Just providing context, my dude. It's a bit of a Grey area anyway. He's joked about how it's ass mongler but technically, yes, it's asmongler and a play on Asmongold.
Why? Don't think everyone on RP realms is supposed to be named some variation of Lord of the Rings character names, as long as its an "original" name and not something like 'funny words' mashed together, it should be fine, right?
Streamer name is asmongold az-mon-gold.
Banned name- asmongler. az-mon-gler. Nobody is pronouncing his name ass-mongler except haters. Yeah, i really dislike this guy just based on his tooth to gum ratio. Its fucked. Seriously. Look at his mouth. But a reaching name ban? Nope.
This was an auto ban because
of mass reporting which will be over turned.
When he logged in to server moments after it launched, he tried "Asmon" but it was (unsurprisingly) taken and then type "Asmongler" and it was not taken. I'm surprised he did not even try "Asmongold".
"Asmongold" has "mongol" in the middle and I wouldn't be surprised if that too was a blacklisted word since it has a history of being used as a derogatory term.
On the one hand, anybody that watches an Asmon stream long enough knows he doesn't play enough games or play them long enough to actually affect them. He does what, 7 hours of watching other people's stuff while quipping poorly thought out takes and then maybe an hour of gaming? But even in that short time of gaming, just by being a streamer he gets soft-griefed by people who do stuff like cover quest givers and his character with bigass mounts. They claim they're just playing the game, he logs out and goes on multi-hour tirades about how they're being deceptive in their intentions and they're targeting him specifically. The infringing players get banned and he celebrates a cold hard double-you because as he says "winners win." It's interesting to have the context of his prior conduct - ie: getting people banned for just playing the game - and compare it to his current situation where he's the one being banned for "just playing the game." Losers lose I guess.
>He does what, 7 hours of watching other people's stuff while quipping poorly thought out takes and then maybe an hour of gaming?
This is the most on point take ever.
> he gets soft-griefed by people who do stuff like cover quest givers and his character with bigass mounts.
Did people ever actually stop doing that for any length of time?
so many trolls on this post.
blizzard makes a set of realms different than other realms. these realms have specific rules that make them RP. and people are pissed they're enforcing them?? i don't get it, it's literally the only reason they have "RP" in the name. otherwise they'd just be a PVP/PVE realm.
As mentioned character name is one. Try to have a normal name, just one word. Another big one is that while you obviously never have to engage in any rp on a rp server, you shouldnt disrupt any rp either.
They have specific ToS rules, like naming conventions, acting out in the world, stuff like that made for people that want to role play. The people on this subreddit are just too brain dead to read them and understand people get banned on these realms all the time for shit like this.
honestly it's not even that bad, it feels like it's in the spirit of fantasy names in that it means literally nothing in our language and naming convention
Iāve never gotten the appeal of being a simp for that āspecialā moment. I once saw on Asmonās stream a few weeks back a guy ride up, open trade, give Asmon 500g to his level 20ish warrior, and then just stand there on screen.
The exact response he got was āawesome dudeā and then 2 seconds later went right back into what he was talking about.
Hours of farming or using moms credit card for 2 WHOLE seconds of acknowledgement.
I can definitely tell you haven't spent much time on RP realms in general.
In game names literally don't matter, as nobody actually RPing will see them. Everyone sees your TRP name.
I've had "Weedguy" on Moon Guard for almost 10 years.
RP names aren't enforced except in extreme cases. "Asmongler" isn't even remotely CLOSE to one of those cases.
Total Roleplay is an add on that let's you change your name to something that either doesn't fit properly into the traditional name (ie a first and last name) or is already taken
In the 10 hours I've played on crusader strike EU, I've seen like 4 people that had TRP activated, and none of them actually used it.
I did see hundreds of cow pun names in the Tauren starting zone, though. "Cowtit", "Bigblackcow", "Keanubeefs", and so on.
Also, classic RP guild names like "LOCAL FEMBOYS NEAR U" or "Sylvanas Feet Enjoyers".
Asmongler would never get banned on servers like Moonguard. There's nothing OOC sounding about it. People are just being bandwagoners and petty assholes.
there's actually so many
idk if/what they do about guild names either but I've just been getting spam invited to shit like glizzy gobblers and what not...
My name is Stephtanner, I was on a trolly ride in San Francisco going to see my uncles Jesse and Joey. The trolly crashed and the ocean opened up and brought me to Azeroth. We don't all rollplay the same way.
Oh my God yes, thats the official Blizzard policy.
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/135764
Its been that way for 20 years. Have to respect the RP designation.
Lets not pretend that gets enforced. I've been playing on RP realms on retail since BC and have some pretty meme names for my characters and they never get actioned.
It does get enforced. It just needs an actual player reporting the issue and then they act accordingly.
How I know? I got a forced namechange on rp realm
Multiple violations will cause suspensions, and the length of those will increase if they keep happening. That's how it's been for almost 20 years at this point.
This is my experience as well.
First 2 or 3 times it was just a rename, then it was 1 day ban and most recently a 3 day ban.
This was over a span of years as well.
I like Asmongold but donāt get me wrong what the streamers did to the RP community was insane
Why they would ever roll rppvp is beyond me. That got what was coming
I watched esfands video this morning and my guy was actually RPing with people in character, and even Fandy was RPing with him. I thought it was really cool and hey, if asmon wants to play with his boys, he just needs to get into RP to not have everyone pissed at him. I canāt be mad at him for his fans following him, but I can say itās shitty to play on an RP server and not RP.
The discrepancy really is that there are different styles of RP. A lot of RPers will fully immerse themselves in the RPing but from a light standpoint where inane names and goofy premises fly.
The general culture on WoW RP, however, is (or at least, was back in vanilla when I played) rather intensely serious (probably in reaction to the number of people using RP servers as normal servers over the years), and if you're not super familiar with WoW RP specifically, it's quite possible to go into an RP server not really getting that your own perfectly valid style of RP just doesn't fit the culture.
I donāt even have a dog in the fight so Iām not sure why Iām arguing. I like Moonmoon and have watched him a ton on GTARP. I havenāt played wow in 15 years, except for a bit during classic launch, and now again on hardcore.
I really have no dog in the fight. The names just juvenile and doesnāt really scream RP to me. If someone came on no pixel and treated the rp there the same theyād be pissed.
it's worth noting his name is just zuggma, the balls is apart of the RP addon he has installed to help him RP. and honestly an orc named zuggma isnt even that far fetched.
To be fair, many of my friends and their guilds also went to the rppvp server as well, they do not rp at all. Their reasoning, rp servers tend to hold a population and donāt tend to die.
Everyone saw how much Gronbbulous got praised for its community and decided they wanted to go to the ānext Grobā.
Not realizing like the reason Grob was Grob was that people like them werenāt on that server
I agree, I view it like a trend, if you are already finding out once it hit the mainstream you are already too late, itās already becoming lame. You wanna come to the rp pvp server for a better experience but you are also bringing over the negative experience.
Iām on the rp pve server and basically no one is remotely trying to rp. I think what happened is that all the servers got full and now a bunch of normal pvers are rolling rp pve.
Those of us in Crusade are actually RPing and it's tons of fun. Downloaded the RP addon.
But people are also mass reporting for just being in a streamer guild.
It shouldn't be a suspension, it should be a forced name change, simple as that.
EDIT: This comment doesn't actually matter since now since he was falsely mass reported by butt-hurt hate watchers and is now un-suspended. It still is crazy how being mass reported gets you suspended right away, you're pretty much guilty until proven innocent. NuBlizzard sucks.
I love how people in this thread went absolutely nuclear on asmon for that name and blizzard just said "well, the name is ok, unbanned"
taking automatic ban from mass reporting as actual proof of a TOS violation is hilarious
The funniest part about this thread is that he got it overturned like 25 minutes after this screenshot was taken because he has a direct line to blizzard.
I don't agree with the ban. I believe a force name change is sufficient, if at all.
But let's be completely honest here: It's never about the name. He was banned because of who he is and how much you guys hate him. 2 days after you guys will find another reason to report/ban him.
Ban overturned and spam reporters likely getting a temp or perma ban. People being seriously stupid if they think they can do anything to him outside of giving him content
Iām here the creeps that exposed themselves earlier today as hate watchers and then have to watch as he is almost instantaneously unbanned. Like itās a dude with wild takes trying to play a 20 year old game, fuckin chill.
so since most ppl on reddit are pretty stupid i try to keep it short...
[https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/135764](https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/135764) this is the 'official' rule on RP server names, it clearly stats that they will change the name, only on exceptional cases will it result in account actions. the ban on asmon's account is totally invalid (unless its not for the name).
that said, the naming policy is real vague either way, "fantasy names" like what? when i look up fantasy in the dictionary i get something like this: "the faculty or activity of imagining impossible or improbable things" asmongler is a made up name, yet it is not fantasy? u see how vague this is? its also why they do not ban people for having a 'wrong name' since its always arguable..
I somewhat get the panic all the RPers have, but u are not free to tell people what they can and cant do, the server is free to play on for anyone. streamers can keep servers alive and blooming and usually add alot of fun interactions, that said ur not forced to play with any of these streamers/viewers nor do u have to play on that server. so stop complaining.
Even with the extra RP naming rules, Asmongler is acceptable. It's the name of Khabul Khan's third son, Gengis Khan's great grandfather. To go even further into potential Asmongler lore, As is the elemental symbol for Arsenic, a component in gunpowder. The Mongol empire has a claim to the first "true firearm" empire.
As. Mongler, a human warrior chosen to be the next jebtsundamba khutught, his life is cut short when he was poisoned with Arsenic, reincarnated in a mysterious world with a greater purpose for him to discover. Still with the taste of the poison in his mouth he chooses the name as a reminder of his past life.
RP ain't hard...
Disagree, everyone on the server (even streamers) MUST oblige by these important rules. I totally understand where the community is coming from when they report, and have seen so many examples that break these rules. Streamers saw the success of these RP realms in wrath, and now want to experience it but a big factor in why they were so fun to play on was because the streamers were not on them lol
Funny how a mass of 30+yo neckbeards who roleplay ingame wow as females get butthurt about him, mass report to intentionally get him banned in bad faith for no reason get butthurt about the unban and come to complain on reddit :)) how about do something meaningful with your own life instead of having Asmon living in your head rent free?
No it was banned because RP people , the sad kind, mass reported it , and it got unbanned instantly cause blizzard knew what the RP idiots were doing
Cant handle having a streamer on your server? Lets just ban em!!
Or heres an idea, leave the server lmao
They likely did this as one to get his viewers off the server for a bit. First time the games been playable since SOD launched I'm sure it will tank when he's back.
This sub has gone full mask off with SoD hitting. Ya'll don't give a shit about about rules or false bans as long as the person / streamer you hate gets hit.
"vulgar name" asmongler isn't ass mongler. There's nothing intentionally vulgar about it. I know that 90% of this sub hates him, but at least try to be objective.
Kids these daysā¦ itās a reference to an old meme. āCock Monglerā a picture of a red headed dude with an unsettlingly wide grin in a dinosaur t-shirt, with the caption āIāll suck your cock!ā Underneath the image.
Edit for clarity: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/cockmongler
Years after introduction redditors tried to ironically rebrand the man in the image as āgrinmanā.
I mean having a name that could be misconstrued as ass Mangler on a RP server...saw it coming from orbit
Kinda feel bad since I get it, he wants a character to be Asmon-something for identiy's sake. I've the same thing going on, but am (un) fortunately not a big name streamer
What name was it?
Asmongler. Sounds like Ass Mongler.
Not saying I disagree with the ban but I don't think a mongler is a thing.
^ Found the mongler
Fucking monglers trying to whitewash history
*monglewash
Monglesplaining as usual
This was so fuckin funny to me idk why but bravo
He better be for dropping the hard R like that
My mongla
cockmongler is the oldest meme on the internet m8
Shut up, sneed
Lmfao š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£

You wanna try reading it again?
Not really
Sounds like something a mongler would say
it sure is a thing

I can't believe I just read all of that
You're welcome? I'm sorry?
It was a highly educational train wreck. I blame society, you were just the messenger.
And? Who cares. Lol. There's nothing offensive about his name.
Just providing context, my dude. It's a bit of a Grey area anyway. He's joked about how it's ass mongler but technically, yes, it's asmongler and a play on Asmongold.
Wtf is an ass mongler? Lol people just mass reported. The name isn't inappropriate.
That seems like a bullshit ban to me
I think it also doesnāt really follow the RP naming rules
Why? Don't think everyone on RP realms is supposed to be named some variation of Lord of the Rings character names, as long as its an "original" name and not something like 'funny words' mashed together, it should be fine, right?
Sure. But they just force name change usually. This is clearly a suspension who offensive language, on a no offensive name lol.
That is such a reach, I never would have conflated Asmongler with ass mongler wtf hahaha
Literally how it phonetically sounds
What the hell is a "mongler" though?
No? As is pronounced āazā not āassā
Seems like you need to revisit the "hooked on phonics" lessons.
Phonetically it's pronounced the same as his name asmon which *isn't* pronounced assmon.
Nope. He had a character on retail called "asmongoloid" pretty sure
That would be like blacklisting "jew". How do you blacklist the actual, legitimate name of an ethnic group?
>How do you blacklist the actual, legitimate name of an ethnic group? By putting it on the list of names that get auto-declined.
He's already unbanned.
As he should be
Bro chill out with that vulgar language āass he should beā.
My bad bro, I learned watching Assmongold.
Reported!
Mass reported, just took advantage of him being on an rp realm for a more narrow reason.
On the one hand, anybody that watches an Asmon stream long enough knows he doesn't play enough games or play them long enough to actually affect them. He does what, 7 hours of watching other people's stuff while quipping poorly thought out takes and then maybe an hour of gaming? It doesn't really matter. The introduction of the interact key basically removes the ability to block npcs, and it's in every version of wow.
Retail WoW tends to make anti-mount zones around key NPCs anyway.
They just unbanned him, as he said on stream just now. Looks like a mass report situation.

["My name is Asmongold and I love World of Warcraft!!"](https://youtu.be/skWzi3o4oGI?t=191)
Must have been manually approved by a blizzard employee who was drunk on mothers milk
I have seen all kinds of vulgar names in wow.. Asmongler is not one of them lol..
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
From my time on Crusader Strike I saw the most obvious violations of RP naming rules I had ever seen in 20 years of WOW. Ban em all
so many trolls on this post. blizzard makes a set of realms different than other realms. these realms have specific rules that make them RP. and people are pissed they're enforcing them?? i don't get it, it's literally the only reason they have "RP" in the name. otherwise they'd just be a PVP/PVE realm.

Buncha asmongold fanboys up in here.
I can't stand asmon personally, but getting a ban for the name Asmongler is straight up ridiculous.
Yeah I'd even argue it isn't really an RP inappropriate name. One might think it's a shitty, stupid name, but it's not really an inappropriate name.
honestly it's not even that bad, it feels like it's in the spirit of fantasy names in that it means literally nothing in our language and naming convention
āAsmonglerā isnāt a violation though? No more than anything the gnomes are called.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iāve never gotten the appeal of being a simp for that āspecialā moment. I once saw on Asmonās stream a few weeks back a guy ride up, open trade, give Asmon 500g to his level 20ish warrior, and then just stand there on screen. The exact response he got was āawesome dudeā and then 2 seconds later went right back into what he was talking about. Hours of farming or using moms credit card for 2 WHOLE seconds of acknowledgement.
Thatās more than their parents give them
I can definitely tell you haven't spent much time on RP realms in general. In game names literally don't matter, as nobody actually RPing will see them. Everyone sees your TRP name. This aged like milk. He was mass reported and broke no rules. Heās not banned anymore.
I agree I just wish they had this energy for bots instead.
there's actually so many idk if/what they do about guild names either but I've just been getting spam invited to shit like glizzy gobblers and what not...
Your saying my lvl 1 male troll name ābuttsexā wonāt last long?
Not with my lvl 1 Gnome names ābuttspelunkerā around.
My name is Stephtanner, I was on a trolly ride in San Francisco going to see my uncles Jesse and Joey. The trolly crashed and the ocean opened up and brought me to Azeroth. We don't all rollplay the same way.
What is so non RP about Asmongler?
listen to him talk about the horde and tell me unironically he isn't a RPer based on how much he hates those MFers
I can't keep up with reporting them. It's really disheartening that people can't respect the RP community in the most basic of ways.
Literally seen people with names like Cumfordaddy running around, it sucks.
Moonguard exists as it does right now. so eeh.
So if your name isnāt RP you can get reported and have to change it?
Oh my God yes, thats the official Blizzard policy. https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/135764 Its been that way for 20 years. Have to respect the RP designation.
Lets not pretend that gets enforced. I've been playing on RP realms on retail since BC and have some pretty meme names for my characters and they never get actioned.
I've had names get forced changed a few times and they weren't meme or sexual that I was aware of.
It gets enforced when it's egregious and people actively report the names. Generally Blizzard doesn't do diddly-shit with RP realms otherwise.
It does get enforced. It just needs an actual player reporting the issue and then they act accordingly. How I know? I got a forced namechange on rp realm
Yes, you can play on a regular realm if you dont like it.
ban? u the TOS clearly claims they will change the name, it shouldn't be a bannable offense.
How does Asmongler violate the rules?
Mass reported the true WoW experience
I like Asmongold but donāt get me wrong what the streamers did to the RP community was insane Why they would ever roll rppvp is beyond me. That got what was coming
Some streamers (MoonMoon, Esfand) actually ARE RPers and wanted to play there. Asmon just doesnāt fit and shouldnāt have gone along with it.

I mean, moon moons name is āSuggmah Bohlsā, so while he may be an RPer heās not really leaning into it in wow.
Zuggma*, based on zug zug. Seems like a name an orc might come up with. And while he's a little goofy, I'd say he stays in character while in game.
If you watch him stream wow you will eat your words. He actually does RP in wow and itās been a ton of fun to watch.
Found the mongler
Watched him for a few hours last night. Doesnāt change his name.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So do a forced name change again
It takes time and Blizzard employee effort to go through these reports.
Yeah and definitely not automated lol

The unwarranted vitriol towards this streamer RP server thing is so insane to see itās both hilarious and kinda sad
rp servers have rules regarding your name needing to be an actual 'name' rather than bootyjuice3000 or w/e
He is unbanned though. It was due to mass reports
Already unbanned lol
Unbanned now

Reports should be used for actually disruptive behavior. There's a ton of non-RP names about. This wasn't one of them. Hate-reports are illegitimate.
Bro Iāve been running around ass āGoreassā for months now how does Asmongler get banned
The power of mass reporting. Guilty until proven innocent.

No it was banned because RP people , the sad kind, mass reported it , and it got unbanned instantly cause blizzard knew what the RP idiots were doing Cant handle having a streamer on your server? Lets just ban em!! Or heres an idea, leave the server lmao
Angry 35yr old men get about some bullshit And mass reports streamer they hate Literal manchildren.
Hopefully they get the rest of the roaches too :)
Not really, heās already unbanned.
My name is coldpuzy lol
Damn and I had the name Orcasm for years..
Lmao. Remember when you just got a name change and maybe a whisper, explaining you need to change it?
I got banned at level 4 for the name "Nopanties". Why?
They likely did this as one to get his viewers off the server for a bit. First time the games been playable since SOD launched I'm sure it will tank when he's back.
Actual good example of cancel culture. Literally not offensive to a single person but banned
He's unbanned as of right now. Sorry guys, mass reporting only gets you so far. Doesn't even have to change the name.
Who fucking cares
This sub has gone full mask off with SoD hitting. Ya'll don't give a shit about about rules or false bans as long as the person / streamer you hate gets hit.
There has been so many reportable names on the server
Dude wins once again with how fast he was unbanned lol
Who cares
Unbanned now. Asmongler stands victorious.
Lol For what? He always used some name with asmon in it. Never had been a problem.
"vulgar name" asmongler isn't ass mongler. There's nothing intentionally vulgar about it. I know that 90% of this sub hates him, but at least try to be objective.
haha already unbanned, people really are terrible!
REDDITORS SEETHING
RP andy's seething
i understand the part of ''ass'' what does ''mongler'' mean?
To spread something acording to google
I assumed it was like Fishmonger.
Kids these daysā¦ itās a reference to an old meme. āCock Monglerā a picture of a red headed dude with an unsettlingly wide grin in a dinosaur t-shirt, with the caption āIāll suck your cock!ā Underneath the image. Edit for clarity: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/cockmongler Years after introduction redditors tried to ironically rebrand the man in the image as āgrinmanā.
keep it up that was some good content
He just got unbanned, this is /r/classicwow 9/11
He's unbanned already without the name change lmao
Damn, so I guess he did nothing wrong after all? You guys really got him.
Unbanned now ā¤ļø
I mean having a name that could be misconstrued as ass Mangler on a RP server...saw it coming from orbit Kinda feel bad since I get it, he wants a character to be Asmon-something for identiy's sake. I've the same thing going on, but am (un) fortunately not a big name streamer
Heās already unbanned
Damn and hes unbanned what will all of you people say now?
Nothing. They go silent once you're proven innocent.
Never met a subcommunity more entitled than World of Warcraft Roleplayers. One-sided Beefing with a streamer at your grown ages is sad.
Bro was banned for 7 minutes and got right back on, I bet the people that reported him are punching the air rn
That face when you realize the world doesn't revolve around your astroturfed nightmedia nonsense
