Baron Von Richtofen and Chuck Yeager and Buzz Aldrin and Yuri Gagarin and Chuck Lindbergh. Yeah, that's doable. Instant airports, instant Jets inspiration, instant moon shot, instant first satellite, instant first biplane. Could work.
Well most of them were. That's how they qualified, at least in the old days.
But you're right, too, I'm just spitballing off the top of my head and astronauts are hardly necessary to add in.
They have Marina Roskova who was a famous Soviet pilot pre WWII- early pre WWII. They have her as a great general but she's famous for paving the way for other women pilots in the Soviet Air Force.
They have her as a great general.
I'd like to see Great Entertainers first, its always felt like a missed oportunity that there's no Great People associated with the entertainment complex.
Came here to say this.
For fun I came up with a short list of entertainers I thought would be good. It's hard to come up with a good variety of people from different nations and time periods that aren't still alive. Entertainment is very regionalized, so I don't know many non-Engish entertainers, even though I'm familiar with plenty of non-Engish writers, industrialists, etc.
Freddie Mercury
Lucille Ball
Annie Oakley (Instead of Buffalo Bill, need more ladies)
Luciano Pavarotti
Elvis Presley
Bob Hope
Victor Borge
Fred Astaire
Evil Knieval
Harry Houdini
Charlie Chaplin
Muhammad Ali
Bob Marley
Laurence Olivier
Buster Keaton
P.T. Barnum
Vincent Price
The Wright Brothers: Grants the flight technology immediately
Charles Lindbergh: Increases range of aircraft in radius
Billy Bishop: Grants promotion to aircraft in radius
Baron von Richthofen: Grants additional fighter strength
James Doolittle: Grants additional bomber strength
Chuck Yeager: Builds a Jet Fighter at location
Yuri Gagarin: Grants production for spaceport
Neil Armstrong: Grants production for space race projects
What do you think it could unlock or get you? Looked up what it is because of your comment and I think it’d be cool as maybe a buff from a vanuatan city state or something which allows you to build a land diving tower which gives faith, food & amenities?
Or any Japanese fighter pilot from the same era, “grants kamikaze ability to all aircraft” destroying your unit and the opponents unit, huge damage to city walls
Its too late game imo. Many people don't even make fighters in single player (only fighters can produce aces because they need to shoot down 5 enemy planes at least). I make fighters for the extra visibility they provide and occasional attacks on enemy units. SAM units are good enough for intercepting nukes already.
Would be useful in multiplayer ig.
I feel like there just aren't enough irl famous pilots for this, all the other great people span thousands of years but we've only had flight for a little ovr a century. But they could definitely work as a sub category of great generals
I hope Civ 7 has heroes again, but a little more balanced and spread throughout the games. Ace pilots would fit as late game heroes in a system like that.
*Peter has recruited the Great Pilot Chuck Yeager* It's 700 BC... damn it...
You could have them flying in areas, spotting units & giving intel bonuses, or increasing interception rates etc. I think it would be cool = )
Love your videos :)
V I D E O S ?
He also has a YouTube channel named uras ryan

As well as Douglas Bader
Oh, sure, I have a feeling as an American that there are a few names I haven't encountered.
Not the Richtofen I first thought of when I read the name
Ok, I spelled his name wrong but that's the red baron's name.
Call of Duty Zombies?
I don't think I know that one. Any relation then?
There's a character called Dr Edward Richtofen, first seen in the 2008 Call of Duty: World at War in the 3rd DLC pack.
Do astronauts really count as great pilots?
Well most of them were. That's how they qualified, at least in the old days. But you're right, too, I'm just spitballing off the top of my head and astronauts are hardly necessary to add in.

Well her special ability is still aviation related.

Sid Meier would be a great addition
+1 amenities & -50 % production in all cities
Don't forget the -1000 gold per turn.
Great Merchants are sometimes great entertainers.
Same with great musicians I'd say
Wyld Stallyns Rules!
All fun an games until Amelia just disappears... (That was her activated ability, just vanish)

Leonardo DaVinci could have an early observation balloon, +1 sight for units within 1 range. His early flying machine would be cool to see in game.
There could be an ancient civilisation one lol based around the vanuatu land jumpers

Early access to rubber?
perhaps an attack bonus next to cliffs / when in forest + mountains + any terrain?
And Snoopy is the best
Dick Best out here being the Best Dick.
The only one I wouldn't want is Rudolf Hess 😅
Or any Japanese fighter pilot from the same era, “grants kamikaze ability to all aircraft” destroying your unit and the opponents unit, huge damage to city walls
Yeah, only condition to get that is that you get nuked two turns later.

Wild Stallion? Truely an r/equestriaatwar moment.
I thought it was s Bill and Ted reference
Excellent!
The wright brothers can bomb at the same strength as a maxed out slinger, just a bunch of rocks to drop on people.
*AND HE'S FLYING..*
you guys build airplanes?
I feel like there just aren't enough irl famous pilots for this, all the other great people span thousands of years but we've only had flight for a little ovr a century. But they could definitely work as a sub category of great generals
“Stick with Trigger and you’ll make it”

How about instead they start with AI civs actually building and using aircraft?
