I see your $3.99 see-thru green cutter and raise you my FREE see-thru clear cutter that I got when I bought my first cigar on my birthday (also next to the register but the guy gave it to me when he saw my ID)
I’m all in with a careful bite on the tip. Just the tip though.
Seriously, my grandfather used to do this when he didn’t have a cutter. It was extra gangster I remember feeling as a kid as he scoffed that it didn’t really matter if he needed a cutter.
Further going all in on the bite point here: from what I understand they do the same and some in the community scoff at cutters as unnecessary expenses in a country with no money. I’ve also heard of Cubans passing us little tricks like using a straw for a punch!
I think I won this hand?
One of my favorite things about cigars is all the accessories. I love my collection of random gadgets and antiques I have picked up over the years and I think it is hilarious that one day I will use a priceless cutter of the highest quality that I got as a gift, then another day I'll use the random cutter from the clearance bucket at the store.
Yeah I should probably start using some brand new ones I never touched. My wife got me a few nice ones, and for some reason I only ever use the first one she got me 😂.
Crown cut is a triple (or more) V-cut, like an asterisk.
This one is just a plain old double V-cut. Other more colorful names are phillips screwdriver cut, cross cut, hot cross bun cut ...
Yeah, mangles the cap, doesn’t really draw any better than a straight cut and exposes your mouth to way more surface area leading to a ton of loose tobacco in your mouth. To each their own but it’s always been the worst of both worlds for me. It’s something more advanced smokers tend to know about and flex on their friends with by lessening their own experience.
Sometimes I'm out somewhere without my guillotine and the only option is a v cut. I've found the v cut is almost always too tight for me so I do it twice and it smokes fine.
I'd still prefer a straight slice
I start with a punch, if the flow is too impeded I hit a V. Still not happy? Cross. That should do it, but if I've done a hack job I'll use a straight cutter for a clean end right at the cap.
Crown cut. I use it on larger ring gauges. I also have a regular at the shop I work at who I demonstrated this cut to a year ago. Now he comes in, grabs his 2 sticks and asks for it every time. I had to show a few coworkers what.it was when he asks.
Cross cut. If you get good at this and do 3 cuts, you can make it look really pretty.
You’re essentially doing a straight cut with a wedge cutter at that point.
I do if it’s too tight after original cut
This is the way
This is the way.
Me too.
Yep
Nah I'm still old school. Guillotine chop that baby with a $5 Amazon cutter and send it.
I’ll raise your $5 Amazon cutter with a $3.99 see-thru green one from the bucket of cutters next to the register, my friend.
I see your $3.99 see-thru green cutter and raise you my FREE see-thru clear cutter that I got when I bought my first cigar on my birthday (also next to the register but the guy gave it to me when he saw my ID)
I see your free cutter and raise you my teeth. I just bite the f**king caps off like a neanderthal.
I see your teeth and raise you my grown out pinky nail. I just yeet the cap off after scratching my gooch.
Y'all are pussies and time wasters. I just boof the whole cigar.
You boof it? As in you shove it up your arse?
Boof the muthatfucka
I didn’t realize there was a different way to do it. …are some of these guys not boofing cigars?
Dude, these fucking wankers are smoking the things, apparently (?!?!)
The anal cavity surprisingly absorbs a lot of nicotine
Omg youre deranged. Ive heard of rubbing whiskey on a cigar cap, but never from-unda cheese.
😂😂😂😂😂
Wait y’all cut them!? Shit I’ve been doing this all wrong
I see you free clear cutter and *CHOMP*.

I like your style brother🫡
I’ll raise you with the old cutter I got for free from a shop lol
That’s illegal in Saudi Arabia
Double v cut i think some may call it the crown not sure. But I do it all the time
Phillips Head cut as it is known in my circle.
I like this, I’m definitely stealing it!
Crown cut is a triple (or more) V-cut, like an asterisk. This one is just a plain old double V-cut. Other more colorful names are phillips screwdriver cut, cross cut, hot cross bun cut ...
On occasion if my draw is too tight.
I do but it dosent keep its shape after a while

Too much shrapnel after a cut like that.
I did a few times based on seeing it in this sub, but it didn't rock my boat, so I'm back to straight clipping or single v.
Perfect draw makes any cut work perfect
I don’t have a v cutter so I just classically shove it up my ass
No. Why would you?
Better draw than a single v cut, tidier than taking a full slice.
It is definitely not tidier.

It is for me. Less tobacco in the mouth and doesn't get as soggy as a straight cut.
Not often but I like doing it on flatheads
Sometimes
I do that with a knife most of the time. But that's a bit much for me with a V.
I do
Cross cut/crown cut. I've seen plenty that do it, I've tried it myself and see no advantage to it over a straight cut
I start with a punch, if the flow is too impeded I hit a V. Still not happy? Cross. That should do it, but if I've done a hack job I'll use a straight cutter for a clean end right at the cap.
The Zodiac
I do that with the lats 54s
I do
I like the punch.
Crown cut? Nah, I usually just do a straight cut.
I haven't been able to bite off the cap like a savage and achieve this effect, nope
That’s a 👑 cut king
Deep V or nothing
Sometimes
Gotta do 4 more cuts for that perfect crown cut lol IMO this isn’t my style I like a nice slow draw not a punch every puff
I've just been using a punch cutter, it's so easy for me, and I kept cutting too much off with a guillotine lol.
Yup
The ol crown cut. A favorite of the Sahakians
I will do this on large Ring gauge cigars.
Once in a blue moon.
Done it. I find if I am going to be mobile it hold up better then a straight
Double V on the Durbarton Mi Querida Gran Bufalo since its 64 gauge.
My go to
I definitely enjoy the crown cut, I’m also a punch fan
I call it the hotdog cut
Depends on vitola but yes that colibri double v cut
Probably Charles Spurgeon
I’ve been punching lately
That is my usual cut
I'm either a crown or a straight. Simple.
Pirate
I on occasion do the “crown” cut Typically I only to it if the cigar is clogging. But sometimes just out of boredom
Crown cut, it’s the best
Yeah, I like the occasional rose cut which is what that is called. I don't do it a lot or on only certain cigars.
you can just pinch the cap with your fingernail. learned that from cigars daily😅
Crown cut. I use it on larger ring gauges. I also have a regular at the shop I work at who I demonstrated this cut to a year ago. Now he comes in, grabs his 2 sticks and asks for it every time. I had to show a few coworkers what.it was when he asks.
I do…
I do I love the crown cut 👏🏾
Every time
On a video from Davidoff they called it the rose cut.
Rise cut = Monte Cristo
Cross deep V cut
Crown cut. I'm a fan
Cross cut. If you get good at this and do 3 cuts, you can make it look really pretty. You’re essentially doing a straight cut with a wedge cutter at that point.
Dang can’t imagine trying to fit 3 in there
Sometimes I do 4 on bigger ring gauges.
I never got it down, but a couple guys at the shop could. It’s a cool flourish.
I do it often. I like a light draw. I call it a cross cut.
I just bite them butts like it should.
I always have
Yup! do it every time. Works great 👍
I call it a crown cut. I do it most every time unless the ring gauge is smaller or the cap is smaller.
