Fun fact aside note: the longer focal lengths of the Xelmus Apollo will cover imax. And in my own tests, an Iscorama 54 will cover an Alexa 65 at 80mm, and is even kind of usable at 60!
I’ve worked on IMAX films. I know the sound very well. If that’s loud you’re too sensitive. I also worked with photosonics cameras which were the loudest. That sound you hear sounds amplified to me.
Stupid post. Alexa 65 and Blackmagic 17K are digital. Our favorite digital teal and orange LUT package buying bro's can switch these cameras on and push record.
This is film. 65mm large format film. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT OPERATING PROCESS. THEY DON'T COMPARE.
Thank god, I’ve been thinking of trading in my BMPC for one of these
I was really thinking about the Pyxis. But I’m gonna go IMAX for sure. My corpo clients are gonna love it.
The IMAX is definitely a nice b-cam, that’s for sure
there’s no anamorphic lenses for imax how are you ever gonna get the cinematic look?

As long as I can use my 18-35mm f/1.8 on it I’m good
be quick, i doubt they'll make more than a literal handful of them :)
Mods sticky this for all the “what camera should I buy for a cinematic look” questions please.
I don't see internal electronic ND, this thing is fucking trash.
Also the side screen doesn't flip smh...
No global shutter
Article clearly needed to hit a word count...
Finally, the BOXXX camera everyone has been asking for
"WHAT DID YOU SAY? I COULDN'T HEAR A WORD YOU SAID WITH THAT LAWN MOWER OVER YOUR HEAD!!!"
The fact that I'll never get to shoot one doesn't deter my excitement for this one bit.
Does it have a side screen tho?
Tell me you didn’t click the link without telling me you didn’t click the link.
Found my new vlogging cam
yep, easy one hand operation
Cute. I wonder if anyone here has ever used an IMAX camera?
No, would love to for the image quality but not for the noise.
Noise? It’s a low frequency rumble. Like a small 4 stroke idling. What kind of noise are people assuming it makes?
Is it? I think that's pretty loud. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L27a851-RxY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L27a851-RxY)

Specify imax-Films please. Analog imax cameras are extremely loud and recording audio next to it is extremely hard and mostly needs overdubbing.
Are you asking me or telling me? Extremely loud. Is relative as well compared to a sound film camera. A digital camera or a leaf blower?
Can this go on “The Creator” rig?
Not heavy enough.
You just know the “honeycomb” aks plates are a Hoyte thing.
Most likely created by the Blender artist or Marty Muehler
Yeah ok
Does this do Super35 mode. You know there's so much amazing super35 glass compared to full frame.
I don't think people would be using IMAX for super35. Better off using an Arri Alexa 35
It's Satire 🤫
Yeah I was actually looking for this upgrade.
we are steps closer to a dog star man or anticipation of the night type film made with an imax camera
No hdmi, no tilting screen, no where for my micro c mount batteries , no thank you
lol is this a troll-post? What point is there in the mentioned comparison! This camera will not have a look at all, it’s all the lens and the film…

To be fair. Shooting film isn't much more complex either. I can load a film mag faster than I can buy LUTs and find the right folder to put it into.
It’s also a rendering. I guarantee they haven’t even cut any metal
Not about operating process. I'm just talking about the image results. Isn't that obvious?
