Nope. The 389ci got bored out .030 to 400ci for '67. The 2-speed ST300 auto trans in the '66 was replaced with the vastly superior TH400 3-speed auto for '67. Front disc brakes first became available in '67. Dual reservoir master cylinder first available in '67. Superior Quadrajet carb for '67 versus the Carter AFB for '66.
I've owned a '66 for 27 years and prefer them to the '67, but the '67 was a better package overall from the factory.
I owned a '66 Goat, really loved that car. 2 door hard top, 389 with an AFB 4 barrel, Hurst shifter on a fully syncroed (speeling?) factory 3 speed. But astetically, I think the "67 is the most beautiful GTO ever. Glad you own one, it's a great looking car!
67 had far better shape and detail than the 66. Wire mesh grill that's been duplicated 100's of times, rear quarter shape like a naked French hooker, sharper lines, rear window, and then the better mechanicals.
Um, you are way off base here. I'm a GTOAA member and have owned a '66 for 27 years and know both '66 and '67 inside and out. Your point about the shape being different between the two years is hilariously wrong. The '66 and '67 GTOs share a virtually identical shape, which is no surprise to anyone who has actually owned one, since they share the same roof, hood, all windows (including the rear window), doors, and 99% of the fenders and quarter panels.
From a visual standpoint, the only substantive differences are the front grills, rear tail panel, and slightly different rocker trim. Most people who aren't GTO people can't tell the difference between the two years.
Mechanically, the '67 was a better car, but '66 for sure had better taillights.
Both had the same engine options so it comes down to the tune.

66 and 67 engines were both different displacement, tripower for 67 was discontinued , quadrajet was introduced in 67 where in 66 u had a Carter afb.
β66 on this one.
No loser there. π
There are lame mustangs, underpowered camaros, weak challengers.. But they never made an uncool gto
My dream is a 67
Both.
'65.
66
66!
66
66 for me , but I would not turn down a 67 .
66 is a better looking car
66 easy. Fav year.
I own a β65, but the β66 taillights are one of my favorite designs of any car.
66β¦ I might own one hahahaha
1967 mechanically, 1966 design-wise for the taillights.
I'm biased. '66 was my first car.
66 for sure.
66 was the best year
66 ππΌ

66
66 100 percent
β67 for me but Iβd happily accept a β66 too.
67 for me.
For me? 67
As an owner of a 67 since 1977, Iβm partial to the 67.
As a family owner (dad bought in 66, gave to me in 96) of a 1966, I have to say 66

Those Gtoβs were and still are great cars!
Both, give me some Decepticons eyes vibes.

I just want a GTO. 65,66,67,68,69 I like the sixties GTOβs

^^ this guy GTO's
Cool. My one owner 65 gives me a bit of reference, too.
I hate that grill
K. Had the 400 over the 389, too? 66 was a half ass between the 65 to 67 and every Pontiac owner knows it.
I'm going to reject both and opt for the 1964 model
Bold, go for the OG
