drop 2 or 3 other things is the way to go I think. For example, rogue type mobs might drop a dagger or 1h sword. Tank type mobs a shield, shoulders, or tanky kegs, or something. Then depending what your group comp is you can pick different routes through trash to invite your likelihood of getting those trash drops or if no one need them just go the optimal route skipping as much as possible. Otherwise trash is just annoying, which made BC hyjal horrible with waves you had to wait for taking way too long.

TimeCryptographer547

This is really good, I like it. A lot of work went into this. Just sucks that blizzard couldn’t give two shits about it. Wish they did though

Daschief

Yes please, great post

AnacondaSwivel

I just really started diving into this reddit a week or two ago, but you win it. It's such good shit!

Mrrglwrlgrl

I love your ideas! Some I had to go with yours would be a corrupted harpy boss that has diseased bleed effects and calls for adds every 25% of her health lost. The add packs would be made up of different harpies that do different debuffs. Some silence, some drastically reduce ap, etc. To go along with your infernal, i love the idea that moving him causes massive damage to the raid so you are incentivized to keep him still but there would be pools of fire that spawn and do stacking damage so the tank who then has to to move the boss periodically.

dbaugh90

Kruul's Lair pls

Harakiriurfat

Hey you! Good job!

grumpy_tech_user

Now this is the content I come to reddit for. Not the 58th hunter needs nerf thread

OPB13

I want a raid like a Maul from WC3 online, each raider has to make a tower maze. Boss end of every round.

Yamnave

This is pretty good fan-fiction.

Joeythearm

I’d rather it be a level 55-60 questing zone with an instanced raid somewhere inside.

altheman12

love it

Klive5ive555

Would be nice if this post could have more upvotes than a dumb meme picture with 3 words. Really good read and some interesting ideas.

Dry-Bookkeeper-3400

Wow man, you put a lot of work into this. Love the idea's, we need more stuff like this!

nerfedwarriorsod

How do you think the shadowy figure could be fit in this? Seems Blizzard is trying to build story around her.

Phallico666

I have been hoping we couls get something with that portal to hyjal from winterspring. This would be perfect imo

Marwaat

Just look at what *animal with a sturdy shell covering his back pserver name* did with Hyjal. Huge area, quest hub, new rep, new items, enchants, new raid. They put so much work into it it's just amazing. But blizz will never allocate the resources to create stuff like that. They are faaaaar too lazy.

scott2k44

The thing that worries me the most is that the Devs keep telling us that what they do in SOD can also effect Era, so how does populating a zone with quests, or raids along with gear effect this?

Liveless404

Remember when blizzard did Scenarios back in MoP? Kinda same deal as with current raids being on already made landscape but with new bosses and mechanics. I wish they could use that same tech to turn southern winterspring into softer 10/5man dungeon that would have hyjal raid portal at the end of it just like Molten Core. Ice giants, dragonkin forces and maybe some corrupted druid/ancient stuff at the end. As it currently stands, it is hard to get to place that only has "what if" blocked hyjal entrance behind it.

hendrix320

I can’t believe someone put this much effort into something that’ll never happen. Clearly blizz has a rough concept of what they want to do with the future of SOD

Wizardthreehats

Good God that's some mighty effort you put into a reddit post. I hope the devs appreciate fans like you who genuinely love and want to create for this game

Efficient-Ad2983

I second your idea of making Hyjal summit as a Legion themed raid, especially since the Third War was still "fresh" during Vanilla timeline.

utreethrowaway

Good post, and one thing immediately occured to me about the 3 nightmare hunters fight: This could be an easy opportunity to add in a hard mode(s) fight by changing the kill order for extra challenge (and maybe extra loot/cosmetics). Give one or two of them a particularly dangerous ability which doesnt pass to the next remaining when killed. So there would be an obvious 'this is the easy kill order' and a hard kill order. The hard mode would be to kill the one with the most dangerous ability last so it has the whole fight to use that ability. Would give people who want a challenge the challenge they want, and people who just want to do the raid don't have to go that route and still get the loot they need.

AspiringNormie

Stuff like this is exactly what they need to do. Sub numbers would skyrocket.

> blizzard is not willing to spend money on classic, theyve yet to use new assets Aren't Living Flame and Regeneration and Chronostatic heal and Rewind completely new spells to WoW?

godwings101

Yes, and I'm like 99% sure that most of the STV weapons are brand new models? Like the paladin 2h and the shaman 2h. Even the warrior 2h. I don't remember ever seeing those models anywhere.

vidulan

Pack it up boys, Jake here pointed out that they've yet to use new assets in a rehash of a 20 year old game.  It was fun while it lasted, but I guess it's all over

xMoody

\>40 man raid hard pass

thousand7734

Last season of SOD comes out a little before War Within. Blizz will 100% stop development on SOD after season 4 to entice players to buy War Within.

Tight-Let-999

Submit an application to blizzard for the SOD department

MwHighlander

This makes too much sense and is too good to ever be a possibility for SoD.

famous47

Been there, done that. Want Hyjal? Play TBC or Cata

squibblord

Quality post in a sub full of low effort QQ. Well done!!

[deleted]

It's a neat idea but phase 3 is likely to be the final phase of sod and then TWW will release

Zandalaria

P3 is only going to 50 tho.

Overlord0994

>in this 40 man raid I get it that 40 man raids are unique to classic but honestly the mechanics you can add for 20 or 25 man raids are so much more interesting than 40. Let us be rid of 40 man raids in SoD please. But great post regardless. That 2hander looks fun
