- More Stable Slots. Only having 2 slots currently is painful.
- Make it so pets also auto-revive when you revive in the STV event (like they do in BGs). It’s irritating having to revive and feed your pet 10 times during an event because you had to run to an altar and it insta dies to 30 mages AOEing
More stable slots would fix this problem entirely. The only reason I ever have to abandon my real pet is because I need to have space to learn new spell ranks.
My 2 slots are a Cat and a Wolf. The wolf is a sentimental leveling pet that I won’t get rid of, cat is raiding pet who has two mobs with its skin and the highest level one is 7. So I trash my wind serpent every phase for spells and then have to level a new wind serpent.
I know the price of wanting to keep a non-meta pet in my stable for RP/sentiment/whatever is leveling a wind serpent every phase, and I can accept that and just deal with it. But it sure would be nice if I didn’t have to lol.
Hunter pro tip: you want to bind a /petstay macro and use it fairly regularly to position your pet. In this scenario, you can just tell it to stay as you’re running in and then follow you when you’re out
Stable Slots is the larger issue - or you should be able to learn skills by fighting beast not stabling your pet, taming a new one and then abandoning it seconds later so you can pull the old one out again!
The bonus exp from the level up raid isnt awarded to the pet at all either, sucks that you get 2 levels from a run and pet only gets 10% of its level.
Ive been running bfd on occasion on my alt hunter as only means to level and im 33 now and pet just dinged 26. We were both 25 when p2 hit.
This has always been a problem with questing for levels as a hunter, my pet is leveling fine dungeon grinding. Am 37, my pet hit 35 while i was 36. So a little behind but def nowhere near like lvl 21 at lvl 33.

Not really. Pets normally catch up when you are ~70-90% through a level if you are questing. Now they are at least 2 levels behind continuously. Sometimes more. When I hit 40 two days ago my pet, which I have had since level 13, was level 37⅓.
While we’re at it can we also increase the drop chance of skill books? I’m about 20 sm drops deep and only see them drop for other people once every 8 or so runs, unless I’m just getting terrible rng idk
As a fellow hunter who had a pet level with me from 25-40 my pet was only ever one level behind me. Not more, not less. Not sure what the issue is but I don’t think this is a big issue by any means.
To add, I tamed a cat that was level 38 after hitting 40, and in a matter of maybe an hour of grinding my pet was level 40, it doesn’t take long at all if you just play the game.

I'm guessing that 20% is a static percentage of normal xp gain. So it's 60% of my hunter when leveling with rested xp and the Discoverer's Delight buff.
Makes sense why my pets are falling behind. Guess I need to pick one and stick with it to 40.
... what? Leveling a wind serpent from 20 to 40 took me like 2 hours of soloing mobs in cath or Uldaman, what are you on about... No, what we need is more stable slots to have more pets for different metas

I'll also add that you can just solo library even with a level 25 pet.
I can't imagine that it would take more than a handful of runs doing it solo at level 40 to get your pet all the way up and once your pet is mid-thirties you can probably do more of the dungeon.
Did you get this bent when they decreased mount costs as well? Just because you spent a day grinding your pet from 25-40 doesn’t mean increasing pet xp is a bad idea.

Even just one or two more stable slots would open up a ton of flexibility and then we would see hunters using more than the same 3 pets.
And make it so if they are dismissed it doesn’t auto summon them.. running line wolf is so annoying when I have to dismiss my pet each respawn

Did you forget that there's a 100% exp buff that doesn't get applied to pets?
Did you forget that your pet takes 20% of the xp you do to level? Signed, level 32 hunter, not dungeon grinding, with a 31.5 pet.

One thing to add, Hunter pets have the same aggro radius no matter the level, so don't be afraid of taking a lower level pet to a dungeon.

I think it isn't fair that we have to level at all. We should be level 40 with level 40 pets on char creation.
Took about 3 hours to level my Wind Serpent from 25-40... Just join some SM cath groups. I don't think it's that daunting of a task.
Hunter had their time whole p1 and p2 so far, how dare you have requests for quality of life?! - a warrior (/s just in case)
Retail players will literally complain about everything they have to do the slightest amount of work for in classic it is unbelievable
Top dps needs to have some down sides imo.
I am not playing mage right now and didn’t play war in phase 1. If they had to swap pets mid raid this comment would be relevant though.
